Week 2 of the #TriYogaSchool Restorative series with @helen_garner_yoga @cece.carson and @omniyogagirl is Lizard pose, which I also call LegBody pose because.. well it’s kind of self explanatory right 🤔 you end up looking like a body made of leg. 😂. Historically this pose, and also anything close to a lunge.. they are not part of the family of favourite yoga poses. I don’t know why - I think it’s down to me not having very flexible hip flexors, particularly in this kind of direction (I know I know - to many people I have flexible hips.. it’s all relative!).
I know I’m not posting very much at the moment! I guess I’m pretty busy right now.. and also with time, I enjoy less and less trying to cram in a pose in the morning before heading to work 😅 As I work with kids, the summer holidays are always crazy busy. Hopefully it will settle down soon 😬 oh, also, I’ve had this same cold hanging around for weeks, which doesn’t help with motivation! I suspect it’s partly due to me having to talk to children all day every day 🤧
The beating of your heart baby 💕
Even as a yogi you’ll never shake the lil stinker 90’s punk kid out of me...and when I randomly remember amazing songs from growing up I get all the feels and I’m super happy about it. Happy Sunday, I’ll be over here diggin’ up the old mix tapes. 😇🎶❤️ #noliyoga
Day 15 of #28waysintosplits with @cyogalife and and has given us this quad killing pose 😱 a variation on Eka Pada Rajakapotasana. Phew. It takes a lot of active quad going on to lift up the leg! This was about where I could get to without any other assistance, but I have doubts that I could ever rest my foot on my shoulder 😉 the hip opener/backbend/quad combo really is intense for me in this pose.
Oh, you noticed the Dulux can? 🤣 my favourite ‘to hand’ prop in the kitchen 😏 I used it when lowering the hands to the ground so that I’d have some kind of mid point. Safety first! I haven’t had much of a back bend practice for a while, so I was feeling cautious. Now, if someone would pop over and push my foot in.. 🤣
With all my hair back from my (trying not to make a straining facial expression) face, you can see my weird three face .. moles? freckles? The difference has never been clear to me, but they’re flat 😶 but also dark brown. So I’d call them moles.. anyway. That’s not the point! The point is that they’re in a triangle 🤗 why?? I also have two on the front of my left shoulder that you can see here, which are perfectly matched by two on the other side 😂
sometimes you need to just take things down, go back to basics, and keep it simple. a lot of the time we would rather strive to go beyond our comfort zones and end up pushing ourselves too much, adding on weight of expectations. why not take the time to explore the beginning again? see how it feels now - appreciate the simplicity of beginnings (yoga, relationships, cooking, anything really), there is a comforting kind of magic there ✨

Ever have those times when you're feeling so good in life and then BOOM, rewlized you've climbed so far into a hole and have NO way how to get out? The feeling of being stuck is so incredibly overwhelming?
Here's 10 steps to help you get out of the tough place you're in without a freak out!!! 🌟1. Stay Positive:
Yes sounds cliche. You can remain positive and remind yourself that there really is a light at the end of the tunnel and that you’ll make it through, or you can curl up in the fetal position and relegate yourself to being nothing more than a victim. 🌟2. Get Creative:
It's not always easy to see or you wouldn't be where you are. But find the other ways.
Find the lessons to be learned. 🌟4. Change it up:
Identify the key takeaways from your difficult time, you just need to make a change. 🌟5. Gratitude:
Gratitude means showing appreciation for all the good in your life, instead of focusing on the negative. Get clear about what it is that you’re grateful for.
🌟6. Focus on what you CAN control:
Make a list of everything you can control about the situation and divert all of your focus towards those things. Anything that’s not on the list, doesn’t get any attention.
🌟7. Confidence Boost: Realize where you've come from.
Give yourself credit for everything you’ve already done and the progress being made. 🌟8. Surround yourself with people who are loving, caring, honest, and available.
One phonecall can make the bad days seem a little brighter. Their honesty may be that one piece of information you need to get through the tough time. 🌟9. Be kind to yourself:
Exercise and take some you time. Do something that gets your mind and body engaged at a higher level than wallowing in self pity.
It's easy to have resentment and anger. But this only holds you back. Accept what happen and move forward. Focus on the positive feelings. You don't need issues stored in your tissues!!!
When #growth and #change hit ya hard!!!
