I don't believe it is raining in this painting. I don't believe the couple is arguing. However, I do think the rain is on its way. Or maybe it just passed.

“A toad does not run in the daytime for nothing.”
Yes, the American Toad is nocturnal, so it’s rare to spot one hopping about in the sun! I was so excited, I scooped this gal right up...then set her down hastily, for while you have no need to fear getting warts from a toad, they can secrete a milky toxin that you don’t want near your face. Nonetheless, to see an American Toad is a good sign indeed, since they are an indicator of good environmental health and prey upon garden pests.

Been outside in the ( at last ) cooler temps and watching/ listening to hedgehogs. I think there were 3 rummaging around... Hopefully plenty of insects about. Sadly haven't heard the huffy one for about a week now. Wonder if any of those tonight were Nettie, Lilliput, Hedwig or Thomas all released back into our garden last year, apart from Thomas the year before. Can't imagine a garden without hedgehogs.#nocturnalanimals#nighttime #
