This time of the year is full of temptations. Normally if I received a gift like this I would go to town... and then feel full of guilt afterwards.

This is important to consider if you are experiencing a plateau and you’re trying to figure out why. That’s why there’s the GKI - Glucose Ketone Index. This can give you a bigger picture. Measure both in mmol and divide the glucose reading by the ketone reading. Check the chart to see where you fall. What’s your GKI?

I use @ketomojo to measure both. I also use the @ketoplot app on my phone to keep track of my ketones, glucose and GKI. They have nifty charts for me to nerd out on!

I spoke about this in my stories this morning but I receive a few messages asking me how I started and stuck to keto....sharing some of my tips below. It’s been over 2 years for me now and I’m maintaining my weight and health through a keto lifestyle which sometimes maintaining can be just as hard as the beginning but if ever I put on a few kilos I don’t want then I go back to basics like below. .

So this is what I did.....doesn’t mean it’s what will work for you and I know everyone is different. .
1️⃣ I didn’t eat any keto baking or sweets for the first 6 months 
2️⃣after 2 Months I brought in intermittent fasting daily minimum 16 hours. I ate dinner at 5.30pm and nothing until lunch time 12/12.30 the following day. 
3️⃣ ive never added sweetner in my coffee. Just black with @temple_nutrition MCT oil or with almond milk/macadamia milk
4️⃣I did track my macros for the first week but I didn’t enjoy doing this so I researched all the low carb/keto foods, wrote lists and went with that. 
5️⃣i set alarms to remind myself to drink plenty of water. 
6️⃣ I exercise every day ..going for a walk, running, Reformed Pilates, weights, sit ups ....any of these but I do something (I get asked if I believe it’s necessary to lose the weight on keto.....)no but it helps speed it along, plus makes you feel amazing, helps your heart rate, your brain, your daily function and will help add tone to your body as you lose the weight. 
7️⃣ did I ever cheat or slip up? Of course! I’m no saint but I got over it and the next day was a brand new day. Don’t let it get you down, just keep going, you’ve got this!
8️⃣ my dinners were pretty much what I eat now, although I didn’t even start to make fathead pizzas until a year after starting keto. My lunches were similar, lots of eggs and avocado. 
9️⃣ if I felt like a snack I had a few almonds or slice of cheese.
🔟take the before and after photos, it’s very rewarding to look back and see how far you have come. I would weigh myself daily and wrote it down next to the date.

Had an awesome run today. It was at the end of a 48hr fast. I was feeling really frumpy the last few days and this totally helped. I'm in the losing road again and feeling good. Cant wait to see how much better my December progress is than November.

I am still ill 😰 and so bland food is the way forward. Am exhausted and nauseous ALOT !! But I am making the best of it with egg and cream pancakes with salt and butter. Cat had hers with stevia, and covered in choc, nut butter and cream...well jell! Hopefully I just have a lil infection and I can get back to eating real food soon. Today has been a little bit of toast, a smoothie, fridge raiders (@fridgeraidersuk are killing it) and pancakes! Not my usual flavourful affair but keeping it keto 😁 .

★BPC★ I don't have it often, maybe like once two/three weeks when I feel festive & want a super treat and even then I can't even finish the whole cup...but once in a while I do make it. ★ Butter & heavy cream, plus I do add SF flavoring - salted caramel is probably my fave, it kills the occasional need for a sweet treat which is seriously less & less on carnivore ★  I do drink lots of black coffee & this drink isn't about coffee for me, it's more a dessert type ★ I like the flexibility of carnivore - there's no real policing out there in the community (or I haven't experienced it yet) and you can see what works best for your body (real hard core carnis are steak & water only which I respect but not yet ready for such regiment) ★

LUNCH IS SERVED!🥗🥗🥗

Preheat oven to 400
While that happens
Season your Salmon to taste 
I like mine with a little #pinksalt
black pepper, cumin, and Adobo (hey I'm dominican!🇩🇴❤)
Place on aluminum
Add organic butter or coco oil
close up nice and neat, no air holes🥥
Place in oven for 20 minutes

Take out and pan fry to finish cooking and to make golden

While that happens
. 
Take a skillet
.
Add tbs of heavy cream🥛
Organic butter
Salt and pepper 
Basil
Oregano
.
Heat
.
Add cut up portobello mushrooms🍄🍄🍄

Cook till tender and mixed well with sauce
.
Serve over a bed of spinach and Tomatoes drizzled with olive oil and salt. 
You can add half an avocado too!

Today was the first time I’m really experiencing the decreased hunger associated with keto. I’ve been up since 11 (it is now 3:15) and I’m still not hungry! Usually by this time I am ravenous. I woke up, took a shower, watched a few youtube videos, studied, went to class, and took a final exam. Still nothing! Considering I spent almost all of my life addicted to food and letting my hunger run me, its an odd feeling. This is a cobb salad I picked up at my dining hall -sans dressing, I have my own- and I’m looking at it questioning why I bought it in the first place. Do you guys ever experience this? I think my brain is so used to me being hungry all the time that I automatically went and bought food because I knew I hadn’t eaten, without putting my actual hunger levels into consideration! Maybe my head is messing with me, who knows🤷🏻‍♀️ All I know is I can’t even stomach this right now. Still, this is a nice meal I’ll have for a late lunch when I DO get hungry. 
Another awesome thing: I woke up at 288 lbs this morning. It’s so crazy to me to see that things are actually happening. On other diets I would go a few weeks and see no progress at all, but on keto my body is ridiculously happy to dispel this weight on my body. I’m positive a lot of it is water weight, but I expected that to be over 9 days in! I feel amazing though, no signs of the keto flu anymore and I’m generally feeling a boost in my overall happiness. Having suffered from intense depression since the age of 12, I’m glad to see that my mood is shifting into more positive thoughts than negative ones. It’s slight, but fingers crossed it keeps going up from here 🤞🏻😊
