“The longer you keep your shutter open, the more light you’ll let in.” But my question was... “Where is all that light coming from—when it’s pitch black outside!?”
Understanding exposure, shutter speed, aperture, sensor and ISO are all complex subjects that were well explained in the @jp_teaches_photo_nyc Nighttime Long Exposure Photography Class. We spent two hours in Central Park learning about these items and practice makes perfect.
I took this photo this past weekend in the Catskill Mountain region of upstate New York. I love how the camera was able to absorb so much natural light that the naked eye cannot visibly see. I was stunned at the result of being able to see the Milky Way glimmer in the night sky.
30 sec exposure | ISO 3200 | aperture f3.5
It is a very dark thumbnail, I know. But it's the night sky with hundreds of stars. Had the chance to do a little stargazing when I got home from work. This is my favorite group of stars. It comes out clear from October to December. This was taken from my Samsung S9 on Pro setting. I took some pictures from my old S6 and it looks like the sensor on the S9 has so much improvement over the S6. The night sky was beautiful! Well, good-night everyone! 😊 #nightskyphotography#godsglory#theheavens#stars
I love to travel and explore my own country own city... It was a dream for me to do bag packing around the infamous Spiti Valley. Watching starts in mountain 🏔 in my greatest time pass while in trip. Started understanding their patterns and position after few months of using my favourite app called #stellarium . This is captured my me using my D7200 and Tokina 11-16mm 2.8f DX lens. It was cold winter in September in a remote village of spiti. We could see it only for half an hour due to dark clouds ☁️ This is my first successful Milky Way capture after a couple of unsuccessful attempts. #roadways_traveller#spiti @roadways_traveller #spitiwithtirtha#solotraveller#nightskyphotography#mrwideangle#tirphy#milkyway#himachal#iamnikon#travelforlife @nikonindiaofficial @nikonasia @spitiholiday @spitiecosphere @spitilife @spitivalleytours @milkywaychasers @himachalparivahan.hrtc @himachalpictures @hikersab_india @bikatadventures @hippie_in_hills @himalayas.in @himachali_kalagram

This pic was taken from inland sea. It was fun and everybody enjoyed the most, but due to some unforeseen circumstances some people(planned) were not able to join, and they cursed it I guess. Most of the memory card got corrupted. I recovered this photo somehow. I tried to bring some details, since it's a recovers file I'm not able to bring much details. Post processing was but tough. As a photographic point of view the trip was not successful, but as a trip it was awesome. And regarding the colour, it's kinda look the same, I haven't done much editing.
This picture is a testimony of our Good, Good Father! It was a very clear night in nz while I was taking pictures on the beach! I decided to go for bulb mode and as my camera was running for 17,5 minute I had still 12 big steps between my tripod and the rising water, high tide is a killer, but it looked enough: 12 big steps! At 18 minutes the water reached my tripod and the camera needed at least another 18 minutes for the noise reduction... I wanted this picture so badly that I prayed God maybe i should not ask for this but please keep the water away, hold the tide for another 18 minutes! I mean God created the tide so.... Guess what: the next 18 minutes the water stayed away for at least 2,5 to 3 meters from my tripod! The result is cool but the lesson is way better! God is my Good Good Father, and He cares about the very little things in my life! Things that I value! #thankyouJesus#Godscreation#goodgoodFather#travels#testimony#joy#ohopebeach#newzealand#journey#Jesususreal#stars#photography#nightskyphotography#milkyway#milkywaygalaxy#lifestylechristianity

I love the nature at night because it veils the Earth's ugliness. The beauty of nature shines more at night; a beautiful sky and sometimes a beautiful terrestrial subject. The ugliness is inconspicious and ineffective at night.
But the Lake Urmia is sad even at night. Even the night can not cover the face of the dry and thirsty lake. The darkness of the night can not conceal this bitter reality.
The lake is breathing its last and I will be its voice with these images; the voice of the insentient Urmia Lake.
