Proving my own mix of gluten free dough for a pizza later today. What a journey this has been! Six years ago, my gut was rejecting just about everything; today, I have more foods that have been successfully introduced. I still can’t have potato, which is commonly found in many commercial all purpose gluten free flour mixes, but I can have activated yeast, which allows the flour to rise with time to prove. Tip: try this hack at home by heating water in a separate bowl and shutting the dough inside your microwave to create a proving drawer or box. Most ovens in the US don’t have a proving drawer, just a storage drawer.
Joe knows I am serious about a dinner plan when I wake up requesting the dish! After getting confirmation that I was allowed to include bok choy in my diet, I figured we give that a try with some homemade steak fried rice. 🍚 When you are allergic to soy and cannot have soy sauce, sesame oil acts as a good alternative for frying rice. Your rice won't get that typical "fried rice" color, but the taste is still similar and overall healthier. What are some of your favorite fried rice combos?
Not that you need a reason to eat more avocados, but for an easy holiday appetizer, try my AIP Pomegranate Guacamole! (Or as I like to call it, "Christmas Guac!")
This Paleo, nightshade-free snack is full of flavor from the pomegranate seeds, cilantro, and a hint of orange juice. Plus, the colors are gorgeous and festive. 😍 Make this your new go-to recipe for upcoming Christmas & New Year's parties! 🥑🎄🥑

Makeup free klaxon! Sorry if I’ve put you off breakfast 🤣 The Kids have gone out (that’s 1 x Daught and 1 x Husb to you) so it’s a “me day” today. Starting with a new eye gel by @theordinary_th I’ve heard so much about it from a friend who looks fabulous (she’s 12 years younger than me so I might be clasping at straws here 😳) Anyhoo, you could say I’ve literally been to hell and back this year and it’s showing. Pale, flat complexion, with tired eyes (not to mention laughter lines but hey you gotta laugh) so at 47, yes I’m *that* old and I said it out loud, I want to make sure the next hospital stays don’t ruin my complexion further 🙄 It’s cruelty free too AND affordable so what’s not to love! Got the whole range on my Christmas list, I’ve been good Santa honest (I’ve not had chance to be bad!!!) #saturday
Do you have to avoid white potatoes this Hanukkah season? The classic latkes (potato pancakes) can easily be substituted with other ingredients to fit your dietary restriction and still allow you to enjoy this holiday favorite! •
For one, swap white potatoes with sweet potatoes! 🥔➡️🍠 While this is an easier and more common switch, I prefer to go with cauliflower. Not only is it a healthier alternative, it still carries a similar taste to the original latke recipe! •

For lunch, Joe and I enjoyed tumeric grass-fed beef burgers on a gluten free bun made by @happycampersgf 🍔 •
We discovered this bread brand while we were in Northern California and absolutely loved it. We now ship loafs to our coast since no stores by us sell it. We were so pumped when we noticed their online store has burger buns! •
What is your favorite gluten free bread brand for burger buns?
What is Leaky Gut?
A healthy gut works like a cloth allowing only nutrients through, keeping out larger particles, bacteria and parasites. In the case of leaky gut, the tight junctions between the cells on the GI tract become wider, due to the protein Zonulin. This allows larger particles, bacteria and parasites to pass through into the circulatory system, activating the immune system. Over time this over worked immune system will lead to more complex issues like food sensitivities, decreased adaptation to your training, an increase in the recovery time need, alongside leaving you wide open to infection (getting the flue more often). So as you can see it’s not ideal situation to be in.
So who is susceptible?
Well pretty much everyone unfortunately. Here are a few signs to look out for that may indicates the possibility of you unknowingly suffering from leaky gut. Irritable bowel syndrome (i.e., bouts of either diarrhoea or constipation), gassiness, stomach upset, fatigue, dehydration, muscle weakness, strength deficits or plateaus, inability to gain weight or muscle size, lack of focus, and inhibited performance measures, just to name a few.
What to avoid & prevent performance drops ?
Starting off on your investigation to stop these GI issues you should cut out all foods containing gluten (wheat, rye, barley) for example, all dairy products and night shades. You’re probably asking what the hell are night shades.
So as an endurance or field-based athlete you’re probably thinking to your self that a lot of the foods you are eating to “carb load” or “carb cycle” for the days leading up to your event/events are carbohydrate foods containing gluten i.e. no more bread, pasta and defiantly no more pizza. Well fear not I’ve got you covered. Head over to our blog where ill be giving you suggestions of carb dense foods that don’t contain any of these triggers

Is it too early? I love my mug so much I couldn’t resist. Having a gingerbread green tea and chilling in front of Fortitude 3 (still don’t get it). Finished first unit of course AND got discharged from district nurses. No more dressings wahoo! #thirstythursday
no nightshade-corn-grain-dairy-soy taco, and double thumbs up from the eat-it-all-ers 💃
spiced, pulled chicken, roasted cauli-portobello mix with fresh oregano, green onion, guacamole with orange juice + zest, macadamia crema + quick pickled onion .. piled onto @sietefoods cashew tortilla .. served with cumin-scented sweet potato soup + garlic kale
My kids have food intolerances. I want them to enjoy eating and I want to give them things that don’t make me cringe 😖
We don’t eat dairy, eggs, several fruits and veggies, oats, cinnamon, annnd more 🤦🏻♀️ Sometimes I feel like a failure and sometimes I knock it out of the park 🙌🏼 Tonight’s loaded nachos were a hit all around!!! These kids are super cool and I’m blessed to be their mama ♥️
I made chili in the crockpot for the boys this morning before work and when I came home at lunch I was pretty determined to not be left out this time!Came up with this concoction & made it happen all on my 20 min lunch break! 😰 and it actually turned out!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Ground beef, sweet potatoes, celery, onion, pumpkin purée, coconut milk, water, parsley, oregano, onion powder, garlic powder & sea salt 👍🏼 #aip#nightshadefree#paleo#aippaleo
I was going to just drink the green juice but having realised I’m still recovering AND on my second unit of my nutrition course I threw in the other bits 😬 (tahini is the only way to get my sesame seeds now 🙄) #wednesday
Seitan aka gluten is literally made by making bread dough and washing away the starch until all you have left is the gluten. Less popular than tofu, but it's been a part of Chinese diet just the same long before veganism. My mom calls this monk food lol
Seitan, bok choy, and udon noodles in a pho spice broth
Baby’s first smoothie bowl! I know it’s surprising it took me so long to hop on this Instagram bandwagon but TBH I’m not the biggest smoothie-for-breakfast fan. I was assigned to make this blueberry oat smoothie in class for our new restorative health module so of course I had to make it extra. Topped with coconut flakes, almonds, hemp seeds, thinly sliced persimmons, bee pollen and blueberries. Packed with lots of fiber and healthy fats!
There are some foods that feel super nostalgic. For me, manicotti and Caesar salad is one of those foods. I have not had manicotti in close to a decade, so tonight, I decided to try my hand at it.
I made gluten, dairy, and nightshade free manicotti (brown rice noodles, homemade cashew cheese filling, nomato sauce) with kale Caesar, and I'm a very happy lady!
I did add a tiny bit of pecorino Romano because I tolerate sheep cheese, but it honestly didn't need it. Next time I make this, I'll write down the recipe. 👌
Every Tuesday I get to hang out with my mother @eileenalper and my cousin while we bake many many items to bring around the city to 14 locally owned business every week.
