Y’all I did something amazing today...I crushed another one of my goals. I wanted to get goats not just for their amazing personalities and crazy antics, but to be able to provide my family with fresh and healthy raw milk. Bubba has had a hard time transitioning to whole cows milk and since he’s made the switch to Merida’s milk he’s had less upset tummies and diaper rash! Plus all 3 of our kids love the taste better than anything you can buy in the store! But I knew I wanted to make goat cheese from the beginning and today I did it! Using the fresh milk that I hand milked, I actually made yummy, crumbly, goat cheese! I am so proud of myself. Goating isn’t all fun, it’s hard work, sacrifice, sweat (so much sweat) and love. However, it’s absolutely worth it to me. If you would’ve told me a few years ago that I’d be milking a goat and making my own cheese I would’ve said you were nuts but I swear these goats have taught me more about my self than any other journey I’ve taken (aside from motherhood 😉) happy goating y’all! #goatlife#goatsmilk#goatcheese#raw#organic#homemade#nigeriandwarfgoat#fortheloveofgoats#goatingainteasy#mypassion
It is with a very heavy heart I make this posting. This is Billy. This is one of my favourite photos of him, when he was just a baby, about 1.5 years ago. Over the weekend, we lost Billy to a grizzly bear attack. I was not home when this happened and have been holding out hope that he just got chased into the woods and would come back, but it appears this is not the case. We are very very sad at the loss of this sweet boy. He is the first large animal I have lost on my farm and it has been very devastating. My herd is not the same without him. I have been so disturbed by this event we have actually relocated the remaining goats to a new property where I feel they will be safer. I love you Billy. ❤ #goat#nigeriandwarfgoat#farmlife#loss
Never ones to miss out on a tasty snack. They’re always right behind me when I’m cutting brush. Our neighbors have been clearing their land and it’s pushing predators (likely a fox) onto our property. I’ll now be spending all my free time clearing up any hiding spots so there will be no more chickens taken😭
Hooray! It’s #MeetMyGoatMonday again! Since I haven’t actually done a formal intro on here in a while, this is Crash! ❤️🐐 he is our Nigerian Dwarf goat whether. He was born on April 20th of this year so he’s about to be 5 months old! 😍👏🏻🐐 Crash is a great companion to our doe Gracie and he follows her around like a puppy. He also enjoys chin scratches, licorice treats, and standing on the picnic table on our porch so he can look in the window when we are watching tv. 😂as you can see from the photo, he also enjoys eating! ❤️
