Such a good day at work today! Finally got to experience the expedition with @forgottenworldadventures! Such an amazing trip, starting with a helicopter ride in the morning over the beautiful Whanganui national park, a walk down to the Bridge to Nowhere and a Jet boat ride up the Whanganui river. What a day
If you’re travelling the South Island of New Zealand you should definitely check out Dunedin 😍
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The drive out along the Otago Peninsula is just incredible! Not only do you get to drive along the beautiful coastal road but at the end there’s a chance of seeing the Royal Albatross bird and the endangered Yellow Eyed Penguin - among lots of other wonderful creatures 🙊
A sweeping vista from near Papamoa, New Zealand. I don't plan my travels & movements whatsoever & except to avoid extreme cold if possible, I ignore the weather too. In the case of NZ, that meant wet & chilly conditions both times I went. The sunny day in this shot was a rare exception. So I cut short my visits. Instead of 3 months I was allowed to stay each time, I stayed less than a month. NZ is also too expensive for my taste & style of travel. Moreover, all the way from the embassy & immigration staff (even during exit!) to regular folk, I found the natives cold & unfriendly towards me. I know that differs from the usual perception of the country & its citizens, but then again my skintone is not the usual one associated with travelers. The only saving grace was being able to meet so many of my travel buddies from around the world - folks I had met in Madagascar, San Francisco, Singapore, South Africa etc., many of who hosted me thus easing the stress on my wallet somewhat. Maybe third time will be the charm. But I am not too keen on giving them another chance. There are so many more beautiful, friendlier & cheaper places that are welcoming.
