WAIHI, it’s worth the stop
I recently had a wee stop in Waihi and was delighted with what I discovered.
First things first, FOOD: check out @eaten34rosemontrdwaihi for great @fusioncoffee and they had many GF sweet treats on offer in their funky little cafe.
I came across @korufloristandhom and decided this is probably one of thee best giftware shops I have come across in a long time. Giftware by @stellaandgemma and many other treasures - this is a great place to pick up a bunch of flowers and do some serious Xmas shopping. You may recognise the owner from the @yourhomeandgarden as her gorgeous house was recently featured. They don’t have an online store, so a trip to the store is a must. Warning: you won’t come away empty handed.
Then I stumbled across @laughingpottery a gorgeous shop full with many lovely pieces made by the owner who makes onsite. His wheel sits just behind the counter. I picked up a couple of things for mum, the sand of Waihi Beach make the speckled appearance on the inside glaze on the bowls I selected. I love a good story and I love NZ made. He does have an online store and also runs pottery classes.
Two shops Dillimores and The sustainable pantry sit side by side and are definitely worth a look. Dillimores has an extensive range of furnishings and if only the car was larger I could have snuck in a pretty nice coffee table too. Right next door the sustainable pantry has a large selection of bulk foods.
There is also an antique shop if that’s your thing and an a few op shops spotted around the town.
I spent an hour wandering and was happy I made the stop.
We have an exciting kitchen upgrade coming to the Boatsheds this Labour Weekend which unfortunately means the cafe will be closing early on Sunday 21st October at 4pm and will remain closed on Labour Day (Monday 22nd October) but don’t worry, we will be up and running as usual on Tuesday 23rd October! Boat and Bike Hire will be open throughout the whole weekend with our usual opening hours.
Calling all KIWI's. No food retailer likes throwing food away, but unfortunately food charities can’t always collect the food offered for donation. Now there is an alternative for the food retailers. Now they can donate the food to KiwiHarvest through the Y Waste App where it is sold and all the proceeds go to support the great work KiwiHarvest is doing for the local communities. http://supermarketnews.co.nz/kiwiharvest-partners-with-y-waste/
