Taking the new hobby and gathered knowledge over a year to the next level.
This year anise swallowtails have been abundant due to many reasons: massive fires wiping off hugely their population followed by rain showers.
In many areas of California many swallowtail members reported missing sighting them. Our season started as early as mid February and we try to increase their population by taking in eggs and raise them indoor to give them a higher survival rate than 2 percent in nature.
Lots of readings and exchanges with experienced butterfly enthusiasts, lead me to a new challenge to repopulate the anise swallowtail in many areas of CA.
Last week has been long hours of work to make sure many as possible emerged anise swallowtail will mate and leave some eggs before releasing them back to mother nature.
With 11 natural mated couples I could obtain 500 plus eggs. Keeping 10perc and the rest will be distributed across CA in areas where the butterfly had gone missing. Collecting eggs was made easier in a covered carrot pot, yet to plug each single egg by hand and to do the counting was very time consuming.
The mission is completed and their new fostering parents will do their best bring this beautiful messenger back to their area. It takes villages to make a difference.
If you are in CA and would love to contribute to this little project, we are happy to share the next generation of anise swallowtail.

#TBT to my last season when I strapped on the pads in Germany. I was obsessed with football from the age 7 onward. It consumed me. I can thank the game for the skills it has taught me that go far outside the grid iron and the people it has put into my life.
These days I've shifted my obsession to @caveteam and continuing to build our business. The passion I had for football didn't die, it just got passed on to work. Hell, if I threw a football today my arm might fall off.
