Day 9: Wonky Donkey
The book behind the YouTube sensation of a granny reading this story to her grandchild, viewed over 3 million times.
Who ever heard of a spunky hanky-panky cranky stinky-dinky lanky honky-tonky winky wonky donkey?
This hilarious picture book will have children - and adults - in fits of laughter!
Who’s your favourite author?⠀
I have five, depending on my mood: ⠀
Daphne Du Maurier ⠀
Rosamunde Pilcher is my go-to whenever I’m in the mood for some comfort reading, and so after two weeks on the move, ferrying between Yorkshire, The Lake District, London, The Cotswolds and Somerset, I’ve been enjoying some much needed downtime, in front of the fire, mince pie in hand and endless cups of piping hot tea on tap, getting lost in Pilcher’s charming Cornish world.⠀
I hope you’ve all had a wonderful and book-filled weekend, wherever in the world you are 💞⠀
New read to review, though I'm not a runner it sounds excellent 🏃♀️Divorced and struggling with deep-rooted mental health problems, Bella Mackie ended her twenties in tears. She could barely find the strength to get off the sofa, let alone piece her life back together. Until one day she did something she had never done of her own free will – she pulled on a pair of trainers and went for a run.
That first attempt didn’t last very long. But to her surprise, she was back out there the next day. And the day after that. She began to set herself achievable goals – to run 5k in under 30 minutes, to walk to work every day for a week, to attempt 10 push-ups in a row. Before she knew it, her mood was lifting for the first time in years.
In Jog On, Bella explains with hilarious and unfiltered honesty how she used running to battle crippling anxiety and depression, without having to sacrifice her main loves: booze, cigarettes and ice cream. With the help of a supporting cast of doctors, psychologists, sportspeople and friends, she shares a wealth of inspirational stories, research and tips that show how exercise often can be the best medicine. This funny, moving and motivational book will encourage you to say ‘jog on’ to your problems and get your life back on track – no matter how small those first steps may be.
Ahhh!! Thanks to @moonlight_rendezvous for this great shot of HIDDEN SECRETS and the Siren Cove series by @jannine_gallant 💛💙 #Repost @moonlight_rendezvous with @get_repost
Today I'm so happy to be working with TLC tours in spotlighting the Siren Cove series by Jannine Gallant. This series looks incredible and I can't wait to read the rest of it.
On the coast of Oregon, the small town of Siren Cove harbors frightening secrets . . .
Antiques shop owner Paige Shephard has a good eye for finding rare treasures in other people’s junk. But when it comes to her love life, her instincts aren’t so sharp. If only she could stop comparing every man she meets to her best friend, Quentin Radcliff . . .
A LAID-BACK LIFESTYLE
Opening a new restaurant in his former hometown of Siren Cove gives Quentin a much-needed break from the string of women he’s been dating—and allows him the space to reconnect with Paige. But being with her after all this time awakens a long-denied desire.
AN INESCAPABLE DANGER
With Quentin at her side—and in her bed—Paige should be happy at last. But she’s unsettled by a series of break-ins at her shop. Figuring out why she’s being targeted is as difficult as figuring out her complicated relationship with Quentin. And when a local woman disappears—and Quentin becomes the main suspect—they’ll have to dig deep into the deadly secrets of Siren Cove’s past to clear his name—and find any hope of a future together.

The colour Orange has such a vibrant and appealing look to the eye, hence these two books that I've been dying to read. Aren't they stunning? Full of warmth that are needed during winter.
I treated myself to the new collection of essays by @olivia.sudjic who is a brilliant contemporary female writer, as well as a fantastic person who loves meeting fans of her books. I cannot wait to read her new essays on anxiety and the raise of feminism through the internet.
Another great book I've been itching to read and very thankful to @viragopress in sending me a copy: #houseofglass by #susanfletcher which is going to my next read. I've heard only amazing things about it, making me eager to get started once I finish #ottessamoshfegh#eileen which is living up to its hype.
A celebration in some great reads to look forward to in the next few weeks.
Here's to the colour orange 🍊 and feeling some sort of brightness even if it's cold and wintery, books seem to display an atmosphere in seasons, that transports us to that place and feeling, if it be sunny or snowy outside, you can always cosy up with a great read.
