Having a bit of fun with the filters 😬
Leg day DONE 💪. Whew. It's going to be 🔥 this week in the PNW and no AC at home. That workout is tough and it had to happen before the heat hit. But on a side note... 💘 this new workout. 40 minutes and on my way. .
While I was sipping on my preworkout I was watching the news. I probably shouldn't. 😢 There was a shooting at the Trader Joe's in LA and then a Breaking News locally where an officer was killed.
I'm struggling with the violence this morning, emotionally. Maybe it's worse since my daughter is pregnant, it feels scarier somehow. So I'm headed out to grocery shop and trying not to blubber in public. What do we need to do to end this violence? 😢
@lifewithzae115 Please hug my girl and tell her Mimi loves her. .
• 2 WEEKS 🅿🅾🆂🆃-🅲🆁🅰🆂🅷 🆄🅿🅳🅰🆃🅴 🚴🏻♀ •⠀
So many "firsts" this week!⠀
✽ laughing without pain #smallwins ⠀
✽ got on the bike trainer for some light cardio 🚲 #trainingforpiedmont ⠀
✽ off the heavy meds, which made me foggy and constipated⠀
✽ went out on the town without incident 🎶 #weezer#pixies ⠀
✽ wore my own clothes (i.e., wearing a bra and my own top vs. men's XL tees 😜 ➡ pictured here)⠀
A little better, but still challenging:⠀
↣ walking: still slow 👵🏼, and carrying anything is uncomfortable⠀
↣ that 'burning' rib area underneath my armpit: lidocaine patches are my friend⠀
↣ right arm: minimal active range of motion and can’t carry anything more than a drink in my right hand (which is admittedly handy! 🥃)⠀
↣ clavicle: "clicks" when I move around, which is not only disconcerting but often painful⠀
↣ lungs: not at full capacity plus coughs, hiccups, and sneezes are to be avoided at all costs ❌ #ouch ⠀
This week not only did the severity of my injuries set in, but also the slow path to recovery that will ensue. Not gonna lie, it bummed me out a bit, but it also reinforced the need to listen to my body and to have compassion for all that it takes to heal. Deep breathing and naps were helpful here.⠀
Lastly, I continue to be awed by the love in this world, from my community, and from @rigopulos , who remains my steadfast helper, guardian, and partner in all things.⠀
My first watercolor painting class thanks to @creativetribeworkshop I normally only work with acrylics because I could never control oils or watercolors, so I was excited to get the chance to actually learn some techniques from Watercolorist @hollycarton . Definitely going to keep at it. Get ready to see a lot more succulents 😁
Thanks for hosting us @colonyclubdc
I have never had a ‘career’.
I was raised to be an artist, BY an artist, with my artist brothers, but told to ‘GET REAL’. Get a REAL JOB, go to college, have a job that pays well GIVING YOU FREEDOM. .
And, pulled in two directions, I never did anything. I continued to job hop from one easy hire to the next, day dreaming about the stories I would write and what the pictures would look like, but spending all my free time on google researching what I COULD be if I took THIS class...
I grew up with Artists. Musicians. Actors. A lot of them have become very successful. This has me feeling like a failure these days as I wash cars in the dim light. I’m happy for them- of course- but I feel the time wasted gathering up on the floor beneath me and I am getting clumsy. I’m lazy. I’ll tell you what.
I’m giving up the daily stress I put myself through in trying to find ‘my career’.
I am dedicating all my free time to my art. As long as I do that, as long as I am releasing my build up, then nothing is wasted, and THAT is success. .
What is success to you? .
I know I’ve posted this before but I think it warrants another reminder (to myself). Most often we live our life by what’s expected of us 🙋♀️ rather than what inspires us. That’s why I’m getting back to things that inspires and brings me joy.
Take time today to do something that brings you joy and makes you feel alive!

Fitness on a budget! Whether you are strapped for cash, working within a strict budget or just want to be more mindful of spending, it can be an obstacle to getting fit. Boutique studios and cute workout clothes are a luxury, not a necessity to getting fit. (Although, I will say in my experience they are both worth every penny.) However, since I love a good challenge, I am going to use only my gym membership for the next three months to see how much money I can save. I got the gym membership so I could use the treadmills and the pool, but they offer a wide variety of group classes as well. I'm not very conscientious of my spending so this will be a good exercise for me. #fitnessonabudget#moneyskills#learningtobudget#fitmoney •
P.S. This is sideways on purpose. I totally meant to do that.

Our Earth is huge and a lot of people don’t realize that... Let me explain what I mean. Most people are born and raised in one country and they never venture out of it, and hardly learn about new countries. There are 195 countries! Don’t you feel like you’re missing out on something, like there’s something you’re missing? Strive to learn more, not repeat what you already know. #travel#livelife
I really believe in that old saying ~ Laughter is the best medicine ~ I can’t imagine getting through a day without laughter! I really do cherish those friends and loved ones who I have a connection with, we don’t need to be speaking about anything, in particular, but, all of a sudden, we find ourselves collapsing in heaps of giggles... it has such a powerful effect on our body and mind that, for hours afterwards, we can feel uplifted and have that lovely warm feeling of wellbeing and that’s because laughter really does cause physiological effects within the body......... ✅Laughter relaxes the body relieving physical tension and stress.
✅Laughter boosts the immune system by decreasing stress hormones and, in turn, increasing infection-fighting antibodies.
✅Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemical which promote that overall feeling of wellbeing and can even temporarily relieve pain.
✅Laughter burns calories!
✅Laughter may protect the heart by improving the function of blood vessels and increasing blood flow.
✅Laughter improves the mood and strengthens resilience. Notice how your problems never seem quite as overwhelming after you’ve shared a good chat and a giggle with a friend!
Plus, it just makes for a happier, lighter atmosphere..... Life really is too short to be serious all the time!
Have a wonderful Sunday and, whatever you’re up to today, make sure it involves one or two really good laughs!!😂❤️🙌🏼

You must've heard this quote which goes along the lines of... "the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is NOW!" 2017 has been and continues to be the year that I've explored 'the present/the now' and has been the first time I have a true sense of the incredible value that it brings.
Remember what you did/what words you spoke/what you watched/what you heard 30 mins ago. What can you about those things? Can you change them? No. Those things have now formed a tiny contribution to your past. As much as whatever it is you did 3 years or 10 years ago.
Unchangeable, irreversible. Yet we spend so much time and energy with regrets and re-tracking over our 'shoulda's-coulda's-woulda's'. What does that bring? Nothing but suffering.
All we ever have is now - the present. Or the gift. What we do now/what choices we make will determine what our future will look like - common knowledge. But if we don't fully appreciate the present, how can we become the conquerors of our future?
The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is NOW.
All we have is now - appreciate it... 🔸
