The meaning behind minimalism has evolved over decades. @merriamwebster defines minimalism as: "a style or technique (as in music, literature, or design) that is characterized by extreme spareness and simplicity." It can be applied aesthetically, when it comes to art, photography, and design, including interior design and architecture. There's #minimalistfashion that lets you form a capsule wardrobe to simplify and refine your closet space, making selections easier and efficiently with all of your favorite (and more sustainable) belongings. Finally, there's the #minimalistlifestyle that declutters your home of everything that you do not use or value, to be less materialistic and consumeristic and to live your life with more intention, purpose, and meaning with experiences and relationships. All of these are worth talking about and all of them are legit. There are many blogs and books around the world worth reading about minimalism.
I'm working on expressing myself more simply, but let's just say that here, when it comes to crafting with crochet, I'm applying minimalism in both design and life. Simplifying patterns and designs aesthetically and simplifying the number of projects to do in favor of productivity and focus. Minimizing my yarn selections to favorite brands and minimizing color choices to #neutrals . These are simply my choices to help me comfortably enjoy the experience that comes with doing my craft while living my life with my husband. I don't want to be overwhelmed by all the projects I've yet to do, overloaded by all the yarn I desire to use and buy, or compelled to catch up with the joneses and have shiny object syndrome, amongst other things. I do find there is a subtle strength in simplicity. It gives you space to breathe.

Setting the vibe for our very first client with a mood board she can start using to make a few purchases. We can not stretch the importance of this part in the design process enough. This is what you need to have on you at ALL times. It will help you to stay on track, buying items that will work together over the long run instead of following the latest trend every month and ending up with odd bits and ends.
I’m taking a break from dying (that sounds weird but context...) today to do some chunky crocheting! ➿
One of the best things about crafting is that there’s always something new to learn. I’ve recently discovered the game-changing technique of crocheting through the back loop - ideal for creating a flexible ridge when making baskets - which helps separate the base from the body. Simple but effective!
I love decorating and making spaces have a special meaning....walking into a clean organized room makes this momma happy! .
