As far back as anyone could remember, this place has been used as a #dumping ground for all unwanted pets and #abandoned#kittens .
When we first set foot in this place, we were overwhelmed by the foul smell from #carcasses of dead #cats and the sight of the many starving and #struggling ones, trying to survive on whatever leftovers some #charitable#humans could provide for them once in a while. Disease was everywhere. #Newborn kittens - abandoned before they were weaned - were looking for their #moms and reaching out for anything with warm fur, even other slightly older kittens. They would huddle #together to #brave the #cold nights and face the rats and other #dangers that come out at night. It was difficult for us to work under these #conditions . But we could not let it be. We could not abandon them. We did all we could to help by providing daily, consistent, nutritional meals and #medications to ease their #hunger and their #pain . We did it for months. We were motivated.
Then, some charitable souls from all over the #world saw our posts and helped us with some #funds that we used to renovate that place. The place that was used as a #dumping ground, is now turning into a haven for forlorn and forsaken kitties. We realize that fixing the place, will not fix the problem, so we are also planning to use the funds to #spay & #neuter 100 cats that live there and in the surrounding #areas . So far, our #TNR program has fixed 20 cats. With the help of and in coordination with Dr. Mohammed Drissi - to whom we are very grateful for his time, his commitment and his #efforts - we are determined to improve the conditions of these #helpless#animals .
The following video, produced by the talented @walidndart , shows the different stages of the renovations taking place. We are not done yet. This is work in progress. We intend to turn a #sad place into a #happy place for the abandoned animals. We are motivated!

Goshhh... That the result when human can't hold their hand for sharing their food with their pet. Overweight. 😞😢
❗️PSA to fellow baby pet owners : beware of getting your pet spayed / neutered at the Humane Society. I wanted to save some money and support a good cause, so I decided to get little Bennie fixed at the HS. Granted, I should’ve thought about this beforehand, but after he left the mobile surgery unit, he was infested with fleas. I didn’t even notice at first, but when I did, it was too late. I tried for weeks to get rid of them with no luck. Of course they transferred to Khali, so I finally had to take them to my trusted vet. Turns out that if your pets accidentally ingest a flea, it can turn into a parasite and cause worms. $350.00, multiple preventative shots and 2 medications later, the fleas are on their way out. It will still take 2-3 months, so I will be deep cleaning my whole apartment until they are completely gone. The babies have to go BACK to the vet for more shots in 3 weeks, which will be another $80.00. Moral of the story, if you’re planning on going to the HS for a spay or neuter, be sure to give your pet a flea medication before hand if you can. A $30.00 bill turned into a $400.00 bill and a lot of discomfort for my pets. It’s not really the Humane Society’s fault, but in my opinion they should probably warn you about that in the beginning. We all know fleas happen, but just like in my case, you don’t always remember to take the necessary measures. Make sure you protect your babies!🐱🐜 #catsofinstagram#cats#kittens#HumaneSociety#fleas#spay#neuter#vet#psa#pets#petsofinstagram
TNR People - why? not because we want to eradicate cats in Oman (yes some people believe that is what we are trying to do 🙄), but because we want to reduce the current over population of cats on our streets. There are millions out there struggling for food and living a really tough life. That’s not fair and we can help make their lives easier by reducing the breeding, the need to fight, the sad plight of many kittens born to already malnourished mama cats.
You might ask “how can I help”, it’s easy: - TNR just one cat
- adopt don’t shop
- if you can’t TNR, support those that do.
- spay/neuter your pets
- don’t abandon your pets when you leave
WORDS ARE NOT ENOUGH-CHANGE REQUIRES ACTION.

This #caturday goes out to Ellie. Ellie and her litter mates were rescued off the mean NYC streets this past summer. At just a couple of weeks ago these babies had little hope of surviving on their own. Thankfully a couple of Good Samaritans took notice of them and took action. They didn’t have very much cat rescue experience but just knew they wanted to help (and when there’s a will there’s a way) and we’re happy to say they were all saved. Ellie is living the good and spoiled life now. She had been vaccinated through @positivetails and was finally old enough to be spayed which happened yesterday with special thanks to @cityveterinarycare
It is impossible to save them all but Ellie is one of the lucky ones thanks to some very kind individuals that refused to ignore her plight.
Carol, founder of @carolsferals makes me happy. She has been my mentor over the past year. She started out with a mission to help all cats through TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) She knew that the community cats that don't have a home still deserved the best chance at life. The only way to do this was to humanely trap and neuter these cats, and put them back where they were found.
She then expanded to create a rescue for the friendly community cats. These cats are often subjected to neglect, abuse, and abandonment.
With the help of so many who shared in her mission, we have today Carol's Ferals; a wonderful organization that I am proud to be a part of.
And in the famous words of Bob Barker, "Help control the pet population, have your pet spayed or neutered."
The rumors are true, they took my balls and my hernia, that’s three bumps... All I did was take a nap and this happened. Three bumps in one day 😥 On top of that our heat is out so I’m cold and bumpless!
Happy #FurryFridays events coming up w/ @mcanimalcare include: SATURDAY Doggies & Drag 11 am-3pm at @kobaltbarphoenix & MONDAY Free #spay#neuter at 2500 W 27th Ave. at 7 am. See you soon!! #shelterpets
Did you know spaying prevents more than just unwanted puppies? Unspayed female dogs are at a high risk of developing both mammary cancer and a life-threatening uterine infection called #pyometra . In pyometra, the uterus fills with pus, causing signs such as lethargy, poor appetite, increased urination, vaginal discharge and even death. This poor #goldenretriever pup was feeling pretty crummy but perked up immediately after her spay, the treatment of choice for pyometra.
