Thanks to all my friends here for spending our time with joy of getting to know each other and grow together. Unluckily not all of the AMC's athletes were present. I had a good laugh today with u guys. And my netball team, we've done our best and got to the quarter final unfortunately we lost. But we never train in an actual netball court and we don't have all the necessity that we need for netball. Actually all of the representing teams went to the quarter final and lost. 📌We are a couple of weeks into our Off-Season Netball Strength and Conditioning Program. Our goals in the off-season are to
➡Hit the ground running next year! – the netball off-season is the perfect time to prepare the body for the physical demands of next season and to give yourself the best possible chance for a healthy, injury free netball season
➡Boost netball performance - When we strength train. We are not just training the muscles. We are training the nervous system and our ability to produce high threshold motor units. Strength is the foundation for maximising power which is DEPENDENT on the nervous system. In the off-season we want to focus on improving general strength to improve our power. Then working in the pre-season and the in-season to apply it so we can run faster, jump higher and change direction quicker on court
➡Prevent injuries – we will be using this time to clean up faulty movement patterns and muscular imbalances that could predispose you to injury in the 2019 season. Faulty movement patterns ingrain poor motor patterns that lead to INJURY
✅The off-season is arguably the most crucial time for an athlete to focus on maintaining strength and conditioning and preparing the body for the next season

📌The HIGHEST rate of sport related non-contact ACL injuries occurs in FEMALES during adolescence
📌High school female athletes are almost 10 x more likely to sustain an ACL injury then males
Throughout childhood motor performance and strength increase in a linear fashion for BOTH males and females. There is actually no difference in performance and landing mechanics between boys and girls PRE-PUBERTY♀♂
However, following puberty males show accelerated motor performance and strength gains💪 as a result of the adolescent growth spurt✅ Whereas, females actually DECLINE or PLATEAU following puberty⚠⚠⚠
🛇THIS IS A BIG ISSUE FOR FEMALES🛇
Following puberty, girls♀ actually CHANGE the way they land from a jump. Specifically, in the later stages of maturation females land with significantly more valgus knee motion (knocked knees and is main predictor of ACL injury) then male athletes. Females also land with significantly LESS knee flexion then pre-pubertal females and post-pubertal males. Placing them at a higher injury risk👎
📌One study also found that following puberty females showed linear increases in quadriceps strength, however their hamstring muscle strength remained the same. This creates a large imbalance between the 2 muscle groups = increasing knee injury risk⚠
What can you do about it?
✅✅Participate in a properly supervised and structured strength training program✅✅
Strength training has been shown to;
➡Improve landing mechanics – studies have shown female athletes landing with MORE knee flexion and LESS valgus knee motion following strength training programs
➡Improve quadriceps to hamstring strength ratio – the hamstring muscles are an important stabiliser of the knee joint and stronger hamstrings = ⬇ knee injury risk!
➡It IMPROVES athletic performance – Females ⬇ performance following puberty. Strength training has been shown to improve sprint time, change of direction speed and jumping height (all needed for netball)
♀🛇I would argue that young female athletes participating in cutting and pivoting sports are MOST in need of strength training considering they have the highest knee injury incidence

sekali mama dengar jeritan yg kuat dan happy sgt pd wajah adik... mama dpt gambarkan ada 1 perasaan yg amat2 adik gembira sekali.. wajah kegembiraan adik berubah naik terus 100/100.. masa pendaftaran,taklimat, masa dlm bilik wajah kegembiraan adik mama nampak cuma 50/50 je..happy tapi tak happy dlm hati.. baru lah mama nampak adik bersemangat... dan mama balik pun dgn hati yg senang... terima kasih cikgu sbb hantar humairah juga..
