Let’s all congratulate Erin Jansa as our current member of the week! And month! Erin has been a member at Studio ME since September of 2016. She has improved her endurance on the rowing machine and is dominating the kettlebells. So much so that she just completed a 150 mile bike ride in two days with Team Hop Wheels. Way to go Erin!!!
According to Erin, "before joining Studio ME, I was already a regular exerciser, but had been with the same gym for many years. And although I liked the classes they offered, my workouts were getting boring and I wanted to try something totally new.”
"I've been happy at Studio ME because the instructors and members are welcoming, the classes accommodate all ability levels, and I don't feel intimidated. I'm 48 this year and have a very physical job as an inpatient nurse--very little sitting and lots of heavy lifting. " "It's not flashy, but my fitness goal is to engage in a wide variety of fitness activities, 4-6 times a week, to maintain strength and prevent injury. With encouraging instructors, who nudge me to try a little harder. "
You've have to get outside your comfort zone if you want to see real results! Just ask Erin. Next time you see her, give her a high five! .

:::: Dirt Party has an official Dirt Party sign now, designed by @berlyrobin :::: The space is really shaping up, in a chaotic and beautiful way, thanks to many hands - including our neighbor Angella, who has been stopping by with her grandson every day, putting in lots of the plants folks have donated, and seeding flowers too. :::: In only a few weeks, I’ve gotten to know her and so many other neighbors - and their dreams for the place and community we share. :::: This Sunday eve, you’re invited to join us for pizza - made in an oven that was created on a whim one night by our neighbor Seth, with bricks from another neighbor’s old chimney. :::: Wild-building! :::: We’ll also be making “biochar” on Sunday - a kind of charcoal that is used to enrich soil. This involves a pretty spectacular (and totally safe) fire-in-a-barrel. :::: We’ll be carving messages and poems into the wood before we heat it up, and those messages will be buried here (and elsewhere) - nourishing life below ground for thousands of years, I’m told. :::: Really grateful for this opportunity to dig in the dirt together - looking forward to seeing what grows from it. :::: Watch for a community Dirt Party Instagram, and I will step back a bit from these enthusiastic updates. :::: #dirtpartyne#growingcommunity#communitygarden#nempls ::::

Madre Cacti is a cactus-only plant shop that recently opened at 22nd & 2nd in the Bottineau neighborhood of Minneapolis and it is already an Instagrammers dream. Madre opened with more than 300 cacti of more than 80 different species from private growers in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Carrying a unique assortment of cactus plants, the shop is owned by Erik Hamline, a professional screen printer, who is the former owner of flat-stock screen-printing company, Steady Print Shop. He sources the plants himself, selling them individually as houseplants or to clients to decorate offices, photo shoots and homes. The plants are also available to rent for photo shoots and events, or even long-term commercial leases for restaurants and studios. The shop also sells Mexican terra-cotta pots, cowhide gloves, potting tools, bags, and tee shirts. Word to the wise; Madre is only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
part of the bounty from the estate sale last week was a sack full of imperial taps , from 3-48 up to 5/8-18 and everything in between, coarse and fine. plus npt taps in 1/8, 1/4, & 1/2", and a handful of tap wrenches, all cleaned up and sorted. many of these have seen little or no use - some still in factory wax, and only two broken ones in the bunch.. it's a lifetime supply so if any locals on here need something let me know before you buy it ::))
