WOW Wednesday delivers! Isn't this an extraordinary 3rd Phase blanket? Master Weaver Marissa Jones hands painted a beautiful piece of art as they worked on the loom. As part of our exclusive Churro Collection, it was woven with native Churro wool. The full horizontal stripes were created using beautifully variegated natural gray and brown wool. The color blocks were made from hand-dyed churro wool using aniline dyes.
The judges at the 2010 Gallup Inter- Tribal Ceremonial appreciated the talent with which this piece was created and awarded the Aniline Dyed Chief Blanket 2nd Place!

In the night we find the start... As I lay down and prepare myself for the rest of the day.. I wander the hills of home and I dream of a childhood.. the summer strains of life always wandering in from outside.. the night always brings dreams that are lost at the first wake.. morning horn.. the sounds stream the dream into a closet somewhere... Small glimpses throughout the day reminding me of something I experienced somewhere sometime... That's life... Half memories watching the day away... I think twice before I reach for the snooze.. can I dream again.. the answer is always no... I was never that lucky... At least I wasn't crying in my sleep... #dreams#igersstg#etchedmagazine#utahgram#utah#southernutah#northernute#navajo#nativephotographer

In solidarity with the people from #standingrock this is Claysun Benally, a member of the #Navajo Nation. He is seen #riding hard across land troubled by decades of uranium mining for which the Navajo have never been properly compensated. The militarization of tactics against Native Americans at Standing Rock in favor of the oil lobby is another shameful indictment against people who know more about living in harmony with the environment than most.
Dreamstarter Rose Quintana's (Navajo and Northern Ute) dream is to make people aware of the threatened Bears Ears National Monument in San Juan County, Utah. She recently spoke at the Utah Governor’s Native American Summit and held her first camp for Native Youth in Monument Valley in July. Learn about @savage_rose4 and our Dreamstarters on our site.
