RECIPE IN COMMENTS - SIMPLE OATS 🌱‼️💓
- - AYURVEDA!! 💓🌱 so recently I have been learning about the practice of Ayurveda, which basically means the science of life, there is a lot to it but pretty much, every single person is made of up of the elements, which are divided in to Doshas; Vata ( air and space), Pitta ( fire and and water) and Kapha ( water and earth) , in order to obtain optimum health we should live to keep ourselves in balance, for example I am dominant in Vata, which means I am constantly moving and going and thinking, I struggle to stay calm and grounded, in order to balance the Vata in me it’s beneficial to mediate, do restorative yoga and exercise only moderately, eating grounding and heavy foods to bring me back to earth 🍯
The Doshas are not only humans but nature, for example winter is a very Kapha dominated time of year where we feel lazy, unmotivated, trying to stay warm and grounded, which in fact we should be moving more and eating light foods to give us more space and air !! -
and the times of day,
This is mainly what I wanted to share,
So I always believed that Breakfast should be the biggest meal of the day, from a Ayurvedic perspective this is not correct as from 2am-10am we are in Kapha time, and should be eating a light meal, a hot lemon water to stimulate digestion and beginning to get moving to balance the grounded dominance, LUNCH from 10-2pm is the Vata time where we are able to digest quicker, and our metabolism is at its best working because we have been active and our body has had time to start! So now my whole thinking has changed and my feelings of sluggishness after huge breaky all makes sense! It’s like you begin to understand the little things that effect you and realise why they effect you!
It all makes sense right!? It’s such a beautiful teaching that allows you realise why you may have been feeling off or unwell some days for no reason, but there is a reason! And it all just kind of clicks once you learn it! I HIGHLY SUGGEST READING ABOUT AYURVEDA it honestly is already changing my life 🌈☀️
