I’m not sure where this girl went along the road but I’ll find her again one day. She’ll be better, braver, and stronger! Be kind to yourself always. Walk at the pace you’re most comfortable and whatever you do... take a step everyday!! God willing I’ll find Katie again!
Whatever you do, don’t forget to play.
Raspberry Island was my second favorite island of the Apostle Islands, next to Devils Island. It welcomed us warmly with 1,000’s of bushes of fresh raspberries to be picked and eaten upon our arrival. The lighthouse on the island is one of the most accessible on all the islands and was built to help guide large steamboats through the west channel of the Apostle Islands. If you visit don’t forget to play on the swing behind the light house before you leave! #apostleislandsnationallakeshore
Coined as the jewels of Lake Superior, the Apostle Island National Lakeshore is sure to dazzle your eyes. From picking and eating raspberries on Raspberry Island to kayaking sea caves on Devils Island, the 21 islands and 12 miles of mainland that comprise Apostle Islands host a unique blend of cultural and natural resources. The distinctive geology of the area is a result of glacial activity thousands of years ago leaving beautiful sandstone formations that will take your breath away.
This very spot is where the boat was docked to inflate the sea kayaks before kayaking inside the sea caves. I highly recommend visiting in the summer months for a kayaking boat tour or visiting in winter when the weather conditions are just right to tread across frozen Lake Superior to explore the mainland sea caves and the dazzling ice formations that adorn the red sandstone cliffs.
On land or lake, there’s so much to see and do at #PicturedRocks#NationalLakeshore in #Michigan . Along its 42 miles of #LakeSuperior shoreline are over 15 miles of towering sandstone cliffs, 12 miles of beautiful beaches and 5 miles of sand dunes. You can climb to the top of a lighthouse, hike through forests, kayak past waterfalls or just lay on a beach. It’s a perfect summer getaway!
