Y'all better enjoy this black hair colour because in less than a month's time you probably won't recognise me😂 There are a couple of reasons why I want to dye my hair but the main reason is because I really want to see how my hair fares with colour. I've played around with colour on my own previously but it never really took due to the fact that my hair's low porosity, hence why I'm getting it professionally done. The date is set, colour has been chosen, I'm ready to take a walk on the wild side😉
P.S: Check out my stories and see which colour I've chosen and weigh in on whether you think I should completely dye my hair AND add highlights or whether I should just add highlights only😃
P.S.S.: Tune in after the July 13th to see the reveal😆😀

I love my #naturalhair anniversary almost as much as I love my birthday!! (Jk 😂 because I don’t 🛍presents!) Here’s a #Throwback from 2015!! But really, anniversaries are so much fun because I get to reflect on the journey, evaluate my hair goals, celebrate my successes and learn from my setbacks! Anom is my hair and she’s 3 years old today!! My hair goal is to continue to grow her long & healthy and HAVE FUN doing it! I did the #bigchop on Juneteenth 2015 after several months of transitioning. FACT 📝 I don’t do #protectivestyles 😉 I’ve never worn a weave or wig, I wear my natural hair out everyday, I poke fun at self 🤪, I make DIY products (for personal use, not sale), I experiment with store bought different hair products, I’ve made a simple hair routine that works for me, AND most of all ... I HAVE 🤗 FUN! Because it’s just hair and one of the many many expressions of who I am! 😂
✨ 👸🏾 I Am My Ancestors Dream. We Are Our Ancestors Dream. Today is Juneteenth, the day of freedom, the start of it anyway. It’s amazingly bizarre that today we celebrate something that was our natural birthright. Let us continue to learn, know, and understand who we are, the blood we carry, the history that is apart of us. The longline of strength our ancestors carried. We are kings and queens and we should treat ourselves as such, honor ourselves as we honor the grace that came before us. #juneteenth
As my hair has grown out these past 3 years, the #1 ️⃣ question I always get, “Is that really ALL YOUR HAIR?? My answer, “YES ma’am, it’s all mine, I grew it!!! Yeah!!! 🎊 Today’s my 3 year natural anniversary👏🏽!!! And to celebrate, here’s a recap of 2015 (my beginning) and a few things about me and Anom to get to know us better🤪!! Anom is my hair’s name (it’s Mona spelled backwards 😂)! I did the #bigchop ✂️on Juneteenth 2015 after transitioning several months!! In 2015, I had no clue 🙄how to care for this mass of kinky curly hair growing from my scalp because I’d worn my hair relaxed for 30 years 😳!! So to learn how, I turned to #YouTube , to the internet, to blogs, to hair forums, to hair books 📚and to social media!! I found tons of women with kinky curly Afro-textured hair just like mine, who were successfully growing their hair long & healthy!! SO, I set a #HairGoal for myself. My goal was to: GROW MY NATURAL HAIR LONG, 💪🏽 STRONG & HEALTHY while wearing it out everyday WITHOUT using wigs, weaves, extensions, etc, Don’t get it twisted, 🤐 there’s nothing wrong with those things, they just were not what I wanted to do. 😉
Here’s WHAT I DID .., I focused on healthy haircare practices, using natural 🥑 ingredients, limiting 🔥heat, mitigating tangles, minimizing breakage, building a routine I could stick with and experimenting with DIY (do-it-yourself) products! To help me keep tract of my progress, I turned my Instagram page into my hair photo journal and I named it #TheAnomChronicles ♠️ which is really a lot of #loveletter post to help others like me!! If you’re an OG follower who’s been with me since the beginning, then you know I’ve shared everything I’ve tried, all my successes, all my set-backs, all my DIY recipes, all the hair products I’ve tried and all the styles I’ve tried😂!!! THANK YOU for hanging with me on the wild & fun ride!! STAY Tuned for another recap!!!
I’ve been MIA..Buuuuutt it’s because I’m cooking up something extra Dope!! So for now, get into this #textureshot 🤪🤪😲

Guess who was EXTRA lit earlier this morning because they finally caught the sunrise 🙋🏾♀️
Side note: All of this rain forced me to really leave my hair alone, SO with that being said.... it’s time to get creative with my #naturalstyles ..
Wish me luck 😂
🗣Consistency is EVERYTHING!!!
The picture on the left is back in April; heat damaged “curls” and all honey🤦🏾♀️
The picture on the right, is my hair a month later with trimmed ends and about 92% of my heat damage is GONE [i trim often 😘].
Not all natural hair is made the same, but one thing that does help is CON👏🏾SIS👏🏾TENCY 😆
How you “natural” is completely up to you, but stay consistent and you will see results 🙌🏾♥️😊

Back when the sun was out.. I had no products in my hair. Just coconut oil, a splash of highlighter, and a dope photographer that knows my good side.. I am lucky 🍀 😊✨
