About that cake.... Nah, I wasn't worried about indulging in a slice of the birthday girl's cake (I mean I'd fasted for 16 hours - biometric screening) because I knew this afternoon I'd be right back on track.
I'm not gonna lie and say this was better than the cake because, DUH CAKE (be still my sweets living heart), but this PB twist is pretty much a new fav for the nap time hustle.

I have an explanation for my social media silence for the past few months: My husband and I are expecting our first baby in March! 💕As part of the short torso club, I began to show very early and it was very apparent in my workout attire 😂 I’ll be back to sharing my fitness journey now that my double life is over! 🎉❤️
Got that Northern Cali marine layer thing happenin’ this morning but I’m not gonna let that stop me from gettin’ my work out in! So blessed and thankful to be able to stay on this beautiful property with @sierrakeith31 and Dave! Working out amongst the black oaks is heaven! @adidas on, let’s go!
Black Flame Leggings are as comfortable as they are 🔥!! I did 5 miles in them this morning but am seriously considering dressing them up with a longer top and heels next time I wear them! 😍 They are cute paired with the kettle moon tank and white Bomber Bra for my walk this morning! 🌙
Do you prefer cardio 🏃🏻♀️ or lifting🏋🏻♀️? I could lift all day, everyday. But cardio not so much!! I would skip it if I could, but it's just the thing I know I need! 🙌🏻

The best thing about being a trainer isn’t watching clients lose weight, it’s watching them gain confidence. They push themselves further than they think they can, I’m just along for the journey. It’s a beautiful thing to witness. I love my job 💪🏼❤️

I read something the other day that really irked me. The person was knocking Beachbody as some kind of scam because according to her.....you finish your 21 days or your 60 days and then you go back to your life and lose your results. Well duuhhhhh....😳. Of course if you just quit and go back to your old habits, your going to get your old results!! Her perspective is exactly why people are constantly yo-yo’ing!
It’s not a 21 day or 60 day journey.....it’s a lifetime! When I finish a program, I start another one....or do a round of the same one. But what I don’t do is QUIT! 👊🏼. I lost my 40+ pounds years ago now....and have not only maintained that weight loss, but have gained muscle, strength, and stamina. 👍🏼
Ya know, if you stop quitting you can stop starting over. #justsayin

Walking.. I often teach my clients small daily habit changes such as walking after dinner or first thing in the morning. When people think of staying in shape, they often think about high-impact cardio, weight lifting, or intense sports. However, you don’t need to exert yourself too much to get the benefits of regular exercise. Walking is oh sooo underestimated in this department.
Whether you’re taking the dog for a walk, or you’re going for a walk with your camera to capture some fall colors, walking can have many benefits without the risk of injury that some other forms of physical activity have. Here are some great reasons to walk your way to a healthier future: * Improves Circulation
* Can stop the loss of bone mass for those with osteoporosis
* Lightens Moods
* Leads to longer life
* Can lead to weight loss (with a healthy diet)
* Strengthens muscles
* Supports your joints (helps with arthritic pain & inflammation)
* Improves sleep patterns
* Improves your breath (I know, right)
* Slows down mental decline
* Reduces risks of Alzheimers' disease
* Helps you to do more, for longer periods of time
(Not to mention it is also a great stress relief and meditation time too!) Walking is one of the most underrated forms of exercise I do believe, but look at all the benefits! Our bodies are designed for movement and activity, so ditch out your excuse book and get your body and booty moving!
Ty and I went to our 3rd couples therapy session today and LOVED it.
We decided instead of doing pre-marital counseling right before the wedding that we would go once a month for a year+ leading up to the wedding (and totally open to continuing to go after) and it’s one of the best decisions we’ve made.
We go to the same therapist that I do weekly for my anxiety and we LOVE her.
Both of us would have said there was nothing wrong with our relationship. Things don’t need to be bad to go to therapy. But holy crap has this opened up our eyes & prepared us so much more for the FUTURE. 👀
A few of the things we’ve talked about so far are our personality types (SO dang interesting), how we each handle stress, unspoken expectations in our relationship, & our soft spots or trigger points.
Heck we’ve been dating for 8 years and I feel like each month we get to know each other more and more.
I can honestly say I’ll be more in love with him with every passing year with the techniques we’re learning for a lasting & exceptional relationship. 🏔😍 It’s crazy how much both of us have changed over the past 2 years. A few years ago we would have never ever considered therapy, NEVER told people we were going, & didn’t even know all the benefits of it.
Working on bettering yourself & your relationship everyday is so important 🙏🏽 I can’t recommend it enough! Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or just have someone to talk to 😊

If you haven’t tried DIY cold brew at home, you need to ASAP! I’ll definitely be making pitchers of cold brew in advance🙌🏽 How I made mine:
-Start with a 3:1 ratio of coarsely ground coffee to water (so if you use 1/2 cup coffee grounds, use 1 1/2 water
-Stir together in a jar and cover with lid (mason jars are great for this)
-Let steep for 15-18 hours (I start with the jar sitting out at room temperature, then put it in the fridge before bed)
-First strain the coffee mixture through a fine strainer
-Strain again using a coffee filter -Mix the concentrate with equal amount of water (or dilute more if you want)
-Pour over ice, add cream or anything else. I add some sugar free vanilla syrup and ice and it’s GREAT😍
Today’s big ass post workout salad -
Leftover chicken thighs and sweet grape tomatoes on a bed of greens. Topped with basil balsamic vinaigrette.
It’s not complicated and you don’t need loads of supplements or bars/shakes to get to your fitness goal. What I offer my coaching clients is exactly what I eat. That’s it.
What if healthy food looked good and tasted 😋 delishious?
What if eating healthy was easy, and you looked forward to it?
What if eating healthy was normal, and easy to do?
These are the things that we can all struggle with. How do you over come this? What have you done to change your habits?
For me, it’s learning about my body and how to fuel it properly. Over 6 years ago, I stared a 21 day Reset and it changed the way I ate on a day to day basis.
It’s been almost 2 years since I have done this 21 Day health Reset, and today I’m on day #8 ........ the Release week!
I’ve stopped eating animal proteins, and eating more vegan meals, which still include protein.
Another thing we stopped: no sugar, no caffeine, and no alcohol #soberseptember
While I’m not doing this for weight loss, more for just resetting my body, and really focusing on exactly what And how I eat.
I sleep better
My mind is clear
And food tastes better.
It’s interesting how something like this can help you focus on all areas of your life.
My neck is still tender but getting better! Stretching has helped it so much so this morning I did some yoga! My 8-week Bootcamp starts today... It consists of 4 workouts per week with three rest days so my goal is to start tomorrow and catch up to my group! Don't wait for the perfect time to begin! I often fall into this trap. But what I have found is that there is no perfect time!! It is SO frustrating, living in a place of constant waiting. Time continues to move regardless of whether you decide to take action or not! So why not?
Where are you getting stuck?
Wait until you have more time?
Wait until you have all the information?
Wait until you feel like you can't fail?
Wait until you aren't so busy?
Wait until the time is right?
Wait until you feel like it?
Wait until you have no other choice?
If I could give you one piece of advice today.....
Go for what you want! It doesn't matter if you know how to begin, it doesn't matter if you have all the answers, it doesn't matter if you fail. Just begin!!

Heading into week 2 (for my Accoubtability Group and my workout program) and we're pushing for results! The ladies and I are setting weekly goals that will get us real results. Does this sound like something you could do, too?
Both of these photos were taking at NOFFS courses. The left was in 2016 at my very first Navy Fitness training. The right was this week at NOFFS SES.
Transformation is possible, but be prepared for set backs. I was given the analogy this week of a GPS. You’re trying to get from point A, me at 185lbs in 2016, to point B, getting down to a healthy 145. There will be detours, I fought anorexia for a year getting down to an UNHEALTHY 150. I dragged through my days, barely being able to run 1/4 a mile without almost passing out and a lifting session took everything out of me. It took time and I got back on my route, fueling my body and preparing for a half marathon. When I completed that I took a wrong turn again, here I am, at 165. 20lbs down from where I was, but not fueling my body how I should be. Things happen. You fall down, but you get back up. It’s never going to be perfect. But you can do it. 💪🏼❤️
This week I had the privilege to go San Diego for another 40 hours training with Exos in NOFFS SES. It was an amazing experience and I now have over 100 hours of training in NOFFS with the Exos team. This week I was critiqued on my training design and implementation. It opened my eyes to what I can improve on and how far I’ve become from my first NOFFS training in August of 2016. A big thank you to Coaches Jay, Bob and Giovanni for teaching us the Art of Coaching. ❤️💪🏼
Such a hot mess today. Messy gym hair don't care. And getting in some good workout time early this morning using a sweaty AMRAP training session before taking on regular clients for the day.
My post workout meal for today was a veggie omelet with left overs of setan & tofu, broccoli, tomato, onion, mushrooms, garlic, spinach, arugula, coconut oil, avocado and mozzarella cheese. And a little Kerry Gold grass fed butter on top. Mmmm, butter!
I really needed the energy today especially as my muscles were fatigued. The great thing about eating healthy with an active and fit lifestyle is that the more natural and healthy foods provide a more sustainable energy source. It not only lasts longer, but also feels great.
Now if only my little muscles would grow! Grow, baby grow.
Patience is a great thing to have, not only as a medical professional but with myself as well while I am on this fit and healthy life journey.
Sometimes we so easily forget to be kind to ourselves and to not be so hard on the one person we look at in the mirror everyday and is with is every step of the journey.. Ourselves. Be kind to yourself. It will all happen in time, just trust the universe and keep working. Work hard and keep your head up. Pat yourself om the back today.
