I am sorry. These three words are so simple but so powerful. When a friend shares about a struggle that is very real to them, they are hurting. What they are facing is not easy. They need someone to care about them and validate their hurt. Saying the words I am sorry shows that you care about them and the hurt. —- The next time someone shares a struggle they are facing, I challenge you to just listen and say I am sorry. Please don’t try to solve it for them or give suggestions on what to do unless they ask you.
Come on Tic, get in on the action 😂❤️😍
Post work/school/nursery times with my crazies 🥰
What a long week but we have lots of festive things planned this weekend so it’s aaaaaall good! Hope you’re all enjoying the build up to the big day?!
So it appears I’m two days behind with the @a.hygge.fleurs Christmas photo challenge. Here is day 10 for Christmas tree. For the past few years we have used the same decorations but last year I bought these glass baubles and they go so well on our tree 🌲 #ahyggehomechristmas
Did you see my Instagram stories the other night of our stay at @scarlethotel in Cornwall?
If you haven’t either scroll across for pictures or check out the highlight reel in my feed.
The Scarlet is an adults only ‘boutique’, luxury hotel nestled in the clifftops of Mawgan Porth in Cornwall.
We came for a mini ‘baby-moon’ and during my stay I was so lucky to get to experience the hotels 4 hour pregnancy spa journey. Just wait till you hear about this...
My journey started with my feet soaking in a hot foot bath while I had a consultation with Rachel, my therapist. She then helped me to design a journey that was suited to me and inspired by the principles of ‘Ayurveda’, an ancient holistic health system.
After my consultation I was given a full exfoliating body scrub to make my skin really soft and to get me ready for the rest of my treatments. 😍
I was then taken to a relaxation room where I could sit in the quiet for half an hour (this was bliss) either in a hanging pod or on a lounger overlooking the sea.
I sat here for a little bit, read a book and drank vanilla chai tea before being brought a fresh fruit salad to nibble on.
Rachel then collected me for the next part of my journey. We headed to a really magical tented treatment room where I spent two hours having a guided meditation, a facial and a body massage that involved heated coconuts being rolled all over my back.
After my treatments I had the choice of relaxing in one of the many quiet areas before being taken up to the restaurant for a healthy spa lunch.
How incredible does all of this sound?
To say I left feeling really pampered and relaxed would be an absolute understatement. 😇
If you ever have the opportunity to try the spa at The Scarlet in Cornwall, go, go, go!
They also offer spa journeys for non-pregnant people and couples, as well as a whole range of other treatments.
Did I also mention that they have an outdoor hot tub and sauna nestled into the cliff edge, overlooking the sea?
It’s honestly the most blissful, beautiful place in the world and I cannot wait to go back again soon! Hands up who else wants to go here right now?
My kitchen smells so good! 🍊 tip: use a toothpick to pokes holes before inserting cloves... your fingers will thank me later! 👐 *
*These little advent bottles have been such a big hit this year. My kids love opening them each morning to see what the activity of the day is and I love how it's made this holiday season less stressful and more intentional. 🌲
My Little Star 🌟 Today we watched Holly’s nativity at the church and it was so cute! She was the Star and the kings had to follow the star to Bethlehem, she walked around the church with everyone singing Follow The Star! She was brilliant, I cried and we can tick off nativity number one off the list. It’s Alices turn later this week!
Where did those blue skies go?? I feel like a broken record banging on about the weather but seriously, this rain is scuppering my Christmas shopping plans! Thank god for on-line shopping or I swear we’d have to postpone Christmas this year! 🤣
I don’t know about you but having been on the receiving end of my card details being hacked, I’m been so nervous about entering them on line. Thankfully we’ve been using F-secure TOTAL from @fsecureglobal , a complete package that not only keeps the kids safe online, but protects our security, our privacy, and all passwords and pin codes. It’s a good job really the amount of shopping I’ve done. 😳
I’ve been sharing our review over on the blog as well as the most amazing giveaway to win a family ticket to The Making of Harry Potter Studio Tour! The giveaway ends on the 23rd December so be sure to enter! (I’ll put a swipe up link in my stories!) #ad#giveaway#fsecure
I am soooo proud of these two today! Parker has his preschool jabs and flu spray this morning, and didn’t even flinch when she put the needle in (when even I couldn’t watch 😂🙈). We then went to watch Indiana’s nativity this afternoon which was TOO cute. She sang all of her songs and signed so well 😭🙌🏻 I’m just so sad Parker isn’t doing one this year!
1. An Instagram account you love and/or are inspired by? - @nikkireed although, she’s a “celebrity.” but her entire life is inspiring; from her new journey through motherhood, to her kind heart that you can see through her IG account.
2. If you could give to one charitable organization, which would you donate to? - that’s a hard question for me... I have such a huge heart. And I am a “helper” or a “fixer.” But it would definitely be a charity for children, because they are the future.
3. You just found a genie in a bottle, what are your three wishes? - for my children to grow up in a world free of hate, for my children to be happy above all things, and to live a long enough life to be here for my children’s children & to see this world become a better place.
4. If you could redo something in your life, what would it be? - I would be kinder to my younger self & not change to “fit in.”
5. What is your favorite sweet treat? - pie (any kind, I don’t discriminate 😂)
6. If someone where to make a movie about your life, what would the movie title be? - the lover of all things kind and good (that’s a heck of a title, huh?)
7. What do you daydream most about?
- being older, spending my days making pottery or painting in a house I’ve raised my babies in with my husband.
8. Would you rather spend the day indoors or outdoors? - definitely outdoors, I hate being cooped up.
9. Favorite flower?
10. What is your favorite holiday? - Easter
At the top of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier, a few Christmas Days ago. It was COLD and WINDY up there! Fab way to spend Christmas though. .................. Continuing the Christmas trip throwbacks, this is our the short skiing bit of our 2014 European train adventure, when we quite rashly decided to haul our 3 children and 10 quite large bags across 6 countries via 12 train trips in 14 days. It's definitely a trip that's gone down in family folklore for its disastrous moments (involving diarrhoea, coughing, nits and missing trains — sometimes all at the same time) but also for the sheer magical delight of moving across a snowy continent by train. .. Details on the blog :-)⠀
I am SO PROUD of this little man. Reading and writing haven’t come easily to him and it’s been a bit of a worry for me as his sister picked it up ridiculously quickly.
He was reluctant to try and it was painful trying to make him sit down to tackle a book, despite books being one of the only things that would keep him still as a toddler! His new teacher decided to take him back to basics and he has thrived under her gentle, no pressure approach.
He is now writing for fun, it’s not perfect and I sometimes need him to translate what he has written but I didn’t think I’d ever see him pick up a pencil or pen by choice.
The pride on his face when he writes something is a joy to behold and it just goes to show that they get there eventually. There is too much emphasis on everyone reaching the same stages at the same times in a lot of schools and it’s just not realistic in my opinion. He has been physically incredibly able from a very young age, climbing, bike riding & very good at sports, he is also a problem solver and natural team leader, it’s just that the academic stuff is harder for him. Maybe this is start of him beginning a great love affair with writing or maybe he’ll never be academically minded and be great at sports like his Dad, preferring swimming to reading. Either way, I’m just so proud of him for trying his best! 💗
We’ve had lots of birthday fun this week as this little poppet turns five!!! We had a ‘Frozen’ party at the weekend which made me giggle as her brother and sister watched quite a lot of that film when she was a squidgy newborn....so much so that I was convinced she sang something that sounded like ‘let it go’ when she was only 7 months old!
If any of you know my daughter, you know how much she loves her owls 🦉
For those who don’t know her, she’s been obsessed with owls since she was 15 months old. Now almost 3, I decided to see what she thought of one in her picture.
Let’s just say she was beyond happy.
More like tears and hugging my phone.
Her reaction was priceless and I’ve made it my mission to create more of these photos for her 🦉
R O C K // It was Toby’s nativity today - he was a wonderful, percussion-playing angel. I can’t share any pictures of that though (at least not until his dad has seen it on Wednesday night anyway), so here’s a picture of him rocking out in his Christmas jumper instead 🤟 #rockonchristmas#christmasjumper
Arthur has really been into his writing since starting school. So i decided to make him his own white board by laminating a plain white sheet of paper. Now he can write as much as he wants without wasting lots of paper!
It has kept him entertained for ages. We are also using an old @cheekywipes as our eraser too instead of wet wipes or tissues.
On Saturday I took the big two to #LeedsChristmas markets for a couple of hours. This mainly involved buying a new tree decoration, eating sweets and drinking hot chocolate before having a ride on the fastest carousel ever (this is of course unsubstantiated but it certainly felt that way). I've popped a post up on my blog about our adventure.
I've worked my socks off today - mainly printing, signing and scanning documents as well as some writing. There was a brief interlude for Amy's Nativity performance this morning. I've got Ben and Chloe's performance tomorrow which I'm really looking forward to - partly because they both have roles and partly because @daveofadventure has taken the morning off to come with me 😊
💫MOM MONDAY FEATURE 💫
To be a mom is the best blessing. With 3 kids under 3 I learned that you can't plan everything out, to let loose and to relax. I learned a new level of being patient. Not saying that I don't get overwhelmed at times, emotional, and definitely exhausted.
As hard as it can be from time to time. As crazy as I might feel when I've been doing the baby talk all day, having my hair tugged, eating over the stove, drinking cold coffee, not being able to finish the laundry, leaving a mess here and there. I wouldn't have it any other way. It's amazing to watch these tiny humans grow and develop and absorb everything I teach and show them. I look at my mom and grandma now being more thankful, amazed and lucky to have had amazing role models to look up to. To be a mom is magical, special and amazing. The days might feel slow but the years fly by. @blushing_kris
On my way home the other day, I came to a stop while driving. Usually it’s because of a train but that day it was because of a duck family. I’ll admit, it was a little frustrating to be stopped as I needed to get moving. But, then I realized what a gift it was to stop and just be still. I couldn’t help but watch in wonder as all the ducks went across the road. They didn’t seem worried about getting somewhere. At that moment, the Holy Spirit reminded me to enjoy the chance to stop and slow down. The chance to look around at God’s amazing creation.
As you go about your day today, there is a possibility you will have some roadblocks. Moments where you have to stop because of a train, a slow driver or ducks in the road. When that happens, I encourage you to be still and enjoy the moment. Look around and see all that God has created. Take time to give God the worries of your day. Thank Him for the chance to slow down.
The smile that says Christmas is coming! We have had such a festive weekend, visiting the elves workshop at @bodnantgardennt which was fab and doing a local Santa dash (them not me 😂) it’s been lovely.
Although I’m feeling a little worried that I’ve got so much to do and buy with not a lot of time to do it😬 Anyone else completely unorganised like me? Just 15 sleeps folks!
▪️DECK THE HALLS▪️pumpkin has fully involved herself this year in the Christmas decorations. This year we made a holly wreath for the playroom out of hand prints, they’ve turned out quite nicely too. Every time she sees the wreath she says they’re my hands 😊 #ahyggehomechristmas#darksidephotochallenge
