Days 9 and 10 of #100daysofpractice
I’m sorry I missed yesterday’s post! I had this sort of strange thing pop up on my leg a few days ago, and I went to the doctor this morning to find out that I’ve been fighting a surprise staph infection. Let me tell y’all straight up- staph is NOT a fun time. I’m glad we finally figured it out and got me some antibiotics, but man it’s been a STRESSFUL couple of days. Prayers would be greatly appreciated. ❤️
My voice lesson got moved to Wednesday this week because of a recital commitment that my teacher had, which requires her to be traveling on Friday. So here’s a clip of some of my warm ups from yesterday’s lesson. Disclaimer, your body gets really tired from fighting infections, and NOTHING sounds good when you’re that tired. 😅
Well, I’m off to bed before my choir performance tomorrow. If you need me for the next few days, you can find me waddling around campus with a thermometer and some antibiotics. Hopefully the swelling and pain and infection grossness will go away soon, so that I can resume normal functioning. Thank you for being understanding! 😊
P.S. Also, I still have yet to determine why the lighting in this picture is so bizarre...
Here's a preview of the first in a series of videos that will teach you how to build cool sounding blues patterns in any key!

🎻☠️ 🎼🎃💜 Ah, #2008 I knew thee well. For this #tbt#throwbackthursday I'm reminiscing about the old days of playing #baroqueviolin with the #newyorkcontinuocollective . I played with them for about two or three seasons
...or really whenever I could run away and just get into New York City. This is from back in the stone age when #earlymusic was frowned upon more or less, but at the time I was planning on doing graduate work in #musicology - specifically the Baroque French and Italian works as well as very early #baroquemusic and late #renaissancemusic . But life has its twists and turns, but I'm grateful the good old New York Continuo Collective website has MP3s for me to go back and listen to some of the old concerts.
@kevplaysbass on breaking bad habits and improving technique with Halo Sport 👇
"This morning I've mostly been refreshing some basic technique on my @modulusgraphite Q6 fretless (@bartolinipups & 3 band preamp). I've been using the @haloneuroscience Sport headset that I won in their sweepstakes competition. I'll be putting in daily practice with this headset to see how quickly I can win back and even improve on the finer details of left and right hand technique. There are videos of pianists using this to speed up learning new pieces but at the moment I'd like to try breaking this down to smaller motor function to undo old habits and help to program new ones."

Feeling stuck? Lack of motivation? Well, then today's post is for you. "Motivation comes from action" MKI
Yup, it means that you don't need to wait for it. It'll show up when you start 'doing'. And yes, I know it's annoying sometimes, cause it means you actually have to start going before you 'want to'. But it also gives you the freedom to start doing anything right now, and when you have started that action it will give you motivation for the next step. No matter if that next step is in the same direction or the opposite. So, are you in? If yes, then just go for it!🎉 Doesn't matter if it's the right thing or not, just go and you'll soon find out.
Not inspired to do anything right now? Well, guess what, inspiration tends to come after the first step as well. Yup, I get it if that's even more annoying. But I'm here cheering you, and I'm sure the world is desperately waiting for you to share all that you have to give as well. (Even if you feel like you have nothing to give at all. Don't worry, those thoughts will never get it, YOU will though)
And yeah, aren't these girls standing beside me here awesome? Guess what? They've all taken a billion steps towards what they truly want, even if motivation from time to time was completely gone. They truly inspire me to keep doing the same! 💖
