Thank you to 'Stevomike' for this great tip.
Learning an instrument is a very personal journey, and a personalized approach to teaching can be a great method to help get the best out of your students.

I have also read a interesting article about how musically trained children are better readers, but i will share more of that article next week.
Music For Life was a truly magical event. Our community came together to celebrate our Music School's 40th anniversary, to honour the personal and musical journey of our incredible emcee @egbomusic, and to recognize the achievements of our bright students.
We are thrilled to share that with the generous support of our corporate partners, donors, and guests, we raised a milestone $220,000 to continue to offer high-quality music education in Regent Park, and a safe space for students and their families.
We are truly humbled, grateful, and in awe of the power of community. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and stay tuned for more incredible photos from the night.

Franz Liszt, over a century before The Beatles and One Direction, was the first musician to incite widespread frenzy in his audience. The previously unheard of phenomenon became known as Lisztomania.

The last time I wore teacher clothes in the spring I remember being SO uncomfortable! Everything was too tight, and I felt so self-conscious of how I looked. But this morning when I put on my teacher clothes for the first time in months, I realized everything fits so comfortably now! I tell my clients all the time that non-scale victories are WAY more important than the number on the scale, so it’s really cool that I still have my own progress and can be an example to my girls! I love being right there with my clients, working hard and making progress together!
Day 6 of #25daysoftuba
ZO BBb travel tuba used at @baltimorebrassco
What Baltimore Brass Co. has to say about it:
A used ZO 4RV BBb travel tuba in silver plate. Great for those who need to practice on the road but dont have access to a full sized horn. Responds much more like a full sized horn than other travel tubas on the market!
My thoughts: I have always found travel tubas to be an interesting concept. I could never really justify the need for one (at least not one that I have to drop several thousand dollars on) but the visual appeal is definitely there with the ZO series travel tubas. I was pleasantly surprised withy the playability of this instrument. Compared to many travel tubas on the market, this seems to be the most practical as far as playing goes. It is a little larger than others, but that is the price you pay to have a functional instrument. I had the pleasure of playing the BBb, CC, and F version of the ZO travel tubas last year at the US Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Workshop and have to say that I’m please all around. My biggest complaint would definitely be the way in which you have to hold the tuba. It is so short that it does not comfortable rest in your lap (unless you have a very short torso) but it is too heavy to comfortably hold with the left hand. I feel that this could be easily solved with a shoulder strap or harness, but isn’t the point of the travel tuba intended to facilitate ease and convenience? Anyway, it is an interesting and surprising little horn. Definitely check it out of you have a chance!
Price: $2,495.00 used with case

My happy place
I love to be home, in my office, dreaming and scheming and planning our next events as a studio. I don’t spend enough mornings there focused on work, but I’m working getting that back into the routine.
What are some things you do to help you be a better teacher?
Today Gr. 2, 7, and 8 students had the privilege of performing at the MA State House! The Gr. 2 students serenaded us with their feather voices before the middle school Dudamel Orchestra performed original spoken word and musical pieces composed specifically for our school. Then Gr. 8 had the opportunity to discuss their work on identity and the American Dream with legislators. Thank you to Senator Nick Collins and Ceferina Murrell for the invitation and the opportunity! We appreciate those of you who were able to join us. Here is a taste of our incredible day for everyone else! #MAStateHouse#musiceducationmatters#elsistema#musiceducation#artseducation#americandream#conservatorylab#perseverance#cooperation#charterschools
