Proud to say that I’ve been on this Muay Thai Journey for just over a year (minus the stint I did in 2016 pre arm break) and loving the development! Great coaches, mentors, dedication, practice and consistency makes things happen! #muaythaiknee#strength
I AM BLESSED🌟
I’ve met some of the best people in my life through #MuayThai . You meet all sorts in the gym. Amongst my teammates are teachers, lawyers, successful businessmen, mothers, university professors, and even a neurologist. I’m just using these examples to show that not all Muay Thai people are thugs. Okay maybe some are/used to be thugs, but they’ve got to be the most inspiring thugs with the biggest hearts😆 And yes, they’ve all fought in the ring, even the neurologist😉
There is magic in the unique blend of rich Thai culture and the practical effectiveness of the techniques that draw people together. There is also some amount of sadism, especially if you’ve heard stories of how the old school Thai camps used to train their fighters. The depth of the human spirit on display through the sport inspires hope and action.
For me, the magic is in the self-awareness and self-reliance that the sport is teaching me. It is also in the ability to laugh in the face of pain and hardships. Have you ever seen Thai fighters sparring angrily? It doesn’t happen. More often than not, it is an animated and elaborated play of dominance (while still looking graceful and throwing dangerously accurate strikes🔪).
People don’t grow in stability. Growth only happens through hardships. Muay Thai taught me that life is like a game, it doesn’t last. Successes are temporary, and so are hardships and failures. So don’t take things too personally, and stop taking yourself so f**king seriously. #NoteToSelf ✏️
