Weekend 1: We drove to the Oregon coast. The beach was a half mile walk through a dense forest and then it opened to a gorgeous cove. The Pacific is ridiculously cold but that didn't stop @jaa915 from paddling out. There were hiking trails, wooden rope bridges and caves. We had a blast and are planning to hit up a different spot soon.
Day 7: Idaho➡Oregon 📍
We finally arrived in Oregon! We stayed one night in a border town before eventually settling in Portland. I started working and realized the 🏨hospital area on the hill has the best views of the city🌇, Mt St Helen 🌋and Mt Hood⛰. Here are some thoughts so far: Portlandia is both an accurate representation and a disgrace, downtown is super 🌲🍁🍂colorful even in the rain and our 2nd floor apartment has a grassy patio. Heroin 💉and homelessness 🏕 are prevalent but the majority of locals are friendly. Food 🍎 is available from any culture or cuisine you're in the mood for at any given moment and the 🌦rain is no joke, nor are the 💰 prices. There's a 📰 protest every weekend and it's 🚫 illegal to pump your own ⛽ gas. Raincoats ☔ with Gore-tex are daily necessities and there are no 🐊gators in the entire state 🤔. Everyone actually uses🚌🚋🚝 public transportation, the craft beer scene is 💯 and weed is legal 👏. It's definitely going to take @jaa915 and me a while to really make it feel like home 🏡, but we are making the most out of every day.
Day 6: Salt Lake City, UT➡Boise, ID✔
We watched the sunrise over the Great Salt Lake and were the only people there. It was so friggin awesome having the gorgeous scenery to ourselves. The locals didn't seem too impressed by it since they all took field trips there in elementary school, but that's their loss. Next stop was Boise and I can't wait to go back. It was such a cool city full of life, love and potatoes. The purple fries were the best.
Day 5: Colorado➡Wyoming➡Utah ✔
Our first glimpse of snow on the mountains was as we left 🗻 Boulder. As soon as we crossed the border into Wyoming, we saw it accumulating on the ground and I immediately got hit with a snowball ❄. Salt Lake City was a really cool place. We ate, sampled local beers and safely 🚩 walked around downtown.
Day 4: Hiking Royal Arch Trail in Boulder ✔
This trail showed me just how out of shape I really am. It was such a rush battling the 1637 ft elevation gain (in addition to the mile high elevation of Boulder itself.) It was well worth it once we reached the top and got to play with the friendly wild chipmunks! Not to mention the view was incredible too!
When you get back from your honeymoon to find the most beautiful photos from the best day of your life. Thank you @brandonkiddphoto + @kristin_kidd for capturing our #amazingeverafter . We are forever grateful for you both.
Still recovering after an incredible wedding for #mrandmrsamazing ! One of my favorite moments from the night was @christiaansimon's reaction to @brandimilloy's surprise dress change mid-reception. He had no idea it was happening and was speechless when she walked out. She was absolutely stunning! I love when brides have a reception dress "just to dance"... that's my type of girl! Happy wedding & #amazingeverafter to Brandi & Chris!
