I am proud to announce that I have finally completed my Sports Physical Therapy Residency at USC! It was a tough year filled with plenty of long nights studying, early morning practices & late night games, 18 hour days, endless cups of coffee, but more importantly, tons of learning and growth. I am so thankful for everyone who invested their time, passion, energy, and knowledge to help me to become a better sports PT/ATC. I always try to avoid auto pilot mode when I practice. This way I am more aware of what I just did. This makes it easier to understand what I should have done. This weekend I will be teaching 3 days straight so this was my way of relaxing and getting ready.
My question was should I rotate externally or internally to achieve the most range of motion while doing bridge. My earlier post was about "spiral momentum" and even with this one it felt most natural for me. Self-posterior glide of the glenohumeral joint specifically for overhead activities, performed between lifts (real-time footage, zoomed in). Joint stretches feel pretty different than muscle stretches, so see what you feel! Indication includes signs of internal impingement/a pinching feeling in the back more than the top of the shoulder. Arm to an overhead position, find the ping pong ball sized prominence in your armpit, and then RELAX your armpit HARD onto the bottom hand. The movement system contains a lot of things, a lot more than just the motor output; the movement result we can see. It is our cognitive processes, our perception of the environment (and ourselves), our sense of purpose, self-efficacy etc. and not least our emotions. When we train with our horses we often think about it as training different movement exercises, we are concentrating on getting the correct motor output. Just as an experiment, what would happen if you thought of your training with your horse as affecting your horse’s emotions? Every movement pattern is connected to certain emotions. Can you come up with some examples? What emotions do you experience when you do certain movements? As we’re both social animals, our emotions often reflect one another. There is a reason we say the horse is our mirror. And we are the horse’s mirror! When you’re doing difficult, effortful stuff, do you feel stressed, tense and not enough? Or do you feel powerful, badass and playful? Also questions to ask your horse. NOS LEVANTAMENTOS DE POTÊNCIA, PUXE A BARRA PARA DENTRO!!
Embora já tenha feito esse post, considero ele tão importante que sempre será atual.
Tenho visto sistematicamente nas academias um erro bastante comum, o qual eu também cometia quando comecei a praticar #lpo . Qual é? Eliminar a transição da primeira para segunda puxada e transformá-las e uma única puxada.
Durante a transição da primeira para segunda puxada, a barra deve PASSAR PELA COXA e, principalmente, PELO QUADRIL. Ou seja, ela DEVE SER PUXADA PARA DENTRO, a postura ligeiramente modificada (tronco verticalizado - posição da cadeira) para então gerar a maior potência e acelerar a barra para cima em uma combinação sincronizado e extensão total de quadril e remada alta (high pull) - vídeo lado direito.
O grande problema está em não fazer essa transição e já iniciar o movimento, desde a posição inicial, com a maior velocidade, não puxar a barra para dentro (passando pela coxa e quadril) e batendo com o quadril na barra e projetando ela à frente - algo parecido com o vídeo da esquerda.
*CUIDADO! Quem acelera a barra é o quadril, DEPOIS os braços entram com a high pull, de forma sutil. Esse time (sincronismo) é fundamental para o sucesso do levamento. Esse tipo de exercício é muito complexo, demanda MUITO TEMPO E REPETIÇÃO para aprender e, pode ser lesivo sim, se vc não praticar da maneira adequada. Se você está evoluindo muito rápido, desconfie da técnica. Peça auxílio de um profissional qualificado.

Hey my friends!!! I am happy to share with you the movement system that I have discovered two years ago in Berlin. At that moment I was participating regularly in dance classes. One of my favorite classes were Chaim Gebber contemporary dance in Tanzfabrik.
This is why I decided to make a video about Conscious Body System - a movement system created by @chaimgebber.openscene . If you are passionate about dance, you definitely have to try it out.

I will say one thing; I’m different. My goal is to not be another insta-person who shares a post of hip hinge with a PVC pipe, or generalizes that forefoot running is better, or states that peeing when you workout is not okay. Nothing against those who post the basics, it’s just that my vision for myself is far more than that. This next year I plan to keep blazing trails in Movement Analysis and rehab, and I will be collaborating with some really smart people, both on the coaching side and on the movement side, to bring you things you aren’t seeing other places. If someone has shoulder issues, pain, restriction, stiffness, loss of strenght (like me now and then 😊) due to whatever reason we have to be careful what kind of exercise we give to her/him. You can see quick changes in my shoulder mobility into medial rotation depending what I do. Can I affect some kind of structural imbalances just by doing a movement twice? There is no chance for that 😊. Is it nervous system what can react very fast and alter my movement? Yep 👍🏻. If our brain get various danger messages what does our brain do? It can restrict mobility, decrease strength and speed of movement, co-contract muscles, alter muscle timing etc. Would it be good for me to do right over-head press? May be not or at least I have to modify exercise by pushing left arm down for example. We can not forget lumbopelvic area, hip etc either. Which side? We have to test that. If we do not have test how can we treat or rehab? And our assessment system evolves by time. Our body and mind are so fantastic and plastic.
