RELIEVE SCIATIC NERVE PAIN.
#Repost @dr.jacob.harden .
⚡These are some movement options to help relieve sciatic nerve pain. This little sequence is one that I've found helpful for many of my office workers because it can be done right from the office chair at work and integrates easily into their daily life.
Many people who deal with sciatic pain tend to be intolerant to flexion. And sitting for prolonged periods in flexion can often lead to some irritation for them. So in order to help them get the pain to calm down, we have to make some temporary modifications at work.
☝🏼 My number one recommendation is to figure out how long you can sit comfortably and then set a timer on your phone to get up and move before that threshold hits. If you have the option of a standup desk or a sit to stand desk (mine here is from @ergonofis) then you can easily just change positions as needed.
At times though, we get deep into work or maybe it's just a "bad day" and we didn't sleep well the night before or you're stressed and the pain is coming on a bit more than usual. While I still want you to take that break to stand and move, having a little routine like this can really help to calm things down. I have patients run through 20 to 30 seconds of each movement (hamstring, priirformis, and the appropriate nerve glide) per side to help everything chill out.
Tag a friend with sciatic pain and share the wealth!

◼️SERVING FROM THE HEART ——————————————————————————
Because that’s where all the best shit comes from 🤙
We are so conditioned to seek certainty in every moment of our experience we limit our own growth and evolution in the process. To change, to evolve, to thrive we must acknowledge and embrace uncertainty and the discomfort it initially brings with it. —————————————————————
At this point I’m learning to embrace uncertainty knowing that to venture into the unknown is to open the door to limitless possibility’s, my only responsibility is to show up 100 and be present enough to respond to the opportunities I’m offered and the obstacles I must tackle. —————————————————————
Is uncertainty something you have learned to embrace or is it something you hide from at all costs? —————————————————————
I’m spending some valuable time today reflecting on what’s next for me, how I can serve most authentically, and how I can really show up unapologetically aligned to my hearts desires and the genius I—as we all—have been gifted to bring to this earth. This mission in itself is a huge dive in to uncertainty, a dive into the unknown and at this point in my life I’m finally learning to see this as a positive and as a necessary requirement to continue honouring my most authentic thriving life 🙏🤙🙏
P E R S P E C T I V E ✨
I am slowly learning the importance of gaining multiple perspectives on any one situation.. and sometimes that means physically hanging upside down to make that mental shift. The beautiful thing about movement, in particular The Garuda Method, is it’s ability to help create an internal stillness which allows space for you to grow.
Finding what feels good. ⠀
By simply exploring movement. ⠀
Forgetting the rules. ⠀
Playing by your own. ⠀
Slow movement. ⠀
Fast movement. ⠀
Plus everything in between. ⠀
Be in your body. ⠀
Trust it. ⠀
Move it. ⠀
Love it. ⠀
Know it. ⠀
Imagine if every woman could experience this ✨⠀
I was able to step it up on this mornings glorious run with 1min intervals.... ⠀
1min 💨, 1 min 🏃♀️ x 8 reps⠀
My body feels absolutely ready for more & more interval training now that I’ve done the ‘work’. ⠀
✨Core & pelvic floor rehab ⠀
✨Learning to be patient & respectful of my body in any given moment ⠀
✨ Mastering the techniques of the #RunMama program (available via link in bio)⠀
The hardest bit for me was learning to work with my body, not against it. My head was seriously wanting to train ‘hard & fast’ , but my body was so NOT ready for it. ⠀
Learning to slow myself down physically was a huge challenge. Forced to find ways to feel good in my mind & body (that didn’t involve hard & fast exercise) meant exploring new way of moving & connecting with my body. It also meant exploring meditation, movement mindset, body image & overall self perception. ⠀
Finding alternative ways to connect with the body & with self is ‘the missing piece of the puzzle’ for so many women. Whether they are wanting to improve performance, recover well postnatally, enjoy a positive birth experience or improve self image & body image. Feeling inwardly, & going on ‘that journey’ is for me the most important piece. ⠀
✨Connect with your body & with yourself. ⠀
✨Be willing to start where you are at. ✨Ask yourself the ‘hard questions’. ✨Find self compassion, & self kindness. ⠀
✨ Take the TIME.....⠀
Be warned though, once you begin this journey there will be no looking back!
👈Pushups at the end of a long breath hold at my teacher @iceman_hof Santa Monica event this Saturday with my brother @innerfireseattle leading the group which was wonderful to see
👈It’s a fun exercise everyone should try. Do about 30-50 superventilation breaths(deep inhale, reflexive exhale), then blow out all the air
👈Hold your breath(if you have a nose plug you can keep yourself honest), and do as many push-ups as you can without really having to force the breath hold
👈Let me know how many you did in the comments💪💪💪💪
This has to be the most thrilling job I’ve ever had. Everything I absolutely love to do (directing, choreographing, dancing & movement coaching) for the one and only @leagueoflegends 🔥 Due to animation, there were certain limitations on movements for choreography. For example, head whips would make the girls bald for a second lol. The limitations actually helped me to focus more about the characters and who were playing the characters which made this creative process extremely fun. I studied every characteristics of the skins from their personality even to their fingers. I thought about movements that would enhanced the animation from the MV to stage. As for movement coaching, I wanted to make sure to keep every single aspect of each artist true to themselves since they were specifically chosen for each skin. I don’t like to change people too much. I think they’re absolutely incredible as is. I’m just there to create more ideas, emotions and vocabulary to their natural habits. Thank you @riotgames for having me be a part of this insanely one of a kind performance. I am forever grateful. Thank you to my team @thelyddz @michellegrif5th 🌷🌷🌷 Thank you to everyone who has shown so much love and support. I am in love with ALL of the covers being sent. I see ALL of them and I appreciate YOUR hard work. Much love and appreciation.
👆Here’s an inside look at how we combine elasticity, coordination and perception into one drill at the end of the session. This is a new strategy we’ve be experimenting with to recalibrate the athlete’s system after our general strength work.
Thanks @aidan_wilkie & @declanwilkie for the demos!
This year I’m learning that making the decision that you’re going to be better, that you’re going to be different, is the biggest part of the battle. .
I’m learning that I don’t have to have EVERYTHING figured out, I just need to figure out what I want. Where do I want to go? Why do I want it? Then, just take a single step in that direction.
I’m a planner, an analyzer, a worrier. Taking one step at a time is not easy, but seeing how a single step can change everything has made it worth it. Where do you want to go?
◼️WHO INSPIRES YOU?
As someone fascinated by the mind and body and all their many potentials for expansion and evolution, I’m consistently surrounding my senses with people who inspire me to explore further, go deeper and challenge my norm. —————————————————————————-
Knowing the undeniable connection between the mind and body, I feel it’s incredibly important to use movement to adapt, evolve and change our state of mind along side a conversational coaching practice. Whether this is to aim higher, slow down, build energy, confidence and courage, its all relevant. And after a decade of coaching people in various ways involving the mind and body the conclusion seems that separated practices are great to create change, however intentionally combining the practices of coaching both areas is something I now believe is most optimal for absolute long term transformation. ——————————————————————————
This being said I invite you to reward your senses with inspiring movers, speakers and coaches of all types into your awareness reminding your body and psyche of what’s possible 💪 ➖This particular movement was inspired by the man @patrickbeach who for sure brings a whole new level of smooth to this move and beyond 🙏
This went wrong, can you tell where?
Sometimes, you have to train your ability to do things wrong. Not just to physically fail better through different movement options.
But also to mentally fail well. You’re response in defeat is as important as your response to a victory.
I used to be that kid who “liked falling” all the time. When I went to class I used to deliberately mess things up to practice that contingency plan.
Even to this day, I will sometimes use that process and enjoy it. How’s your relationship to failure?

👈I became one of the first @iceman_hof US-based instructors back in 2016 in LA and the Rocky Mountains
👈In truth, I had been interested in the cold many years prior while battling my own chronic illness because I had read about cold thermogenesis, brown fat, and the work of @raycronise and I had seen Wim in a National Geographic show I think
👈I went to Poland to train with @iceman_hof and Jerome Wehrens in 2015 while still very ill and that experience was a turning point in my life and I began to pursue knowledge and experience more relentlessly than before and to go back into coaching and put everything I had into guiding others
👈I teach a lot of things now: movement, strength and conditioning, breathwork of all types, restorative exercise, circadian rhythm entrainment, nutrition, journaling practices, and I help people integrate their psychedelic experiences and will be working with @parign_hak in Peru in 2019.
👈I have no attachment to methods or certifications though I respect those like @iceman_hof for doing the work, as I try to do, of creating based on their hard-earned knowledge
👈I’m immensely grateful for @iceman_hof and my other teachers for being a part of the path
The last 4 months of my life have been crazy, beautiful, full of growth, new and old connections, decisions, transformations and plenty of pinch myself moments. ⠀
I have been so in it I haven't had a moment to reflect let alone share my experience with all of you on the gram. ⠀
Studying dance in NYC > embarking on a life changing Tantra training in the UK > teaching my Still Movement Workshop in London > and spending time exploring the alleyways of Paris and the countryside of France. ⠀
A week ago I landed in back in Cambodia to continue on my journey teaching at the beautiful @vagabondtemple. I am SO blessed to be here sharing my passion. As I write this, looking out upon the beauty that surrounds, my heart feels HUGE and touched by all the people I have met on the way. I AM SMILING.

- Mijn vriendinnen vaker zie;
- Het is super leerzaam;

This is the reason wrist pre-hab is so damn important. It hurt, but my wrist recovered pretty quick. No damage done.
On a lighter note I’m starting to understand the tension required to hold this static, lots of fun!
What makes you feel STRONG? 🌙 .
As individualised and unique as each of us are, I’d love to hear from you, what makes you feel strong(physically)? .
For me it’s being able use my bodyweight in a variety of different feats through controlled full range of movement. It’s being able to properly execute all the fundamental movements of humans(Squats, Push, pulls) and then take all that and level it up to constantly challenge and grow in this art of mindful movement. ☁️ .
Also side note* how fly is my ratty? 😂
