Robin doesn’t have a lot of independent motivation to explore or wander. Most of the time, he wants to follow me around and stick close by. So the rare times when he gets interested in something on his own are kind of special. Something was living in this log that he wanted to see up close.
This is sort of a weird thing to say, but while a lot of people’s training goals seem to be about adding control and containing a large and buoyant personality, our pattern over time has been encouraging Robin to do more- go climb that rock, go chase that squirrel. Some of it takes, and becomes more of a habit for him, and some of it he just does while I snap a photo and then hops back down and stands at my heel.
Know what I mean? Does that resonate with anyone else?
