Can’t agree more with this post. Learn your mechanics before anything else. Put time in the learning process .. is where the magic happens when you really want to go big. You can apply the same to almost all movements.

We all want to squat big weight - but you MUST 1st have the ability to perform a good quality bodyweight squat. If you don’t have the fundamentals down & place a load on a poor movement pattern 3 things will happen.📝
1️⃣You increase risk of injury. No one shows better technique the more weight they lift. Your body can only move big weight with less than ideal technique for so long before injury catches up.
2️⃣ You reinforce poor movement patterns. This means it becomes harder and harder to improve your technique if you’ve taught your body to move a certain way for so long.
3️⃣ Your potential performance decreases. You’re ability to lift massive weights is built on top of how efficient your move. If you move poorly, you won’t be able to lift to your potential. Simple enough.
The goal with this post is to help you re-prioritize how you view the squat. It is a movement first and an exercise second. If you want to lift big weights & do so safely for the rest of your life - make sure you address and fix the issues that hold you back from performing a quality bodyweight squat first. Doing so will set a solid foundation for you to then build strength & power from so you can perform to your greatest potential (aka finding your true strength).🏋🏼♀️
