This little guy is my absolute greatest treasure. He makes me a better person and teaches me something new everyday.
Yes, being a mom teaches you so many things. Patients, time management, organization, communication and plenty of mother life skills.
But one thing is for sure is that a child teaches you what unconditional love truly is. The pure innocence babies have makes that love so much more meaningful. Hey don’t have a favorite color, know who the president is or what a bike is hit all they know if that they love you. I mean, how incredible is that? A baby knows one of the most complicated topics that philosophers have been studying forever.... mind blown 🤯
Portraits from Ethiopia - Young Ethiopian mother selling trinkets on the street
With 3000 distinct ethnic groups, 2000 languages, Africa is home to the most genetically diverse people on Earth. So diverse that two Africans are more genetically different from each other than a Chinese and a European are from each other. Travel thru Africa and especially Ethiopia and one has to challenge one's preconceived notions about what people look like.
In Africa, Ethiopia is a unique country within an incredible continent. Here are a few facts I picked up :
- The Afar region in Ethiopia is where Ardi an early human-like female anthropoid 4.4 million years old was excavated- the oldest discovered so far - this is where it all began...
- Its likely the only culture using a different calendar and time system - so 13 months in the year - 12 months of 30 days and the remaining 5/6 days in a 13th month. - The clock starts when the sun rises; so sunrise is 10'clock and sunset is 12. Hard to argue against. I was in a bank board room and was wondering why the clock was showing the wrong time until I learned about this !
- Ethiopia is the only African country never to have been brought under colonial control. The Italians did give colonization a crack in 1935 – and succeeded in militarily occupying the country for six years – but Ethiopian forces were waging military opposition the entire time and the whole country was never brought under control.
- The Rastafari movement is most often associated with Jamaica, but it was Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie who inspired the religion.
Things I didn’t know until I was a mother...
1. The wet wipe is the greatest invention in the history of the universe.
2. A Peppa Pig Band-aid works better than a normal Band-aid.
3. A ‘sleep-in’ is a historical term, not used in the present day and has been replaced with ‘coffee’.
4. Little people take up a lot of room in your heart. And your house.
5. Children are amazing, adorable, enlightening and fulfilling. Especially when they’re asleep.

Effect Of Music On An Expecting Woman
When you are pregnant, listening to music will not only have a soothing and uplifting effect on you but also a positive influence on your unborn baby. The positive vibes that you get from listening to music will create a prenatal stimulation that will help you to bond with your unborn baby. It will enable you to lower your stress and anxiety levels and also reduce any stress that your unborn baby may feel in the womb. Many researchers believe that your unborn baby will be able to remember the music and the sounds that you listened to while you were pregnant. If you listen to certain soothing songs while you are pregnant, it is highly likely that your baby will remember them even after birth. It means that you can use the same music to sooth your little one after it is born. Your baby will be able to recognize the sounds and it will help to relax and calm your baby instantly.
Somebody rightly said, “To live is to be musical, starting with the blood dancing in your veins. Everything living has a rhythm." But I think they did not know music can travel through a mother's body to its unborn baby and help distinctly in forming the physical and behavioural aspects of the child.

Thankful I got to participate in the Chinese painting exhibit of our Lao Shi Ceasar Cheng, which also coincides with the launch of his first coffee table art book ‘Brushstrokes’. He is truly one of the best art teachers I have encountered, whose artistic prowess is only second to his sincerity, patience, kindness and generosity. Very lucky to be one of his students. This piece reflects my nod to traditional brush techniques with wisteria flowers trailing onto sumi paper, combined with my love for fashion illustration. Also thankful to my Mom who has always encouraged my artistic inclinations, hence the rendition of Mother and child. Wishing everyone a happy Sunday!
For our last full day in the Lake District we drove to Grasmere. We parked in the centrally located car parks &took out our trusty @stokkebaby carrier. #fatherbee carried Babab - enjoying some wonderful gurgling &eye contact. Our walk took us around some hiking, interior decor &local artisan chocolate shops. It is still calm &quiet - we feel no rush to leave, so we take our time admiring all the wonderful items.
Nanna &Grandad find more 6-12month waterproofs for Babab in the @Hawksheaduk store - this time with a fleece lining! Knowing how rare these items are &how invaluable her waterproof has been, we easily justify having another.
Reaching the outskirts of the village, we turn back &head towards the garden centre which has a cafe. More on that later...
Grasmere Church (St Oswalds) was particularly beautiful, keeping to tradition it still had pews &hymn books. The stain glass windows were in perfect condition. Security however was tight as roped areas were alarmed to deter visitors from making themselves too comfortable.
After food we headed to the other side of the village, taking us to the Grasmere Gingerbread Shop. It's a small establishment run by third generation owners who still follow the original recipe by Victorian cook Sarah Nelson. There is a little queue but service is rapid.
We then took a stroll through the Wordsworth Daffodil Garden, established in 1998 to support upkeep of the church, it is a beautful green area where William himself was buried. Individuals sponsored wild daffodils or engraved stones to pay tribute to the poet.
Our final stop is at the Heaton Cooper studio where prints &original watercolour landscapes of the surrounding area are available for sale. The cafe attached also looks inviting. #fatherbee &I agree on two prints for the house - sights that we may not have already visited, but plan to find in the near future.
Background: My mother suffered from #prenataldepression that was indeed untreated, that went onto #postpartum and in later years she was diagnosed #schizophrenic . My mother has passed away this year, and I'm currently writing a book. This is the area that I am at right now. I have studied the science behind this for alot of years and know what my mother was willing to share, but I would like to hear other women's or children of mothers who have went through it. You won't end up in a book, this is only a portion of a larger story, I'm just looking for further insight. You can PM me or email me at David6151carr@outlook.com. I dont need specifics, just your feelings and experience in general would be fine. As I mentioned, its part of a larger story, but this plays a part. It also has to do with the effects on unborn child and after birth, so feel free to share if you have anything to add. Thanks. #prenatal#postpartum#childbirth#mentalillness#mothersdepression#mothers#moms#motherandchild#schizophrenia#science#mentalhealth#writing
