Hey guys.. A friend of mine was recently in a pretty bad car accident leaving her with brain injuries and in pretty rough shape. Robert and the team at La Luz Tattoo ( @laluztattoo ) have decided to help Carly and her family by hosting a Tattoo fundraiser for her THIS coming Sunday. 11am-8pm, $100 & up tattoos that will 100% benefit Carly and her family. If you do not want to get tattooed, but still would like to help, they will be accepting donations on behalf of the family and will also have Gift Certificates available to purchase. There has also been a GoFundMe created... www.gofundme.com/carly-recovery - anything you can do will help! Thank you!! 💕❤️ (also, feel free to share this as much as you want!)
Another example of how #california is going to be driving out #businesses The idea is nice in principal but the owners of these buildings will simply pass the cost onto #tenants
This is why #smallbusiness struggle here. Lame attempt by #legislators to raise funds that will disappear into the California ether.
No wonder companies who can afford to leave to find greener pastures, literally. Those who can't move, close doors because they can't afford rent. #moorpark is a prime example of #awful#commercial owners. Half the buildings are vacant and yet they charge crazy $/sf. Do yourself a favor as a #businessowner and move somewhere else that wants businesses to thrive.
I had a wonderful surprise this morning. @akacookie.official stopped by and had some coffee with me. This guy is amazing at what he does, and if you don't know him, check out his work at www.akacookie.com!
Update: Simi Valley and Moorpark residents, please be advised that Metrolink crews will be replacing rail in curves located between Katherine Road to Los Angeles Ave. & Collins Dr now starting Aug. 20. For more information: visit the Breaking News section of the VCTC website, link in bio.⠀
A few weeks ago, we joined Foster VC Kids at the "Etched in Sand" book signing and Q&A with the author, @regina_calcaterra, at the @camarillolibrary.
We received our very own copy of the book with a personal note from Regina herself. During her speech, she discussed CASA as a great way for community members to help local foster children in Ventura County. Thank you so much for sharing your story and for raising awareness about all the ways we can come together to help.
The book is now in our CASA library - please call our office if you are interested in reading it! A gut wrenching and gripping story, Etched in Sand chronicles Regina’s rising above her past, while fighting to keep her brother and three sisters together through it all. Regina and her four siblings persevered an abusive and painful childhood only to find themselves faced with the challenges of the foster-care system and intermittent homelessness on Long Island. Beautifully written, with heartbreaking honesty, Etched in Sand is an unforgettable reminder that regardless of social status, one can rise above their past if they have the desire and the determination to succeed.
Also, a special thank you to the CASAs who were there as well!
