I keep the rhythmic measure
That marks the steps of time,
And all my toil is fashioned
To symmetry and rhyme.

Back in the long ago, a small creek flowed through a prairie. The creek dropped over a little waterfall before flowing into the Mississippi River. In time, the prairie and creek became part of St Paul, Minnesota. By 1925, the prairie had been replaced by a Ford Motor assembly plant. The creek was rerouted into a storm sewer. Then it dried up, except during the spring melt or whenever it rained. Many called these events progress. The Ford plant closed in December, 2011. All the buildings were demolished. Many were saddened by these events. It’s possible that the creek will be restored. That’s a nice way of saying the creek won’t be a storm sewer, anymore. The prairie, however, is gone for good.
