Tomb Raider: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5
They did it! A video game movie that is both successful at being good as a film and a faithful adaptation! The film doesn't break new ground but what it has going for it is remaining a solid blockbuster all throughout without EVER forgetting it's roots.
Alicia Vikander is fantastic as Laura Croft and I couldn't imagine anyone else portraying her better! The film moves at a quick pace but never forgets to humanize Laura. And when this film moves, it moves. Setpieces feel organic and exactly like the intense split second action and choices players would have to make in the game. Kudos for the set design and direction to always have the action stay with Laura when ever possible.
The film doesn't break new ground and does have some story issues, mainly a few subplots that could have been explored more. But any tweaks made to the original game's story (the supernatural elements) are done right and make sense for a filn adaptation that has a sense if reality to it.

I can't wait to jump back in with this franchise!
I hope you guys have an amazing Christmas holiday this year and enjoy this little holiday drawing that I did from Tales from the Crypt "And All through the house". As always if you like this drawing of mine you're more than welcome to repost it but please don't forget to give me credit. Enjoy! 🎅
Decades later everyone's favorite intergalactic foundling finally gets a decent #poster .
@mondotees E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL by Jonathan Burton. On sale tomorrow, random time!
“I didn’t want to shy away from showing E.T. as a major element of the poster as he’s so iconic, but also because I welcomed the challenge of drawing a creature so fascinatingly odd. The character is a great design of unthreatening strangeness and this balance is tricky to capture. His pointing finger is an obvious tribute to the original poster though I like how we have it leading to his home, and with the special spot varnish we only get a glimpse of his solar system within the right light.” - @jonathan_burton_illustration
When you're a self-made man, you start very early in life. In my case it was at 18 years old when I started bringing income into the family. You get a drive that's a little different, maybe a little stronger, than somebody who inherited.
My father started with nothing and is a self-made man. No matter what I do with my life, I can never match his accomplishments.
Mark Twain created a new type of literature and not a lot of people can say that. Not a lot of people can say they're absolutely original and completely self-made.
