My desire for knowledge is intermittent; but my desire to commune with the spirit of the universe, to be intoxicated with the fumes, call it, of that divine nectar, to bear my head through atmospheres and over heights unknown to my feet, is perennial and constant. - HDT 🐝💜 #nectarcollector#lifeisjuicy#mondaymeditation
The Upanishads tell us, “I am that”. You are that. We are that. You and I are the same. Ok, well I may not be Linda Carter, but what if we spent less time measuring differences and more time in connection. What would the world be like if we valued our being as we value our individuality? What if we live embracing our sameness rather than dwelling on differences? What if we live seeing ourselves, our own stories and experiences, in the eyes of another? What if we forget about our stories and see each other for what we truly are: living divinity tangled in ego. I think it would be a pretty cool place to be... #mondaymusings
•9:39p is a fantastic bedtime
•There has not been a moment of silence in my apt all day and I’m super grateful for it
•Mondays are really good for both goal setting and reflection. Especially rainy Mondays.
•I make a mean gluten-free rigatoni bolognese
•Bar is getting very good at braiding hair
•Both @soulcycle classes today taught me something about myself
•Love comes in so many different forms. I experienced a few today. And am feeling full.
I wish I would have learned this years ago. I knew that surrendering your life to God was important but I never really transferred that to the mundane day to day life. I really thought it was just the big things. Honest moment, I’m pretty bad at the marriage gig, the parenting job, ministry. (Oh and AWFUL at managing pregnancy hormones- sorry honey) When I finally acknowledged that no matter how hard I tried, I would never get it right, that’s when things started to change. HE made me better at those things! It’s so freeing to let God do His thing through me! It has been a game changer in every aspect of my life. He gives miraculous patience and discernment in parenting, unconditional love and encouraging words in marriage and speaks through you in ministry. Then you get to sit back and give Him the glory for using someone so imperfect to work through! #mondaymeditation#nothingtoprovebook @jenniesallen #positivequotes#letitgo#dailysurrender
Patience. It takes time. I probably sound like a broken record, but darn it- it's true! .
You've got to make a choice daily, it isn't easy and frankly, it hurts sometimes. You've got to make the commitment, be flexible and have a plan B (C, D through Z). Remember 1 day off, doesn't mean you're off the wagon for a lifetime.
Humanity is a service industry. If you’re not actively spending your time trying to make the world a better place by your presence (or your absence, let’s be real here lol), then what exactly are you doing? 🧐
Zoom out a little. We occupy so little of this solar system and literally none of us know what we’re doing. We’re all just sentient beings, made up of love and stories, making it all up as we go along. And I’m kinda fine with that. 👍🏻
We’ve all got one shot at this but I’ve got some wishes too:
May we build and not break.
May we find our purpose and passion here.
May we connect more and divide less.
May we feel good for no reason at all.
May we recognize our worth.
(And this last one I heard this week in a @jason_mraz song called “Have It All”):
May the best of your todays be the worst of your tomorrows. 🙏🏻
Sending you love to this moment. Pay it forward. 💜
Snagged 4 14ers this past Saturday! The 4 (Bross, Cameron, Lincoln, Democrat) were close together but by the time I got to Democrat I was dead and debating giving up. Luckily I made it to the top and it was the best view from all 4. Also had to rep the National Champs on the last peak! 😎🤙🏽
Trust the timing of your life. I am often amazed at how mine works. It’s about connectivity and your return to peace. #mondaymeditation led by @sendeirei 🙏❤️ aloooo @sbazin20 ladies please tag yourselves! Merci @zenayiti

"Wherefore, when God's will is in various things, it chooses, at any cost, that in which it appears most. God's will is found in marriage and in virginity, but because it is more in virginity, the indifferent heart makes choice of virginity though this cost it its life. God's will is found in the service of the poor and of the rich, but yet somewhat more in the serving the poor; the indifferent heart will choose that side. God's will lies in moderation amid consolations, and in patience amid tribulations: the indifferent heart prefers the latter, as having more of God's will in it. To conclude, God's will is the sovereign object of the indifferent soul; wheresoever she sees it she runs after the odour of it's perfumes, directing her course ever thither where it most appears, without considering anything else." (St. Francis de Sales, Treatise on the Love of God)⠀

Nothing witty today. I always try to start my day off by meditating for twenty minutes and then use the @fiveminutejournal. I always get the mediation in and much to my chagrin am a little less consistent with the journal and I say to my chagrin because invariably find it helps me set my day in a more positive direction, so it's definitely in my best interests to do. #weallhaveworktodo#consistency#workinprogress#mondaymeditation#bluesuit#suitedandbooted#bluoutfit photo by @scott.teitler

If you need to spark a change, try shifting your focus. When you hit a bump, instead of focusing how hard things are, try to learn from the situation. Ask yourself “what can I learn from this?” Or “what’s the opportunity here?” This helps your mind go from disaster to rebounding. This not only raises your mood and energy, but you also train yourself to respond and rebound faster. “When you change the way you see things, the things you see change.” - Wayne Dyer
"You have thousands of selves inside you. Meditation is a process of peeling back the layers of the self. We start with peeling back the personality from this lifetime." -- Frederick Lens.
I often find myself lost in my imagination of eons of history and how the Earth formed, layers of sediment from infinite, simultaneous eruptions and land masses converging and building on top of each other. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our lives are similarly constructed, carrying our collective histories and consciousness into a new life form, personality, and self, to be reformed, readjusted into a new future self. We are just layers of time and society, molding us into who we eventually become.

Saying a little prayer for 1 of my favorite singers of all time and my namesake. I didn't want to acknowledge yet another near death scare that keeps circulating on the internet about Ms. Franklin. A month or so ago she had to shut 1 down and there have been many before. Hoping it is more of the same and that she will be just fine as always.
Spending a rainy Monday in #AccraCity listening to and daydreaming about the #QueenOfSoul and how much I love her music and the impact it has had in my life, and that of so many others globally. When they coined the term "Soul Music" they definitely had Aretha's voice in mind (incomparable, timeless, ageless, heavy hitting in the sweetness of melodic sounds that truly satisfies one's soul with nourishment ). I was named after her after my father took my pregnant mother to a date night at the world famous Apollo Theater in Harlem, USA - where James Brown and Aretha Franklin were performing. My mother said the way my father looked at Ms. Franklin and his awe and love for her voice made her know at that moment that the baby she was carrying would be named after her. A born queen with a soul to be loved and revered. Prayers up to the 1 and only Queen of Soul...Miss Aretha Franklin👑🎹🎤🎵💯🙌💃 #FeelGoodMusic#SoulFood#MusicIsAWeapon#MusicIsForLife#OurGlobalFusion 👑💖
During my morning reading, I ran across this. It actually has come up in recent conversation about how the practice of yoga conflicts with religious beliefs (specifically Christianity.) I am a Christian and I make my practice my own practice. I use meditation to clear my head and also use it as time to connect with God and pray. You can make your practice, your practice. From my 6 months of practicing yoga, I have met the kindest souls. I have only had positive experiences with yoga and the yoga community....and from what i know, yoga spreads love and positivity.....The light in me was created by god and I will continue to let it shine 🤗. The light in me sees and honors the light in you. “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
