Not ready to say goodbye to this magical summer. Rumi will get to join our toddler classroom which just make my heart and mind explode. We have visited this spot regularly this month when we need respite from stuff. Doing a little hike on the pass tomorrow. #hikecolorado#monarchpass#familyadventure#hikewithtoddlers
Kicked off the Colorado trip with a shuttle up to the Monarch Pass and down Green's Creek.
Riding this section of the continental divide had unbelievable views at almost 12,000ft as well as some amazing riding all the way back to Salida.
Super fast and flowy but with enough chunk to keep you on your toes. This is one checked off my bucket list.
Had to reupload as Instagram killed the quality last time
One of the coolest things about the @highlonesome100 race is the night section, where runners stay high on alpine ridges - a continuous view of the sunset, stars, Milky Way, and eventually a rising moon and sun. I took this photo while shooting some timelapse of runners above Monarch Pass. Who can guess what the bright orb on the left side of this photo is?
Jeffrey (@hymanjd) and I nabbed a great weather day last weekend for the Colorado classic Monarch Pass mountain bike ride. The ride goes from Monarch Pass for 35 miles down into the town of Poncha Springs. With a high point of nearly 12,000', the ride has about 2,000' of ascent and about 6,000' of descent. Great, moist dirt from the previous day's rain made for fast miles and big smiles.
Two weekends ago I enjoyed a delightful trip to #Salida with @sea_bake85 and her amazing friends! Nic and I had an awesome time biking/hiking with a new group of friends! #monarchpass#colorado#exploring
While #climbing , I found myself saying "no" out of the blue. What was I even saying no to? No, don't be jelly, legs? No, don't grow so tall, #mountain ? No, don't cut thin, air? I don't know. Don't expect rationality from me with a bike weighing 70% of myself for an #elevation gain of 1200 m at an #altitude of 3447 m. But one thing I know is, a big YESSSS is for the #summit ! ---

When “Walk This Way” starts playing Roch says we dance!! I can’t count how many times I yelled “perogi” and I may have set a new personal record for hours spent awake but volunteering at Monarch Pass this weekend for @highlonesome100 was a blast! Watching runners come through was truly inspiring. #ultrarunning#rochthisway#monarchpass#highlonesome100
Colorado Trail, Day 24
We had a blast in the very cool little town of Salida, making it a bit more difficult to get out on the trail than normal. Luckily, the stunning scenery at Monarch Pass banished all thoughts of turning back, and we are chugging along on our way to Creede. Day 24 is up on the blog. Click on the link in our profile to check it out!
Day 13 on the CT (Collegiate West Alt): We hitched to Monarch Pass (thanks Matt!) and finished up the last of the Collegiate West Alt trail connecting with the CT. Along our way, we passed by an AT style hut where we met the legendary Jerry Brown, author of the CT Databook and CT Foundation board member, who was out on the trail his 7th time collecting data for the CT Guthook app. Fun hiking and chatting with him about long trails and adventures in Mexico. We made this an easy day and stopped to camp just short of Windy Peak treated to a lovely sunset. #hikecolorado#coloradotrail#cdt#happyhikers#monarchpass#thruhiker#thruhikerforlife#withguthook
