LETS TALK STRETCHING!! When should I do it? And what type? . . . 👉There are two important forms of stretching. Dynamic stretches and static stretches. Both are very important to incorporate into your workout routines. ▪️Dynamic stretches- are very important to do before your workout  and aims to prevent injury. Doing dynamic stretches allows your muscle to ‘ease’ into it, warm up and facilitate blood flow to your muscles before going into you working sets. ▪️Static stretches- are important post exercise and again helps prevent against injury. Static stretching promotes  blood flow to your muscles, the removal of waste products and reduction of muscle fatigue post exercise. Static stretches also increases range of motion and flexibility over time. Stretching post exercise can also be very beneficial to relieve stress, relax and really get in tune with your body. .🧘🏽‍♀️

Now by no means are we the healthiest family you will ever meet. Rose loves cookies, but she also loves fruits and veggies. Rose will eat fast food once in awhile, but she also has no problem eating chicken and rice. Everything is okay in moderation. That goes for her and adults!!!

I was filming my workout today and after I did bicep curls Rose wanted to try it out too. She’s done this before watching me do abs or squats, and a few others. But I never instruct her on how to do it. She just watches me & does it by herself. Kids will soak up anything that’s around them. They want to learn and be just like the adults around them. So teach your kids about being healthy at a young age, so they know how to do it when they are older ❤️

4️⃣ Lying leg curls 3x20 and then 2x15
5️⃣ Seated leg curls 4x20
6️⃣ Seated calf raises superset with standing calf raises 4x20

Happy Monday!! I’ve been sickkkkkkkk with a cold all weekend. Yuck!!!! It’s summer and I have a cold. Blah!! 🤒
So miserable. I did listen to my body and take some unplanned rest. And for my workouts while feeling less than myself, I’ve had to super scale back my intensity to accommodate my fatigue. Basically, light easy cardio (walking), super light weight and high reps, and short duration workouts. I’m so ready to feel 100% myself again!
I still managed to get a nice delt pump yesterday, even with a super easy intensity workout. And I caught my hubby appreciations his gains too. 🙂 #mondaymotivation

Motivation Monday, on my wedding day I was in love with how I looked in my dress. But these days I’m in love with how I feel about myself on a regular basis. Does it work everyday? Nah, but I’m getting there. I can’t believe that all these years of hard work, discipline, and dedication are finally paying off. 
Will it be easy? No. Will it be worth it? Yes. You think I like that I had to cut myself off from some of the people and things that I love? No. Has it become a lonely journey? Yes. Not many can understand the struggle between the old and the new.
Motivation Monday, on my wedding day I was in love with how I looked in my dress. But these days I’m in love with how I feel about myself on a regular basis. Does it work everyday? I wasn't sure how I'd feel after waking up this morning, and was disappointed that i still felt rotten.  It was hard but I made the effort to stick to my nutrition despite my lack of appetite and guzzled plenty of water which I am sure helped.  I do tend to feel very uncomfortable keeping still nowadays when I know I'm sick.  Going through what I did with my gallbladder the last couple of years changed everything for me.  So of course I wasn't going to let this one halt my routine.  I feel a lot better for trying 😊 Stronger everyday 💪🏽

Hey, it's not too late to knock out a little bit of meal prep, and set yourself up for success this week! 
One of the easiest foods to meal prep is roasted chicken. I often roast a big tray of it on Sunday so I have it all prepped and ready to go as I'm trying to quickly throw together lunches and dinners during the week. I like to use this basic spice rub, because it gives the chicken a little bit of flavor, but not so much that it's going to interfere with other flavors. This spice rub results in chicken that can be used for a range of flavors - Mexican, barbecue, wherever you want to go with it once it's roasted. This spice rub recipe yields enough to last many meal preps!

You see, I'm not one of those meal prep superstars who always knows on Sunday what Thursday's lunch will be. Half the time, life is just yanking me along, and sometimes I'm flying by the seat of my pants. I manage to get some basic meal prep done usually, but it's typically in the form of big batches of proteins, roasted veggies, and slow-burning carbs (sweet potatoes, quinoa, beans, brown rice, etc.). Even if I don't know exactly what I'll be cooking later in the week, I do like having the basics prepped so I'm not starting from scratch every single meal.

EXHAUSTED & MOODY. 
I feel like no matter how hard I try, my body just doesn’t agree with overnight shifts. Don’t get me wrong, the work is great, BUT, 5 hours sleep over 48 hours because I just wont sleep during the day no matter how hard I try, despite trying to flip my sleeping schedule around AND taking melatonin is just rough AF on my body. 
I’m told I’ll get used to it, that I’ll find a system that works for me. But the nausea, exhaustion, and irritability just isn’t providing me any hope right now. 
Back to relying on positive vibes and caffeine to get me through the next 2 weeks 💫 ☕️

Wimped out of doing @thegranitegames qualifier #1 until @hillerambeee made me feel guilty. Matched my snatch PR (running 😹) Almost got a PR. Then hit 7# under my clean PR since the class WOD had a max clean in 6:00 following the workout. 
Here’s to maintaining my strength post pregnancy and completing the GG qualifier just for fun 🥂

Day 1 of being back home was a success.  Stayed keto.  Hunger pangs weren’t too bad after a long cheat weekend.  I had my keto coffee for breakfast, chorizo/egg/cream cheese muffins with avocado for lunch, and a big salad for dinner.  I did a 4 mile run/walk interval, tried to get in a nap, and then did a pyramid set of lifting with dumbbells, 520 reps, hitting every body part.  Details in the pics.  Happy to be home and back on keto.  It’s the life for me! Did all the squats today, then so many wall balls, Russian kb swings and single arm kb push presses...oh my quads.

And while they’re still not my fave, and require so much concentration every single rep, I do think that my squats are improving :)

But the bigger win is the one that’s happening in my head.
•
 I’ve been on a long journey towards body acceptance, and in the past few years, I’ve made some serious headway.
•
I grew up in the age of Supermodels, when tall and skinny reigned supreme.
•
Rarely did I fit that mold.  Tall, yes (eventually), but with those willowy legs whose thighs didn’t touch?  No.  Not even now.
•
Then I got into fitness when the fitness model body type was idealized.  Lean, sculpted everything.  Visible 6-pack.  Toned and perky glutes.
•
For a while there, I chased the aesthetic unicorn—that ‘perfect body,’ working on it body part by body part.  Eating perfectly clean.  Feeling pressured, and miserable and like I could never measure up all the while.
•
Then I got tired of it.  I stopped worrying so much, and started just trying to be able to DO more.  Lift more, run faster, learn new skills.
It helped so much.  I surrendered absolute control over my aesthetics, and focused on the work AND appreciating the body I’ve got.
•
But still, I’m human.  While I’ve come a long ways, I still feel vulnerable to scrutiny sometimes (not always), which has kept me wearing leggings and tanks in 90+ degree/humid weather. •
So today I bit the bullet, and squatted in shorts, then took off the tank, too, when I did all those wall balls, swings and push presses—in front of members who were arriving for class and everything.
•
This was a pretty huge deal for me:  I was letting down my guard, exposing my aesthetic flaws (mommy tummy and all!) while squatting, swinging and pushing weights (not sucking it in poolside).
•
One of the beautiful thing about your 40s is that you realize that you’re not going to live forever, or be young forever, so you might as well enjoy it.  And I’d hate to look back in 10, 20 or 30 years and think I missed out on feeling good because I was self-conscious about the way my body looked.
