Join us this Sunday as we discuss how to make it through the summer raising teens and how to keep them focused for the year ahead. We will share best practices and resources for a fun and productive summer. #Dads are welcome to join us.
The college essay won’t write itself. The SAT practice book won’t fill itself out. The training routine won’t appear out of thin air. It’s time to make the most of your summer by doing the work. Not someday...but today.
Rising juniors behold: you must have a plan to study for the SAT or ACT this summer. I want you to take the August SAT or the September ACT. No plan? Enroll in PrepWell Academy and we’ll give you one. Follow the steps here and get after it. Don’t squander the time and flexibility you have this summer. Waiting to study during junior year is a recipe for poor performance and stress. Don’t do it. #arborbridge
Leo can use the CLP App on all his mobile devices! 🙌 ---------------------------------------------------------
On his iPad Air 2, he has a list tasks he needs to complete.
On his iPhone 5s he's figuring out how much his budget would be for the latest school he visited.
On his Kindle Fire 6 he's counting down the days until graduation!
And he's about to sign into his account with his Acer Iconia Tablet so that he can look at his lists of colleges. (Note Leo does not use any of these devices, he's more of an outdoor pup.)🐶⚽️
Do you have a 15-year-old daughter who is really struggling? There may be something to it… At age 15 she begins to see the world from a very different perspective. She can now understand that there is a game in life and she has to decide is she going to play the game or go against it. Some girls choose to go against the game or not play at all and unfortunately at this age it can cause a lot of distress. In the long run it can be a good thing but in the teen years it can make life difficult for all... #raisingteengirls#parenting#momsofteens#counseling
Happy Monday!! As we learn more and more about ourselves and what foods work best for our bodies in my groups I think is important to keep in mind which foods are better when they’re organic so swipe left to see the top 9; you can save that to your pictures to keep it handy or when you’re at the store and are not sure you can always search “dirty dozen” and it will pop right up, to eat healthier you don’t have to break the bank just shop smart 😉
Have you try switching to organic produce?? What’s your favorite place to shop for best prices and variety of organic foods??? .
9th and 10th grade athletes who aspire to play sports in college, please begin to put together your highlight reel NOW. Don’t wait until you’re on the fancy team or once you get your fade away jumper perfected. Get footage now so you can practice creating a compelling video. It takes time and effort. Start now to be ready later.
Item #3 on our list that college students might not think to bring to school is a First Aid Kit!
To be honest we weren't going to add this to our list because we thought this item was a no brainer, but after finding out our sister was the only one out of her group of friends to bring one last year, we realized that it needed to be mentioned.
A first aid kit is more than just a box with bandaids in it, is has other important tools that can help you treat a small cut or to stabilize an infection until you can see a medical professional!
So please remember to invest in one.
This is one of the biggest challenges in my work with teens. Long-term perspective is tough to teach. The sooner they get it - the better. I do my best to paint a picture of medium and long-term goals that will inspire actions today. This is especially important when it comes to college admissions - where the money is made in 9th and 10th grade - not 11th and 12th.

I’ve always been hippie-ish...it’s just part of my nature. My mama raised me in bare feet, taking me on walks to pick fresh mint along the roadside for the sun tea we’d make later that summer day. To this day, I’m still in my bare feet until it snows. She raised me to recognize all God has given us and to focus on the good life has to offer. Love, nature, the changing seasons, music, good vibes, forgiveness, family, friendships, celebrations, time spent together, hugs and more love.
I was raised in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Where, like many cultures, all celebrations included food. We loved food. Food was also the cure all. If I had a bad breakup, we’d mask the pain with ice cream. Failed a test, lasagna it was. Bad week? It was an all out junk food buffet complete with tastycakes, ring bologna & cheese, chips and dip, cookies, etc.
So, the habits followed me throughout life including lots of diets, weight gain, more diets and a bout with bulimia. I’ve struggled my entire adult life wishing I could control those impulses but even more...longing to love my body.
The biggest snag? I hated exercise. It was outside my comfort zone. I knew nothing about it, it wasn’t quick enough, I was impatient and greedy.
I bought a beachbody DVD set off an infomercial after my first two kids were born and I was struggling with dropping the weight. YOGA BOOTY BALLET. But I also had every excuse in the book why I couldn’t find the time to actually use it. Honestly, I think it went in the DVD player once. One time.
Almost 20 years later, I am living inside a body I love. It’s slim and strong and VERY healthy. Sure, I still get visits from the bulimia demon but he doesn’t have power over me anymore. I now coach women through finding their best selves. We find the perfect workout program, a nutrition plan that matches and I place them in an accountability group of women they’ll have a lot in common with.
The accountability is key. Almost every one of my clients has said, “This is what I’ve been missing all these years!” The empowerment that comes when you have a cheering section is the game changer!
Join me, won’t you?
Our 2nd Item on our list of items students might not think to bring to college is a sewing kit!
Although this item isn't a high priority, it is a tool to at least think about investing in, because you never know when you'll need to fix a wardrobe malfunction.
If you don't know how to sew, don't worry! It's very easy to learn a simple stitch and we've also found a very helpful tutorial by @Buzzfeednifty, which we linked on our profile.
This time next week I get to be with not only these amazing friends but so many more. •
Do you have those friends in your life that make you laugh until you cry?
I’m lucky because I do!!! •
It’s funny sometimes, when the thing you didn’t even know you needed, God puts you in the right place with the right people just for you! •
He gave me a group of women that get me, we work together, lift each other up, laugh, and help hundreds of women and men get on a path of nutrition and fitness! •
They are real, loving and hard working women and I’m so honored to be on a team with such amazing health coaches who care! •
Here’s to Indy in a week!!!!
“I don’t like feeling deprived. Life was meant to be enjoyed, right?” A common statement when people need to justify why they don’t want to hear about revamping their nutritional focus. My thoughts? You only get one body, why not treasure it and celebrate it with foods that actually FEED you, not slow you down with added weight or health issues?
Take a look at that picture again. I certainly didn’t feel deprived yesterday when I ate every single bit of all six of those meals & snacks! The timed nutrition of this program makes eating healthy so simple. It takes a little bit to get into the groove but once you feel it click, you’re golden!
And, enjoy life? Let me tell you... NOTHING about the above picture wasn’t enjoyable. And EVERYTHING tasted better because I knew it wasn’t going to make me feel guilty in ten minutes.
Nothing tastes as good as being healthy feels! I promise!

When was the last time you brush your skin??? #benefits#dryskin#brushing#freegroup
The preteen/teen years are the beginning of the end of childhood! This time can be the toughest time for the mother-daughter unit & how it's handled will definitely affect the relationship and the daughter's outlook & prospective forever! Build a strong foundation for a positive future! Check the link in the bio to get your book today!
I'm Michaela also a serial entrepreneur! I have 3 amazing kids and a wife to an Air Force officer. I am currently living in Alamogordo NM home of the White Sands National Monument!
I think it's important to have #honestmomtalk because motherhood can be lonely at times, always wondering if you're doing it right, and well there are no ribbons or awards for parenting so it's nice to get a little feedback from time to time.
I've been married to my High School sweetheart since I graduated college with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Education. My passion for teaching has always been there but right out of college I taught special education for a number of years, went on to teach English while living in Japan and then when my oldest was a year old I decided to switch gears and teach all things #birth#honestbirthtalk was something Crystal and I were doing for a while without evening knowing it! Friends from far and wide would solicit our advice and knowledge all the time and a year ago we really saw the need to make it official!! Best decision EVER!
I'm a lover of coffee, working out, spending time outdoors with my kids and lunch dates with my husband. If I'm not working I can be found supporting the amazing spouses that serve our country in a different way.

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I’ve been talking, texting and messaging everyone that showed interest in becoming a part of our fit-family; there’s no magic pill and the system I use does require effort and commitment but trust me when I say, if I can do it, anyone else can 🤷🏻♀️ just keeping it real here, I’m not super disciplined and I can get distracted very easily so that’s why I know, this works!! Now, I love making things easier so a 4 day workout program is equally exciting and scary 😂 but hey, it’s all about challenging our bodies right, now, setting up the test group! I love coaching and can not wait to see more lives changing, have you ever been a test group participant?? .
Robert Frost’s most famous quote is “to take the road less traveled by.” But sometimes no matter what path you choose, you might end up at a dead end and there’s nothing you can do but turn around and start a new journey. Just like we did on Leo’s afternoon walk.
The college process is the same way sometimes we hit problems while preparing for college but don’t let that fault you from continuing your journey!
Summer internship? Awesome. Don’t get caught hiding in a dingy extra office space staring at a computer or doing random research. Engage with people. The value in the internship comes from the people you meet, help, and connect with. Your work product is an after-thought. It’s all about building the network. Get some!
Meet my baby, Cassie 💕 She loves sleeping in her bed beside me or on my couch while I work throughout the day. So...you’re probably hearing for the first time that I work a full time job from my home. I love it, but you know what I love even more? Being able to spend all day with her, alongside my children, while they are out of school or not working.
She (Cassie) LOVES her mama being at home 😆 I have to be honest in saying it can get a little boring, but I tend to listen to my favorite podcasts all day long and LOVE IT 🙌🙌 Do you have a favorite podcast? See the comments for a few of my favorite and double tap if you want to know more about them OR have a favorite you can share. 👇👇👇
Sometimes you have to put your thoughts into words... 18 months difference in these two pictures-
January 2017- sad, heavy, worried, overwhelmed, unhappy and feeling that nothing was going my way. Giving up.
June 2018- stronger, healthier, fitter not just physically but mentally- still feeling overwhelmed, worried, sad but learning how to recognize it and coping with it. Letting myself feel the sad with the joy, the pain with the pleasure, now knowing that we need to go through the hard to appreciate the good- it's part of being human. I'm still learning and getting stronger everyday- progress not perfection!
So today it's way more than wanting to be thin- it's wanting to change and tackle what is going on inside as well as the outside. I am thankful everyday for the programs, books and people that have been in my life these last few months- they have all been a gift of support and love and learning!
Find joy in your journey!❤

Be mindful and careful when you pick your foods; it’s always best to have more protein and fiber with less sugar but if you must like in this case, watch your portions if you go with the non dairy options, then you’ll add your own protein and fiber 😉 How often do you read the labels and what do you look for?? I always check ingredients first 🤷🏻♀️
Packing for college can be stressful, and so we at College Life Prep have decided that every Monday and Friday we will be posting items students might forget to pack as a helpful reminder.
The first item on our list is a flashlight! Flashlights are an important tool to have in any emergency situation because you never know if you might loose power. Of course you don't need to have as many as Leo has but it's good to be prepared.
