Long post 🚨: This past week was my first ever National Climbing Competition. If I had to describe it in 1 word: hard. I’m not mad that I competed, tried, and didn’t do well. I am humbled by how strong and great the competition is out there. It will definitely not be my last National Cup! It motivates me to get stronger and train harder. I give all glory to God for the opportunity to compete and have fun. My finger tips bled (literally) by how hard I was trying. The next day me and @t_t_bui went to Reimer’s and climbed outside a bit. I finally got Yurtle the Turtle (5.12a). Thankful for sweet friends that cheered me on from afar and who came out to see me. It was awesome getting to see @thelambfamb for the first time in too long! Time for some rest (1-2 days) and then back to training hard! 😊💪🏽 Congrats to @gregorvezonik and @kyra_condie for taking first place! Y’all absolutely crushed it. Also congrats on @clairebuhrfeind for 3rd! (Side note: watching Claire climb is so impressive, but when someone took a bad fall she took over 30 minutes of her climb time to care for her and make sure she had what she needed and for her to know that she was just there for her. That speaks way beyond her strength in climbing and shows that there are more important things to her than just climbing. Claire, you rock! And you’re so incredibly strong.) #climbing#momentumclimbinggym#houston#competition#momentum#momentumclimbingsilverstreet#nationalcup#usaclimbing @usaclimbing #climbinggym#climbing_lovers#climbingislife#climbingismypassion#climbingisbliss#aaronsclimbinghashtag#climbingnation @scarpana #scarpa#scarpaclimb#scarpasponsormeplease#dragos

Are you one who has to have everything in perfect order before starting?
STOP IT!!! Time is precious. Living in the present is priceless. I beg you not to miss out on either.
In February my sister’s family of six needed to live outside their home while the interior was being stained/painted, so when she asked if they could stay with me I said yes.
Over the two weeks they were in my home we had a blast! Precious chaos (at times) is what I like to call it.
One night the kids wanted to get out Aunt Gi Chi’s paints and create. With the dining room table needed for meals and homework, I decided to make a change in my space. I moved all the furniture out of the way and set up folding tables and chairs. Did this look like chaos? Yep! But, I didn’t care.
What happened next was life at its best in that moment. The kiddos starting creating...and creating! There were a few spills on the floor and lots of hand washing, but I could have cared less. THIS was magic unfolding before my eyes!
My parents stopped by and my dad wanted to paint too.
Why does this image still pull at my heart strings? At the time of this photo my dad had experienced four major strokes over five years, so his motor skills were not what they used to be. I watched him from the kitchen as he struggled to put brush to canvas. This was his new normal.
After a little while, my youngest niece hopped onto his lap to help add her own touch to my dad’s masterpiece. My heart melted.
This is the man who ran with me holding onto the handle of my childhood bike to balance the ride. This is the man who played bass guitar and gave me a tape recorder and a cassette of the band Bread to begin my life-long love of music. This is the man who could draw/paint a realistic portrait without thinking. And, this is the man who had his fifth and worst stroke approximately a month after this photo was taken.
No more brush holding. No more clear words. No more walking distances without a walker. Yes, another new normal.
So, my dear ones, move the damn furniture, dance your heart out when everyone is looking, speak your truth.
Living is priceless, do it now!!!
