In Healing class this past month we learned a practice called brain balancing, to balance different aspects and parts of our brain/psychology/emotions.
Right brain (wide angle)
Left brain (focus)
Primal brain (intuition/instinct)
Those are the hemispheres we work with in this philosophy and balancing them allows us to be more of a witness— to ourselves and our patterns/addictions.
This practice has been a profound bridge for me into creating space from the otherwise constant judgement I place upon myself and others. And the underlying denial around my patterning and addictions in my life (which are not just substances).
Bridges create a way to traverse otherwise difficult terrain. Brain balancing is that bridge in my life right now.
Throw back to when I used to hike with an actual camera because for a long time I didn't have a smartphone. The interesting part is I remember these adventures far more vividly. I did lots of exploring before I even knew what Instagram was. Now I use Instagram as kind of a photo diary for myself to remember what and when I did things and to share my adventures with friends and family back home. However there are so many old photos I found I want to post because they make me so happy. Sorry in advance for the nostalgic spam. #hikingwithdogs#newyork#mohonk#newpaltz#fall#ratterrier#whyihike#optoutside#rei1440project#hudsonvalley#iheartny
