This month's Liberty society is beautiful blues and subdued prints! Your Liberty chips have changed slightly and are now an actual fabric swatch. See my stories for an explanation and also how to fully customise them if you wish!
Gorgeous geese alert! @nancypurvisstudio created this absolutely stunning, neutral-filled, minimal yet impactful masterpiece! 🖤 This “Concordia Quilt” was hand quilted, using a calming trio of our Pure Elements Fabrics, “Snow, Mystic Grey, and Moonstone.”🌚🌫
The pattern is found in her book, “Quilting From Every Angle” that features 16 geometric quilt designs - link in bio▫️🔲▫️
i've been quilting for somewhere over 25 years, i learned when i was 10ish (i'm 38 now). my skills have obviously improved greatly over time, but i'm still learning every day. it's been about 6+ years since i've used any sort of pre-made quilt pattern, i've moved away from other people's designs to focus solely on my own (though i do gather inspo from quilts throughout history and am researching more and more the way they have changed throughout time). when i taught myself to dye fabrics i stopped using designer prints almost completely, something i am just starting to slowly reintegrate back into my work alongside my dyes. #halfsqauretriangles are my comfort zone and how i create most of my work and how my work is most recognizable to others, but it's fun dipping my toes in and out of some other styles and designs from time to time. i don't call myself a "modern quilter" really, though i do use the hashtag to keep my work noticed, because it doesn't feel quite right. i don't pattern test for other folks, i love old school designs, i love fabrics that aren't the trend. i make fabrics that don't always match what's out there. i like to march to my own drum and am finding my own niche.. and i'm really excited about my new collection for december. i've already started getting messages from folks asking for more details and sharing their anticipation! i'll be showing more of it as it gets sewn up. if this past weekend is any indication, i'll be busy for the next 6 weeks or so - i dyed over a dozen new fabrics and worked on 6 pillow covers. it's fun being inspired. but this is my second job, i take it very seriously, i pay taxes on it, it helps pay the bills, and it means i only squeeze in a few hours of hiking with my boyfriend for every 12 hours of sewing in a weekend (and then comes my 40-hr a week dayjob). i work my butt off at this, and i'm feeling strong and proud about what i do. thanks to everyone for all of the feedback, dialog, comments, likes etc as i've thought out loud the past week. 🧡💛💗
You gotta nourish to flourish. 🌷🌻🌹
First bit of lettering with a new water brush and I feel like I have to learn all over again! Does that happen to you when you switch an old tool out for a new one or is it just me? 🎨🖌😅
