Salted pork Zouni/雑煮 brunch on the hottest weekend
In Summer? that's a great question.
Zouni, a Japanese soup with cooked mochi, is a kind of classic food for New Years Day breakfast (also strongly associated with Osechi, a series of ceremonial foods). However, we #mochilovers cook this almost throughout the year, simply because it's so good for weekend brunch, especially after Friday night drinking🙌
Recipe? Zouni is a homecuisine and 100 families have 100 recipes actually, but ours is surprisingly simple and yummy, just using salted pork and its broth, Katsuobushi(dried/fermented bonito) broth, boiled seasonal greens and two pieces😋 of crispy toasted mochi.
This hybrid, umami-boosted, yet so clean broth would be a good remedy for your stomach and you must be ready for Saturday drinking👉
