Geneticist Brian Sykes, PhD discusses a study in which European-American (white) inhabitants of the southern U.S. were genetically tested and found to have had significant amounts of African DNA. He makes the point that, had these so-called white people been alive centuries ago, they all would have been slaves according to the “one drop rule (of Black blood)” historically used to justify slavery. He then states that he regrets not having tested white supremacists or KKK members because he would have pointed out to them the specific biological functions and organs that their African genes were responsible for, and asked them whether they would prefer to live without that organ (kidney, liver, etc) since it originated from an African (“black”) ancestor. Science is finally telling us what most intelligent people have known for centuries, and that is that racism and colorism are bullshit scams used by power elites to control and monopolize human labor, and to capitalize upon the visual and theoretical illusion of “innate” human “difference”; I.e. evolutionary hierarchy. It is that simple. #Racism is a scam. There is no basis for segregation or racial prejudice; not now, not ever. -WS3 #africa#culturalunity#equality#genetics#dna#diversity#biracial#crosscultural#mixedrace#fuckracism#humanrace#humanity
So, I was scrolling through Instagram (okay, actually I was procrastinating) and I came across Asia Jackson (@aasian). I admire her so much, especially for her fight against bullying and the #magandangmorenx campaign.
Not many people know this but dark skinned Filipinos, like myself, are put down and even made fun of back home.
I've been discriminated against for the colour of my skin. And it's so sad that there are still people in this world who set standards based on the color of one's skin.
I remember being picked on for being too dark to be Filipino and too "yellow" to be Nigerian. It's crazy!
If only we can be kind to each other and accept others for who they are, the world would be a happier place.
But you can't expect to be accepted for who you are unless you learn to accept yourself.
Day 4: Who do you spend the most time in your life WITH, thinking ABOUT, talking TO or fixating ON? For each of these relationships, what needs attention first and is there a common theme to conflicts you experience with each of these people?
Me. I am in a relationship with me. And as such, I spend 75% of my time in my head. Thinking, hiding, making shit up about other people and avoiding conflict. .
But the rest of the time is spent with this guy. Mr. Hands down the most secure, comfortable in his own skin, all he wants “is peace of mind and the big piece of chicken” guy. If you’ve ever met him, you know this is FACT. But as comfortable as he was with letting me live in my head, lately he’s been forcing me to come out and hang out with him. And suddenly the things I’m hiding from aren’t so dark and the stories I’m making up in my head fall away. .
We’re not perfect but I’d rather be imperfect in the world with this guy than a fake in my head. .
