I don't think they know what the colour green is supposed to be. Or how the wet gras feels like under their feed in the early mornings.
I don't understand what gives us the right to put them in there. The sad truth is, that in comparison to bigger facilities, the animals I saw are probably the ones who are better off. The so-called happy pigs and cows.
We can only try to imagine how they really might feel.

It makes sense. It was #reassurance of what I was thinking. It's time. This last month has been hell. I dont want to feel like this anymore. I want to feel #happy , at #peace , and #normal again. I have a lot of work to do.

This was one of our favorite chill meals when we last visited Nashville. Life is about harmony, right? You can’t eat perfectly every single day, and part of that is actively choosing when you splurge and knowing when to reign it back. Feeling guilty over food is a challenge for so many people, but it doesn’t have to be. Learn what works for your body, get yourself healthy, and then decide when and what your splurge may be. As long as you have the control, and don’t let the food cravings control you, then you’re on the right path.
Because what’s life without a french fry every once in a while? (And I promise, there will be a fun meal at the end of this @whole30 train…and then back on the grind in prep for some fall things!)

This hamburger, for me, represented a mindshift.
I grilled it at home. (Patties from the venerable Bonetti Freezer Meats in Langley.)
But where I’d normally fix myself two complete hamburgers, because I’m greedy, I instead made one double-burger. #mindshift
The double-burger is a thing of beauty. I may even prefer it to a single, even if the meat poundage is similar. Why? Because two thinner patties equals more crispy surface area. More grilled goodness. A better burger.
So where I was once a two-burger bro, I’m now a double-patty dude.
The buns and the cheese came from our local store, Templeton Market.
My wife stepped out while I grilled. “Havarti cheese!” I exclaimed when she returned. “Is there anything they DON’T have at Templeton?”
Apparently, I’d be told, yes. Any other cheese besides havarti.
Add mustard, ketchup, lettuce scraps, vidalia onion and pickled jalapeños and we called it dinner.
She’s a single-patty gal. Which was good, as we only had three.
Marriage is about compromise, right?
I love me some Amazon Prime and I love me some essential oils. BUT YALL!!! The two don’t mix. Remember- friends don’t let friends buy crap.
Y’all blew my DMs up with questions about all sorts of Brand questions. Which is funny because you know I am bias. But also an honor bc it means you know I’ll shoot you straight. I thought I’d share some facts about essential oils. 💧Essential oils have become popular. And every single company is coming out with their own line of oils. TJ Maxx, Target, Kohl’s and my beloved Amazon. This is certainly an instance where you get what you pay for. 💧You are not guaranteed what you are getting is actually pure essential oil and not synthetic junk. There is not very much regulation on the essential oils industry. So the words “100% pure” or “Certified” mean nada. You need more then words. 💧Research is vital. Legit-CALL the Company. Ask questions. Where is your oil coming from? How do they farm? Do they purchase from a vendor? How do they test and regulate that vendor? Here is what you need to look for: No gmo seeds, no chemicals ever used on soil or plants 🌱 , ethically sourced plants harvested at the proper time and plants are distilled at a low pressure and low temperature. If you’re purchasing through a friend ASK them! They should be able to provide this information and resources. 💧The oily world is big... and growing. It can be an overwhelming world to navigate. One of the huge benefits of Young living is the education. The resources and community are second to none. You cant get me with your Amazon oils. 😉

There is SO much more to a transformation than our physical appearance. There are SO many reasons why we choose to become healthier and more fit. It goes SO much deeper than our skin. I want to address the transformation inner you is SCREAMING for.
People think if your fit, it’s easy. That you don’t struggle saying NO to “unhealthy food”. That you don’t struggle with pushing play, going to the gym, or getting a run in. I am here to tell you It’s NOT easy. It takes take a lot to get to that place and maintain that place. My husband has straight-up told me “it’s easy for you to say no and stay disciplined.” Well, I am here to tell you this is 100% not true! It’s NOT easy. It’s daily work to stay strong and disciplined. It takes a conscious mindset shift and inner transformation to get there. It takes reflection and a desire to treat ourselves better to get there.
It has taken me years of negative self-talk and a negative mindset to finally realize something needs to change.
My deep rooted negative feelings about myself started when I was in Middle School, when I got made fun of for being “fat”. I was in Middle School! Middle School is the most awkward years of our lives! Being called “fat” is something that will NEVER leave a woman’s memory (and I’m sure it’s the same for men). This is something even in my adult years I struggle with and have to constantly overcome. It instilled a lot of negative self-talk and lead to treating myself poorly for a long period of time.

Because sometimes we have a skewed mindset of what “healthy” is. What you put in your body is so important!
Love what Lisa has to say! "Meet me, I thought I was healthy. I thought it was normal to feel bloated. I thought drinking beer but eating "clean" and working out 4-5 times a week was healthy. That was me at 34, just before I was introduced to my nutrition program. Now I am 40, I have had a set of twins, I only work out 1-2 times a week and I still enjoy a nice beer!
What I found was that eating clean was not doing me any favors. I was not getting ANY nutrition, my food was bankrupt of vitamins and minerals. In my first system, I released 20lbs and 3 dress sizes. I have not only maintained my results but I feel better than I did in my 20s!
I hear this often…”I want to work with you, but I’m not a salesperson.”
Yeah...well me either. My passion is leadership and personal growth.
1. You shared a Coke can with your name on it that cause everyone to look for a Coke with their name on it.
2. You posted a picture of a delicious meal from a restaurant that caused all of your friends to go experience it for themselves.
3. You shared the latest book that you read that caused all your friends to hit up AMAZON and get it.
4. You went to see a movie and loved it so much that you shared it with your friends and it caused them to take their entire family to see the film.
5. You received a great deal at a local store...a sweet discount. You couldn’t wait to share it with your friends so they could also take advantage of the savings.
You know what the only difference is….
You didn’t get paid for those referrals!
That restaurant did.
That movie theater did.
And... some days you have ice cream for dinner🍦🤷🏻♀️ I know, I know I'm eating healthy and working out right? I'm losing weight and feeling great - but tonight, tonight was one of those nights! (come on you have them too!) 😁😉 You know the one - where you think you have it all under control but after dog walking, Mom's Taxiing, client calls and emails next thing you know it's 9 pm you are hungry and dinner is NOT ready!
So, while I started preparing my roasted veggies and yummy honey mustard chicken I made the conscience decision instead to just polish off the last 1/2 cup of this ice cream. 😂😂 Have you had it -- it's amazing and hey it has PROTEIN in it!
THE DIFFERENCE from the old me is -- this will not deter me from stopping my healthy way of eating - drinking my water - or skipping out on getting enough sleep tonight. INSTEAD it just curbed the chocolate craving I had, totally satisfied me and I consider it a TREAT not a CHEAT!! Good luck getting me out of bed for the gym at 5am, but you can bet I’ll be up with the birds for a sunrise flight 🙋🏻♀️ Gimme a coffee (a strong one), a book, and a short Pre-Check line and I’m a happy camper.
I’m far from a chipper morning person, but when we travel I’ve always found it most effective to get flights over with first thing in the morning. Traveling midday always feels like a waste on both ends (unless it puts you arriving at your destination the next morning…dealing with time zone changes are a traveler’s labor of love), and traveling overnight just somehow always feels more exhausting (talk about struggle bus the next day). If you have any overnight travel tips, would love to hear them! Plus, sunrise flights = we’ve gotten to enjoy a few stunning sunrises that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise ☀️ (This one’s from our last trip to the West Coast🛫.)

Im so convinced my job was so good to me and that i truly enjoyed it. That’s the image I have in my head. My boyfriend laughs when he hears me saying this as he answers how unhappy and tired off work I am so often. Other close friends also realize how I changed - for the negative - and how work seems to steal my energy and happiness. When I play with my cute little niece and realize I check my emails to make sure I don’t miss anything (on the weekends!!) is a clear sign im@doung something wrong. You know what sucks, getting burnt the fuck out. That can't sleep, need sleep, can't eat, need to eat, body aching, mind racing, high anxiety bullshit that seems to knock you on your ass when you least expect it and you cant get the fuck up on your own. YEAH, THAT.
Well, I went through that a few months ago and let me tell you that being stuck in bed for 9 days is not the slightest bit legit or fun or anything other than a bunch of bullshit.
That experience taught me SO MUCH that I wanted to start a movement to help other girl bosses avoid burning out, to today's #HashtagFiles episode is dedicated to helping you avoid a girl boss burnout!!

Durch die Krise und wieder raus #2
Nicht nur die Dankbarkeit hat mir in den letzten Wochen sehr geholfen, sondern auch mein Verständnis von Schmerz und radikaler Akzeptanz. Ich habe verstanden, dass Schmerz nicht durch die Situation an sich entsteht, sondern durch meine Bewertung der Situation und vor allem durch den Gedanken, dass die Situation anders sein sollte als sie ist.
Ein Beispiel dafür ist, dass ich mir gedacht habe, dass mein geliebter Mensch doch jetzt neben mir liegen müsste. Dass er bei mir sein müsste. Dass er mit mir zusammen sein müsste. Dass es so ungerecht ist und gemein.
Diese Gedanken haben einen unerträglichen Schmerz in mir ausgelöst. Verzweiflung, Angst, Traurigkeit und ein Gefühl von Ohnmacht.
Dann habe ich gedacht: „Er ist nicht bei mir, er liegt nicht neben mir. Er fehlt mir. Ich fühle mich alleine. Aber ich bin nicht alleine. Ich habe sehr viele Menschen in meinem Leben, die mich lieben und die ich liebe. Ich liebe ihn und er liebt mich. Aber er ist eben trotzdem nicht mehr in dieser Form bei mir. Und wenn er gerade neben mir liegen sollte, dann würde er neben mir liegen. Er tut es gerade nicht. Er tut es vielleicht nie mehr. Ich verstehe es nicht. Aber es ist wie es ist. Und alles darf sein. Ich bin traurig. Und das ist ok. Alles darf sein.“
Diese Gedanken haben nicht die Situation verändert, aber den Schmerz. Der Schmerz ist verschwunden und hat die Gefühle von Ohnmacht, Angst und Verzweiflung mitgenommen. Was blieb, war die Traurigkeit. 🌊
Und die darf auch bleiben. Und auch mal gehen, weil sie von der Freude verjagt wird. Und sie darf immer wieder kommen. Denn…mir fehlt mein geliebter Mensch so sehr. Aber der Schmerz, der muss wirklich nicht sein!
Schau mal ganz genau hin, welche Gedanken in dir Schmerz auslösen. Und dann frag dich, ob du nicht vielleicht bereit bist diese Gedanken loszulassen und die Situation zu akzeptieren. (Ich weiß, das kann ganz schön schwer sein, aber es lohnt sich! Versprochen!)
