Sometimes we get caught up in what could’ve been, or “I should’ve dont this instead of THAT”. Next thing you know, the crazy cycles begins and you find yourself lost in it and trying to claw your way out.
This is easier said than done, but CHOOSE happiness and CHOOSE to learn from your mistakes.

I considered myself a loser in school. The one who never fit in. The socially awkward girl who tried too hard to make people like her…unsuccessfully btw. I marveled at the popular girls in school because they seemed like such naturals. And I assumed “natural” was the key. My struggles were because I wasn’t born like them. SWEAT IS BEAUTIFUL
My face is glistening.
Sweat still accumulating between the 1s & 2s.
A stray hair stuck to the side of my face.
A hot mess to some, but to me — relentlessly beautiful.
The sweat means I worked for IT.
IT being my own physical & mental health.
And not only does that result in joy by way of sky high endorphins but I ENJOYED the process in getting to this sweaty mess.
It is a privilege to move so I will keep pursuing sweat.
My workouts are not a punishment to my mind & body for the foods I eat to nourish my body or just plain love to eat (like 🍩🍕🥂). It is an honor to move each & every day,
to work for this sweat,
and enjoy each sweaty ass drop 💧💦along the way.

O N M A C R O N U T R I E N T ________________B A L A N C E -- Macronutrient balance means getting the right combination of protein, healthy fats and fiber-rich carbs to fill you up, keep you satiated and keep your blood sugar balanced. I find that this is often one of the biggest game changers for clients. Why? Because when you don't get the right balance of nutrients, depending on what you're eating, you may end up with cravings, spiked blood sugar, feeling heavy/lethargic, lacking in micronutrients (vitamins, minerals) and/or eating more or less of particular macronutrients than your body needs -- all of which will prevent you from reaching your nutrition/health/wellness goals. So, this is really really important.

The Arabic formula for wealth states that health is represented by the number 1 in a million dollars. All the rest of the stuff just fills in the zeroes.
When you take away HEALTH...all you’re left with is a bunch of zeroes!
Here’s a crazier thing...most people will spend more money 💴 on their house, vacations, cars, and TVs in their lifetime, than they do investing in their health.
Well...that is until the number 1 thing is gone...then they trade all the stuff in to try and regain their health. By that time, it’s usually too late and they end up investing in the wrong thing.
Like I said in my earlier post...late 20s, early 30s most will start to feel a decline in health. This is typical. What you do about that during THAT TIME (meaning that you don’t put it off), will determine your quality of life for the next 60-70 years. =========================

When is the last time you got out in nature or spent some quality time with friends, or better yet both?
More and more studies are showing the benefits of being in nature (aka Forest bathing), including reduce blood pressure, anxiety, aggression, ADHD symptoms, and improved pain control, immune system function, and increased happiness. In fact, Doctors In the UK are now prescribing nature to their patients.
My personal health goal for myself is to get out in nature once a week, whether this is reading my book by the ocean, a stroll through the park, or a hike in the woods. I don’t always meet this goal, but I feel infinitely better when I do. I try to make it a priority for my physical and mental health.

Ever feel guilty over what you ate on the weekend?
Well, I’m going to break down my weekend in food for you nutritionist-style, and I’m not leaving anything out. Ready?
🍴What I ate this weekend (Friday - Sunday): a brownie, one homemade chocolate granola bar, 1/2 a scone with jam, some dark chocolate chips, a handful of popcorn, 2 giant salads, eggs, tons of veggies in other various forms (roasted, raw, sautéed), a couple apples, a banana, bunless homemade burger, chicken, hummus, lentils.
🤓What I liked about it: That it wasn’t perfect. That I felt satisfied after every meal. That I enjoyed meals and snacks with loved ones and made it very social. That I walked a LOT this weekend and fit in a couple great workouts.
🤷🏽♀️What I didn’t like about it: Not enough sleep or H20 💦 and went a really long time between meals a couple times, which had me hankering for a snack more than usual (for example: started eating popcorn while making a meal, which is not typical). I had a little more “treat” foods than I usually would, and for me that’s also definitely related to not drinking enough water or getting enough sleep.
💃🏽My feelings about how I ate this weekend overall? Fairly neutral, to be honest. A few years ago I would have been starting the week sweating off entire food groups, trying to pack my schedule with extra workouts to “burn off” the treats, and beating myself up for my self-perceived failure for eating a few treats. Now, I enjoy what I eat, monitor the signs my body is sending me and check in with how I’m feeling, and adjust accordingly.
Here’s a secret: when you stress about food and how you’re eating constantly, feeling guilty AF over a couple treats and punishing myself emotionally only to make myself miserable....you’re probably going to end up stress eating all of the things you are trying to avoid and more.
Instead? Get clinical. Take the anxiety out of it. Focus on the big rocks like getting adequate sleep, water, protein, veggies and movement. Keep moving forward. Have FUN. Rinse & repeat.

FALL ASLEEP // Do you find it easy to fall asleep? What about staying that way? A common Vata imbalance is middle of the night insomnia. That means you are wide awake sometime between 2-6AM for no apparent reason and often, frustratingly, you’re unable to go back to sleep.
Not only is Vata energy naturally high at this time of year it is also high between 2-6AM. The qualities of lightness, mobility, and clarity increase during this time which moves the energy upwards towards our heads and BAM we’re wide awake. Probably rehashing some small event or preparing tomorrow’s worries.
Here are some ways to tweak your nighttime routine to sleep like a baby all through the night. We’re looking to calm the nervous system (aka Vata central) and ground the body.
✨Shut off all screens two hours before bedtime.
✨Oil your feet with sesame oil then put them in warm socks.
✨Have a cup of warm milk (or mylk) with a big pinch of nutmeg.
✨Practice alternate nostril breath and/or legs up the wall for 5-10 minutes before crawling in bed.
✨Get cozy under a nice heavy blanket and shut the lights off by 10PM.

My intention for this meal was to make it a wrap but because the tortillas are too small I’m calling it a wrap taco 💁🏼♀️🌮 *important to warm up the tortilla to make them soft, at home I threw them in a pan, at work for lunch I threw them in the microwave for 20 seconds. This meal is my new obsession this week it’s so good 😍

“IF IT'S WHITE IT AIN’T RIGHT”🤨 .
I remember my trainer said this to me as part of his “nutrition advice” almost a decade ago, this was before I immersed myself into formal nutrition education.🧐 .
Of course "white foods" are shunned in the nutrition world! It’s speaking fear to the majority of the Western population whose diet consists of processed foods void of many nutrients.🥀 .
But I’m here to tell those of you who are NOT suffering from insulin resistance or a metabolic disorder, who do NOT have digestive, psychiatric or auto-immune issues, there seems to be no reason to leave something like white rice🍚 out of the diet. If it’s a matter of preference or physically you feel better without it then COOL! 🕺🏻I personally think it's delicious, adds variety and does not have the damaging effect that #gluten has on so many individuals. Also I love #sushi so there’s that.🍱💁🏻♀️ .
WHITE RICE VS BROWN RICE, WHAT’S THE DIFF?
Brown rice is brown because it’s got the bran on it. White rice is just rice with the bran and germ removed which means you’re left with very little fibre, but so what? If you’re already pairing it with a nice plate of vegetables like in this photo then you got your fibre covered! 😉
What I’m getting at is that if you love white rice and are looking to fuel your workouts and promote muscle gain, I typically recommend you consume rice on heavy workout days or after a lot of activity and always in conjunction with high nutrient foods. White rice is a “simple carb” which makes it quick and easy to digest and great in helping you drive amino acids to your muscles for growth and repair. #helloGAINZ

Several months ago I went to a Create and Connect @wmgoods and met a girl that said she was starting a plant-based ice cream company in Portland—music to my ears, I think I even said, “it’s about time!” Finally got a chance to taste @vowicecreams last weekend at their pop-up @shopfieldtrip and it was DELICIOUS. All of it is dairy, gluten and soy free, including the homemade waffle cones. She even makes her own marshmallow using aquafob! There’s a lot of vegan food on the market now, doesn’t mean it’s all good...but this is good 👌🏻super creamy and flavorful, you’d never know it was dairy free
Excited to see what happens next, rumor has it pints and a storefront are coming soon 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
