Snippet 1: I went to a meditation class this weekend  with a lovely lady that attends my yoga/barre classes regularly. 🧘‍♀️ One of the the concepts spoke about was this idea of when it comes to dealing with difficult people - vs avoiding (which some of us might wish we could do this holiday season #whoiswithme 🙋🏼‍♀️😜), viewing the interaction(s) as a gift - an opportunity to practice patience. 🎁 I loved this idea ❤️as it puts the responsibility back on me -  my response is my responsibility. Feeling so grateful that I hosted my first Personalized Wellness Retreat this weekend! 🙏🏻 My retreater is a client of mine in grade 10 and she truly enjoyed the experience. Here are some pictures I wanted to share from the retreat: the guest room for the retreaters, millet and tagine was served for dinner, mindfulness colouring as a calming activity during quiet time, kale and quinoa salad, grilled avocado and a hard boiled egg for lunch, meditation wrapped up in an @shophalfmoon blanket and a mindfulness walk around 16 mile creek. She left feeling calm, relaxed and re-energized from healthy eating, meditating and being unplugged! Mission Accomplished ✅🙏🏻😊 #empoweringyoungwomen #wellnessretreats #mindfulnessmeditation #destress #lovemyjob

It’s been years in the making, and as weird as this is to say, I am SO GRATEFUL for all of my students that have had injuries and conditions that challenged me as a teacher and (from the very beginning of teaching, literally) made me so deeply interested in continuing to study and figuring out how I can help people reduce their own pain and suffering. ❤️ My current yoga therapy training is a 2-year process, and last year I finished my 500-hr Viniyoga Foundations program, which was the prerequisite for this one (and also a 2-year process!) To say I have dedicated a lot of time and efforts to this is a gross understatement! When I work with clients, I don't fix them. That would imply that they're broken and they're not. My work is to help their body understand where it's stuck, where they need to direct more attention or how they can shift their movement or their mindset to come into alignment with the essence of who they truly are.

We all need to practice breast care and breast cancer prevention all year long, not just during breast cancer awareness month, or during a race to raise more money for chemotherapy treatments. Preventing cancer is a lifestyle we live every day, not just for one month out of the year, or one day. Day after day, our breasts want some pretty basic fundamental things to be well: plenty of pure alkaline water, healthy whole organic foods free of pesticides, herbicides and dioxin, plenty of healthy fats, and a cease and desist on heavy metals like mercury, aluminum and arsenic, ditto for petroleum products on our skin or toxic antiperspirants in our armpits. And what about those bras strapped to your chest 12 hours a day blocking the natural flow of lymph in and out of your breasts.  Breasts want you to walk every day so they can move and groove while you walk. Breasts like to be touched and massaged and talked to. Our vulnerable breasts, so feminine, need a lot of love to be well in the toxic soup we have created of our delicate ecosystem. So every day, love some breasts, starting with your own.

If you are not in a place to pick up and travel to a new destination, you can always discover something new near you. Book an Airbnb or hotel in a nearby countryside, city or quaint town for a change of scenery. #staycations are highly underrated, as is exploring your own backyard! .

Otherwise known as the science of #habit formation, #neuroplasticity is the phenomenon that describes how our neural connections & pathways are formed in our 🧠over time. 
The real reason why it’s so hard for many to break destructive 🚬or addictive habits, or to make a positive change in their lives is because over time we’ve literally WIRED ⚙️our brains to either act or react that way. 
The more we send signals down pathways we don’t want, either by making poor decisions, or thinking negative self destructive thoughts, the STRONGER 💪🏾 those pathways become, and the harder it is to deviate from them. 
If you keep calling yourself ugly, stupid, disgusting, or unworthy of love, eventually no one will be able to tell you otherwise. 
These things become the status quo in the brain, which quickly turns into what the brain perceives as normal or even comfortable. 
If you ask anyone who has overcome a bad habit, lost a ridiculous amount of weight, or made significant positive change in their lives, almost all will tell you the battle was first won in their head, by constantly reminding themselves (repetition) that the past is simply a part of their story, not a part of who they are. 
We can strengthen, breakdown or even recreate these pathways with the choices we make daily. The more you practice engaging in self love, the easier it gets to do it over time. 
If you keep telling yourself that you’re a sexy mf, worthy of love, respect and affection, you’ll soon begin to walk like it, talk like it, and eventually no one will be able to tell you otherwise.

Knees stay back over ankles and in line with hips- always pointing towards your toes! Are you living in your body?

It’s a strange question, I know. But it’s more complicated than it seems.
.
Sometimes, we all feel a little out of touch with our bodies. Betrayed, maybe. Ashamed. Guilty. Ugly, even (😢).
.
And if we feel this way enough, we distance ourselves from what we perceive to be the source of those feelings— the body. And then we stop listening to what it’s trying to tell us, because our feelings of betrayal, shame, guilt, and ugliness drown out everything else.
.
And so we stop living in our bodies. We don’t know it anymore because we try to block it out with all those other ugly feelings.
.
Well I’m here to tell you that the ONLY way to get rid of those feelings when they come knocking is to live IN your body, not outside it. Get to know it. Listen to it, and listen very carefully. Be honest with it. Give it what it’s REALLY asking for.

A marathon is a metaphor for life. There are ups, there are downs, and most importantly there are opportunities for growth.

I believe there are two types of growth 1) a struggle and 2) An Enlightenment. Running teaches you both. A struggle is simply exposing your body, mind, or Spirit to higher demands & experiencing a new level of suffering. Enlightenment is an awareness so deep that one gets lost in the present moment. It is an altered state of consciousness and you lose your sense of self & time. Tara Brach calls this Radical Acceptance. Both are experiences into the unknown. These experiences are the heart beat of life. They are your teaches.

A long the way you have to be willing to struggle to adapt to new levels to acheive empowering goals. And when you do cross the finish line there is a new starting line for your next journey. This is the beauty of life. The end is the beginning.

When me and my brother were little, we used to run around pretending we were carebears. With my hands on my hips, I would visualize light and rainbows pouring out of my tummy.

Not much has changed. I love being a beacon of light, but I’ve been in stormy waters for a bit here now. At first I was terrified that the heavy waves crashing down would take me under, but since it became evident that that wasn’t going to happen, I’ve just been wading it out.

This past week I’ve been trying to sleep away the rest of 2018 - just so ready for this insane year to be over. Then I realized that it’s Christmastime - my favorite time of year - and I just refuse to sleep through it.

Sometimes it is these very hardest times that we later look back on and realize contain some of the most cherished moments of our lives. I have experienced this miracle again and again and if there’s one thing I’d want to impress upon someone else going through something really hard, it would be this.

I too this photo shortly after it happened this Summer - I guess maybe wanting some pictorial evidence that I was still me.

I’m making a Christmas promise to do things that bring my heart joy every day. And to hold myself to that promise, I’m going to be posting pictures of those very things.

Changing your internal reality oftentimes comes from choosing to do things out of accordance with that internal reality. This is the very essence of free will. ✨

I’m about to go back home for the holiday break and I don’t want anything in my fridge or pantry to go to waste !! I’ve been finding ways to recreate and make a ton of leftover goodies and this is one of them:

Blackberry Dyed Oats

1/2 cup of oats
1 cup of water (or milk)
Handful of organic blackberries 
Almond butter 
Coconut flakes
Sunflower seeds 
Wild blueberries

I’ve been finding ways to recreate and make a ton of leftover goodies and this is one of them: Blackberry Dyed Oats 1/2 cup of oats 1 cup of water (or milk) Handful of organic blackberries Almond butter Coconut flakes Sunflower seeds Wild blueberries Blackberries go into the mix when the oats are done. Smash them up and your oats will turn prettynPink 🌷
Vegan Penne alla Vodka 
1 cup of @eatbanza chickpea pasta
1 cup of tomato sauce 
A hefty pour of canned coconut milk, as much as you want 
A whole lotta basil 
Salt n pepper 
Just mix it all together

Matcha Oatmeal 🧚🏻‍♂️
1/2 cup of oats
1 cup of water (or milk)
1 tbsp of matcha 
I put my oats in a pot with water and mix that around until the oats are fluffy and creamy. Then I  shut the heat off and put the matcha in and mixed it all around and served VOOOILA !! (+ peanut butter, blueberries and blackberries)
