“Food provides nourishment to fuel our bodies and offers us a sense of satisfaction and pleasure. Eating can and should be enjoyed for both physical and emotional reasons. However, the diet industry has conditioned us to believe that we should be able to control our natural desire for food. We have taken it so far as to believe that by controlling our food intake, we can in turn control our body sizes, emotions, and lives. Instead of being a source of daily pleasure, food becomes our greatest enemy. Sadly, the diet industry continues to thrive and this painful relationship with food has become a common experience.

I watched Parts Unknown with Anthony Bourdain today.  It made me think. While there’s more discussion about mental health now, it’s still likely only a small percentage of people feel ok being open about their own experience.

⚪️It seems very easy to say ‘I need to start going to the gym.’ Or ‘I need to eat better.’ I doubt the sentence ‘I need some help with my mental health.’ comes up as easily in conversation.
⚪️
⚪️I think it’s important now more than ever that those who can find the confidence to be open and honest about their mental health journeys do so.  Investing in our mental health should be a priority, but for so many people it’s difficult to even express that help is needed.  Every conversation without judgement or expectation takes away a teeny bit of stigma.
⚪️
⚪️So on that note, today was my first day seeing the mental health nurse for my anxiety disorder.  And while it’s not exactly a comfortable experience I’m chuffed that it’s something 😎🖖

To me, sitting upright / in a good posture, is one of the hardest exercise to do in the work place. Not being aware of our posture and slouch sitting 💂can take a toll on us as we get older. However this does not mean sitting statically for a long period of time. Do get off your office table, either going to toilet/grab a drink☕🍵, once in a while too.

Practice good/appropriate posture and form to prevent injuries from happening when doing exercises. Happy workout everyone 😊

It’s funny how things play out 😋
Especially when it’s unexpected but it’s only a matter of time until all is healed.
I got way too excited and thought I was on the mend last week but things took a turn (not in the way I wanted it too). I’ve learnt to listen to my body and to those around me who keep telling me to slow down & allow time to take its course.
I’ve learnt how to be patient and to put my pride aside so I can focus on what it is that’s going on.. So, cheers to life and a huge thank you to all my homeslices @timmytightpants @andrealorenzonfitness @moniquebpont @josh__turner for covering my ass in the demos and to all the members who just love listening to my voice all the time 😏🤭😘

The weather wasn’t exactly beaming on our little holiday to the Isle of Wight but I am realising more and more how amazingly kind it was to us all, especially now I’m back in London. There is something so basic, yet magical and uplifting about the elements that on this beach, showed their splendour and enabled me to soak up every last bit like a recharged battery on full blast. Our connection to this earth is huge. It gives us so much, which is why we have to look after it. You can see on the coastline here how it’s literally eroding before our very eyes - just look at the cliffs. Yet when it comes to our health, we really do need all this stuff. It’s a part of who we are and, let’s face it, without it we simply wouldn’t exist. So go kick off your shoes, walk bare foot, feel the wind and sun on your face, pick up a stone, pebble some sand, if you can, listen to the sound of the sea, feel, think, breathe. "We make our choices then our choices make us"

While unpacking some boxes this weekend (8 months later 😁) I came across these old holiday photos.
Not so long ago these pictures wouldn't have seen the light of day but I look at them differently now....I love them and what they represent a pleasant reminder of the person that found the strength to decide that it was time to change his story.

I used to think that getting healthier meant changing who I am and becoming someone else but I was very wrong.

I am the same person I was back then I just make different choices now. I am not here to tell you that my choices in the past were wrong and that I shouldn't have made them. I made those choices with the information I had so at that time I was right in making them (well some of them...we live, we fail and we learn). 10 years ago the only thing I knew about a healthy lifestyle was what I was taught in school about eating 3 square meals a day and drinking 8 cups of water. 
When I made a conscious decision to start living a healthier lifestyle I had to change the information I knew and the information I was getting, I also had to try it out for myself.

Now I know better I make better choices....better choices about what I eat, what I drink, how I spend my time and who with, especially what I read, what I watch and what I listen to.

I shared this in the hope that 1 person reading this will get the gentle push they need to start making better choices for their health and wellness. I was happy then (ignorance was bliss) but I am happier now know that the decisions I have made about my lifestyle, God willing of course, will give me more time with my daughters. As they watch and learn from the choices my wife and I make the culture in our house will be something they can inherit and pass onto their children.

Mudras are ways to balance the elements within the body using mostly the use of the hands. They activate prana circuits within the body. 🙏

Today's mudra is Ahamkara Mudra. This mudra helps your self confidence. If you struggle asserting yourself, this mudra is for you. 💛

To perform Ahamkara, bend your index finger and press about half way down with your thumb. Extend the other three fingers. Meditate on this mudra for about 45 minutes. 💛

it’s a rough life out there so love yourself as hard as you can.

SECOND: Lots of people ask how I’ve lost all of this weight, and my response has been “uhmmm, I gave up gluten and dairy?” Which is completely true, but it’s been so much more than that🌙

I’ve released a lot of conditioned beliefs, I’ve stepped into fears I never thought possible, Ayurveda completely changed my life, I follow an #EarthDiet, and of course the movement side of it all🌙

I am still dealing with herniated disc in my neck and to be honest probably something else, but I’ve found movement that is right for my body. Over the past 4-5 months my workouts have looked like taking my
dogs on a walk, at home Pilates workouts (thank you @wundabarpilates for the MOVEMENT), hikes, yoga, softball, and A LOT of workouts that I do at home🌙

I do not have a gym membership. I make up all of my own workouts. I use a Pilates ring, a balance board I found at GoodWill, and resistance bands for the booty. There’s lunges, squats, core, leg lifts, booty work, all the things that make my body sweat and make me FEEL amazing. When I don’t feel like that I’ll take the #beaglebros for a walk, sometimes both, sometimes neither🌙

There is no jumping, running, HIIT, arm work or anything that will put me at risk for further injury. I listen to my body. In the past when my body would tell me to rest I would PUSH, now if my body tells me to rest I REST. It could be multiple days in a row and IDC! I give my body what it needs, which has served me sooooo much better than grinding and pushing🌙
