The cold weather is coming brrrr 🍂 🍁
Now that I have my weekends completely off, I love being able to dedicate my time to Ava so it’s pretty disappointing when the weather sucks and we have to stay indoors. Ava has always been a curious and adventurous little girl so I have to keep her busy! I was inspired by loads of sensory Instagram pages and added a little touch of my own imagination! Ava has learnt to take items in and out of things. The other day she took all the clean washing that I’d put away in her drawers. It was very helpful! 😂 But I loved watching her learn this new skill however irritating it was 🙉 The Works are currently stocking a wide range of craft boxes in different sizes. I only needed a small one because I can put all sorts of objects into her box to find. Not only does she like to open and close the box but she can pull out the object inside! The works also do some great sensory items like these autumn leaves which kept her entertained for hours! The beauty of this box is I can change the item inside when she gets bored of the old one! ****Be mindful of any sensory items that could be a choking hazard***** So even on those rainy days, there’s always something to keep us busy!
While making Kade’s weighted blanket, Kade decided to make a robot 🤖 This was quite exciting! The day before, Kade had been at daycare and they have a cleaning robot, so he was stuck on robots for a few days. The exciting part was Kade saw a water bottle and pins and his imagination clicked into gear to create the robot! We celebrated his robot and I worried about finding the pins later. I found one in the folds of the lounge while looking for a lost remote 👆🏽😩😵 #imaginativeplay#autism#autistictoddler#robot#milestones#development#ouch#stabbedmyfinger

Set your alarms!! This Wednesday we will be restocking the entire range of our popular Woodlands Baby Books AND our IVF Milestone Cards 😱🙌 We cannot wait to help you record all those precious memories.
Today we remember all of our beautiful friends who have had their little ones pass away too soon.
Some never held, some held for moments, and some known briefly, but all are held forever in the hearts of those who knew them.
I’ve added some pictures of some beautiful souls who have shared their story, either on the blog or through connecting with them on their pages. They’re all fighters and have inspired so many other parents in their own journeys. They are so generous in sharing their stories, and will never let their babes be forgotten.
If you have had a loss, I’d love for you to share your little ones name, if you feel comfortable, so we can celebrate their short life x

Thank you all for joining our Instagram live session with our wonderful resident pediatrician @bolinquan. It was an amusing and insightful chat. Thank you Dr Bola @bolinquan for sharing your knowledge and experience with us on this very important topic🙏🏾❤.
If you missed the live session, you can watch the replay in our story or bio. You will also be able to catch it on our website later this week. Www.africanmommy.com. Link in bio 👆🏿 .
Here's the summary of the session.
Topic: Should I be Worried About My Child?
New mums shouldn't be worried about their newborn's development yet. There isn't much activity from birth to 6 months.
At 6 months, your baby should be able to turn to you, respond to your smiles and try to get your attention. If your child isn't doing any of these at 6 months, wait till 9 months before you start to worry. .
Babies should be able to sit up without support at 9 months.
By his first birthday, your child should be able to demonstrate stranger anxiety. .
Potty training should start on your child's second year and she should be potty trained by 3. Children can have accidents occasionally after they have been potty trained but if these accidents occur multiple times in a row, you should get it checked. .
ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER (ADHD)
Parents shouldn't be worried about this before the age of 3 because children are usually hyperactive at the tender ages. If you sense a problem, you can have your child checked when they turn 4. For more info on ADHD, you can visit https://vimeo.com/68604218?ref=em-share
Unlike ADHD, autism can be diagnosed as early as 2 years old. A child can have social interaction problems or even speech problems. He might also be extremely shy and overreact to loud sounds or bad smells.
Most of these points mentioned happen a lot more with boys but the girls shouldn't be ignored. Try to watch your child's development well and know when you need to be worried.

This weekend, on Sunday, marked 18 months since I got the call and had the transplant that saved my life ❤️
I spent the weekend at the ballet, Sunday lunching, brownie baking, dog walking, bed shopping and wedding planning - all things I wouldn’t have been here to do without my transplant, the care from two amazing NHS hospital teams, @royalpapworth and @royalbrompton, and the ultimate gift from my donor ❤️
If you do one thing this Monday please sign up to be a donor if you can or make your wishes known to friends and family, it may save up to 9 lives and mean more people like me can have a second chance: organdonation.nhs.uk ♻️

While at #foodcoconference2018 I did something a little different and shared a very personal story and what I have learnt from it. Afterwards I had the privilege to host a panel of five incredible franchise partners who inspired me with their everyday. Thanks for having me Food Co and trusting me with your franchise partners. #milestones#mindset#momentum#meaningful#franchising
I praise and thank You God for allowing me to be a part of Jaya's ordeal 😊
Witnessed firsthand how a puppy comes out! What a rewarding and humbling experience, because one day I too shall give birth to my own offspring... #milestones#dogmommondays
My first born is 10 😩 at 19 years old I didn’t think I would know what I’m doing, I jumped from being out with friends, partying to being a mum in what seems a blink of an eye, not to mention being in an abusive relationship, I never new I could love someone as much as I love you my first baby, you taught me things I never new I could do, you made me stronger then what I thought I was and you made me love harder then I’ve ever loved, I took on being your mum in an instant, I was nervous, scared and dealing with a lot at the time but here we are baby, and what an amazing, beautiful girl you are, I love you with every beat of my heart, happy birthday (12/10/08) 😘🎂 #happybirthday#myfirstborn#tenyearsold#proudmama#cake#potd#myangel#milestones#motherhood#samoanprincess#momblogger#mumblog
Tonight while Kelly, Jake, and I were at Wally World, Jake said, ‘move, move, move!’ as he was waiving his hand around about three times to a couple ‘in his way’. At first, our reaction was upset. However, once we got home, had dinner, and relaxed, we got to thinking about it. Like the majority of you know, Jake doesn’t talk, so his handful of words he can say is slim. However, with Jake not being able to talk, he doesn’t know what words mean. So once we got home and started talking about it, we realized, he officially knows what ‘move’ means. It may not have been in the nicest way, but he has realized what it means and how to use it. It’s little accomplishments like this that make us proud! Ugh, I love him so much. Also, this video of him making his pizza is so perfect because he’s being so particular about it. He wouldn’t let me help, which I love. He definitely takes after me in that department.
This amazing beautiful talented independent tenderhearted loving daughter of mine just turned 12 years old yesterday!!!!!!!!😱😱😱😱😱 she got to go on a shopping spree with her friends and dad @clint_comer during the day and then we went and had a blast at Witch’s Fest at night! (I’ll be posting more pictures on that later😉) but I just had to recognize this amazing human being as my first born, and my favorite daughter in the whole universe 💕💕💕💕💕 she makes the absolute best big sister best friend daughter granddaughter and example of A daughter of her Heavenly Father. I Couldn’t be more proud of her. 💜 she got a big girl birthday present this year- her very own (pink) laptop!! so that she can have it for homework assignments and things that they do at school with laptops. So crazy to me that she’s old enough be needing a laptop for school work😳 but she more than deserves it. I love this first born child of mine. 💗💗💗💗 happy birthday pretty girl #12thbirthday#kiyamichele2018#youngwomen#milestones
Happy 5th Birthday 🎈Destri girl, you are truly a gift!💞💞

Do you or your child suffer:
- Poor balance
- difficulty with spacial awareness
- motion sickness
It’s possible that your Tonic Labyrinthine Reflex (TLR) that affects interaction between your vestibular system and your muscular system, hasn’t integrated properly. So it will affect your ability to keep centred whilst you move - and make it difficult to judge space, distance, depth, speed.

I've had this sweatshirt for years but couldn't wear it. 😒 But perseverance pays off! Not only can I wear my favorite sweatshirt with pride, I am also halfway to my goal of losing 100 pounds and I'm helping others to do the same! It's so rewarding to hear from my challengers about their victories and to help them through their struggles. I've totally been there so I know how hard it can be to break the old habits that hold us down! I wish I could say it'll be easy after 3 weeks. It won't. But it won't be as hard as it is to get started! Join me and see! Check out the link in my bio!
That gummy smile ... ❤❤❤ .
This month milestones:
To sit down with minimal support
Holding your head steady
Reaching for toys
And hopefully make us happy with some dada mama sound
Plus showing me that you are ready for solid yayyyyyyyyyy 💪👦💪👦 Let's do it
I had a beautiful day today. It is my birthday and Dave, David and I went out for an excellent lunch at Milestones. The food and drinks were delish. Then we went to the movie First Man. It was a good movie and really made you think about space travel. It was a perfect day spent with family. I'm not the kind of woman who needs or wants presents. My family and friends presence in my life is my biggest present and my greatest source of joy in my life. My faith in God sustains me thru the good and the difficult times in my life and He knows all the days that are set for me, even before I came to be. Today was a beautiful day and for that I'm so thankful. Every so often we need days like that. And thank you Mark and Julie. You made today possible. What wonderful memories we had with you in our tough summer. You were our bright spot and we'll not forget that. Love to all this Sunday from me in Canada. Oh, yes and another closeup photo courtesy of my loving husband, Dave.
And I would be remiss not to mention my beautiful daughter, Mandy, and my Grandmother Mary, who share the same birthday with me. Yes, the three of us are all born on the same day. I am planning another post when I am home.
