“And everyone they have a heart
And when they break and fall apart
They need somebody's helping hand
I used to say just let 'em fall
It wouldn't bother me at all
I couldn't help then, now I can”
It’s a beautiful rainy day here today. Perfect for staying huddled up in the studio making progress with meticulous stitches. .

This dynastic series has had a profound impact on me. Elaine's storyline is horrifying but comes down to reality. Kura-maro-tini never really learns, because life is not an allegory. The realism of the characters is masterful - by the end I didn't have a clue where they'd end up, but I needed to know. I also absolutely loved the storylines steeped in Maori culture, both traditional and modern. I have learned a great deal just from these books, but of course I couldn't resist extra research. It's been educational in the best way.
I'm still in awe of the sweeping multigenerational saga, clearly planned at both the macro and micro levels. Sarah Lark's style is impressive. Very impressive.
