@quesomahonemnorca

On the 26th December 2017 we said goodbye to Tom’s nurse Jane, who had flown out from London to Cape Town on Christmas Even to escort Tom and I safely from the hospital in Cape Town > back to UK home soil.
She was a TOTAL angel and everything you can imagine from a nurse named Jane - kind, sweet, nothing was a problem and she didn’t make us feel in the least bit guilty that she was missing Christmas with her family to work and make sure ‘Mission Tom back to UK’ was successful. She had all the anti-nausea medication Tom needed so he wasn’t continually sick which was one of his side effects post stroke, that & double vision.
We had two paramedics waiting for us at Heathrow airport to drive us up to a hospital in Norfolk where we saw specialists who looked at Tom; they couldn’t believe the progress he’d already made in just 17 days, his speech was back and he was able to walk with assistance.
The next month we stayed in Norfolk with family so Tom could rest, get the rehab needed & take things easy. I decided to to & fro between London and Norfolk & get my personal training qualifications under my belt as it was always something I’d wanted to do as nutrition & exercise go hand in hand, & exercise has always been a big part of my life whether it be dancing, hiking, cross-fit or home workouts.
I realised ‘some day’ might never happen & rather than let the next month pass on by, especially given that Tom had his family surrounding him & so many amazing friends popping in to keep him company, the thing he needed most was rest and the thing I needed to do most was make the best out of a not ideal situation.
6 weeks later I become a personal trainer (PT) and began taking on clients in Menorca, co-running our Retreat workouts with Tom and supporting clients online with their fitness/body shape and health goals as they all go hand in hand.
So that’s when and why I became a PT, to compliment the holistic health philosophy I have and to give me a positive focus during a time when I needed to keep both mentally and physically strong for both myself and my hubby.
You often never realise why people are in the jobs that they’re in, but that’s my story ☺️
