I bought a pattern. I almost never buy patterns. But when I do, it’s often to learn something.
For this pattern, it’s the neckline. I’m intrigued by if it gaps, will the girls show? How is it constructed? I love the deep neckline and hopefully it will work without me having to change the neckline on at least one dress. Have any of you made this #v9253 ?
I found the pattern when clarastickar made a STUNNING dress using this pattern. It looked so amazing that I bought the pattern almost immediately when I saw her post. 😍
Goodbye #bpsewvember ! Here are my #bestnine ! It was a fun month and yes, I finished my dress for the #sewfrosting yesterday evening. Unfortunately it was dark then and today it is gray and rainy so I could not take more pictures of it....
How amazing is this?! @stitchtacksew made this #clutchbag from a pair of trousers she found in the shop! The trousers she bought were new with tags on but this would also be a great way to upcycle old and worn pairs. Fashion has a high carbon footprint, not to mention the labour that also goes into each garment we buy, so lets make a concious effort to extend the lifespan of these items. Lets buy second hand. Fix up. Alter. Upcycle and mend!⠀
Please keep sharing and tagging us in your posts as we love seeing them!
Day 30 of #bpsewvember Plans!
Just keep on sewing 🧵🧵That’s my plan for 2019...
This is the first fit (every seam is basted) of the #snowballhighneckdress from @yuki_wafflepatterns. It’s my entry for the #sewfrosting challenge from @truebias and @closetcase.patterns. I hope to finish it before midnight! ✂️
Thank you Amanda, @bimbleandpimble, for a super inspiring #bpsewvember ! I loved the prompts and the story templates!
MONEY SHOT 💰// And just because this is literally the first time the “look into the distance” pose has even remotely worked for me... 😂 (usually I just look like a stoner, I don’t even know why I try) #sewfrosting @closetcase.patterns @truebias
#sewfrosting // My entry is finally in! This baby got its debut on the red carpet (or church aisle) last weekend at a dear friend’s wedding but I’m sure I will be busting it out all wedding season long. You guys, I am so in love with and proud of this make :’) and I think it was exactly what I needed to kick my butt out of a massive sewing funk. It sure doesn’t hurt that it photographs like a dream and somehow hides my post-buffet line tummy 😉 I’m sorry (not sorry) but you guys are probably going to see a lot more of this make in the days ahead! Like a real baby, this one baked in the designing stage for a good few weeks before flying through the construction stage in the space of 3 short days 😅 sleep was definitely in short supply for me in the lead up to the big day. .
Fabric: Crepe backed satin (with the crepe side out)
Pattern: Self drafted draped bodice with @byhandlondon #annadress skirt .
Thanks @closetcase.patterns and @truebias for hosting this challenge! I already have a couple more formal dresses in the works - one can never have too much frosting right? 😉 #huenmade

Day 27 #bpsewvember Mentor.
Sadly I don’t have a sewing mentor. Even more, I don’t have any friends who sew. And I miss this kind of connection! I’m lucky though that now I have a sublime sewing teacher (for 3 years). I learned so much from her already and I still have so much to learn!
🎞I’m using my scraps to create a sewing halo!
Day 26 #bpsewvember Organisation?
The question mark after the prompt is spot on for me! Because for my sewing I’m so not organised! Or is wearing the same colour as the fabric you are cutting out a form of organisation?? 🤪😉😂
This is how my husband caught me last Saturday night when I was totally immersed in sewing 🧵🧵🧵
Very happy to show my completed 60's dresses!! All 23 of them!! It was a very time consuming project but I am so pleased with the final product and the kids look great in them!! Can't wait to see them perform in these tomorrow night!!
Here is my entry into #owop18 - one week one pattern run by @sewisfaction and sponsored by @namedclothing. I am going with @deer_and_doe_patterns #plantaintee . I love this pattern and been meaning to make some more, so here is my excuse to do so! I’ll try to aim for one a day this week 😱. This is also my entry into @bimbleandpimble #bpsewvember - D24 - craziest pattern. How crazy is this fly pattern?!!! I love it! The fabric is #chatchocolat French Terry purchased from @maaidesign.
Day 24 #bpsewvember Wackiest pattern
This is the wackiest and most fascinating pattern piece I ever used. They look like two angel wings. It’s the upper bodice from #therushcutter dress from @inthefolds!
D21 @bimbleandpimble #sewvember - Assesories part 2. Inspired by @melbournefrocktails abundance of #idaclutch by @kylieandthemachine I decided to try to make one myself. This one is a birthday present for my mum. Featuring gorgeous forest green @lefflerleather and a very cute @maaidesign label :) Thank you @kylieandthemachine for this amazing free pattern. I am making a few more of these for Christmas presents and one for myself of course :)

D21 of @bimbleandpimble #bpsewvember is Accessories. I love making accessories just as much as I love sewing! Years ago I started with bead jewelry then fall in love with working with porcelain. Afterwards I played with silver clay, then moved on to wax casting in bronze, gold and silver. My recent passion has been polymer clay and crochet with metallic thread. I am doing a little Christmas stall at a country market in a couple of weeks, fingers crossed this could be a beginning of something very exciting!
I am wearing #yorkpinafore by @helens__closet made from @atelier_to_nani_iro linen purchased from @fibresmith. And #willowtank by @grainlinestudio made from @atelier_to_nani_iro double gauze purchased from @missmatatabifabric.
Finished my muslin of #simplicity1325 in a very impractical brocade that, let’s be honest, has no place in my life (enough to use for a pencil skirt, so maybe there’s that). I honestly have no idea how to style this jumper thing. I put on a long sleeve tee to see if that worked, although I’m sure a turtleneck would be ideal. I was taking major inspiration from @sewwrong’s version and styling. .
What do we think? Can I pull it off and should I remake in a more practical fabric? The hubs says he can’t get past the fabric choice to help me decide but generally seems to dislike it on me. Does it feel weird because it’s a new style or is it actually just not a good look on me? Halp!
It’s really hard to see my felted seams in this vest but hopefully these photos help. I sewed all seams as follows: - right sides together with straight stitch with regular seam allowance - decided which way I will press the seam allowances and then trimmed the seam allowance of bottom piece - presses the seam allowances with untrimmed seam allowance on top of the trimmed one. This way the trimmed seam allowance was covered
- top stitched the seam from the right side 1/4” away from the original seam, making sure I am catching the untrimmed seam allowance underneath - trimmed the extra fabric of the untrimmed seam allowance on the inside, so that the inside of my vest looks as nice as the outside
I will try to remember to make a quick tutorial on how I did it, but hopefully this makes sense. At least kind of...

Day 20 #bpsewvember Never Worn 😩
Old pictures from February 2017 because that was the only day I ever worn my #sauniocardigan ! (As I’m suffering from a heavy cold I didn’t even wore it today for a new picture!)
I was not thrilled with it when I finished it and that feeling never went away! Maybe I should make a belt for it?
