What a lovely weekend it was at the Inner Peace for World Peace Free Public Program and Satori Transmission Workshops with Sri Avinash in Melbourne. On Saturday, Sri Avinash shared the ancient secret to inner peace and happiness. A highlight was when Sri Avinash transmitted the Satori state to a fully packed Brighton Town Hall. Also Sunday was so special, where everybody was glowing after receiving the Satori Transmission in the workshops.⠀

And the good news for all Melbournians is - it's still not over yet! Sri Avinash will be in Melbourne for one more weekend. ⠀

Pranayama is the control of breath so that it may tune the body, calm the mind and ultimately lead to deeper levels of consciousness. 
Our breath is intimately linked to our state of mind. It gets shorter when we panic, higher up in the chest when we're stressed; its fitful when we are anxious, becomes even and quiet when we are calm and serene,  and almost disappears completely when we are concentrating hard. If fear can make us pant, it makes sense that we can overcome a panic attack by consciously deepening and quieting our breathing. 💖✨.

The little things make all the difference! Relaxing the toes, slow calm breaths, softening the face, and smiling! I always used to feel cheesy smiling in yoga but wow does it make make a difference! Not taking yourself or your practise too seriously is such a lovely relief. A little smile to yourself is a sweet reminder to thank yourself for showing up on the mat no matter how perfect or imperfect your practise may feel that day. It’s about having a go and finding joy in play. .

Day 15 #KapotasanaRules 
you look closely at this month’s calendar, you’ll see that it starts with some seated poses, to warm up, goes into standing ones, gets to a few ‘milder’ backbends, arrives into more challenging ones (#Kapotasana specifically, as well as variations on how to help us get there), and finally unwinds the spine from the work done. I had a lot of requests on making a class, giving tips/exercises, to practice Kapotasana and thought ‘what better way to show that than in a challenge, not only dedicated to this powerful asana, but also order the poses progressively like I’d do in a master class or workshop?’ so, here you have it! The beauty about this month is that you can do this challenge a few different ways:
1⃣ the usual one: each day doing the pose called for,
2⃣ you build up: day 1 you do the first pose, day 2 you do days 1+2, day 10 you do days 1 through 10, until day 28 where you take the whole class and have built up enough stamina, strength and flexibility to do so (this is NO regular one, consider it more like a workshop/intensive, it’s tough!)
Towards the end of the month, I’ll publish the ‘complete’ class that’ll include ALL these asanas, plus further warm up/unwind, so it feels more wholesome. Upon my return to Australia I have been converged upon by a maelstrom of plans with many moving parts, some teetering back and forth on the edge of upheaval, others long laid but always destined for abandonment.
All with complex rhythms.
All with different directions.
All with specific ramifications.
All interdependent.

Such an overload of anticipation is one easy transmutation to anxiety but here I am in full surrender, willing to accept whatever comes next. Once I recognised the complete lack of control I have over my immediate situation it was not easy, but essential, to let go of expectations and make fluid my path.

Now as I step back I realise my problems are actually luxuries and privileges, I am grateful. I am humble. I am... ... awesome and totally cool!

In a Yoga class the teacher will often remind their students to focus on their breath. To be guided by their breath. 
How often do we forget about this? 
How often do we come into a pose only to realise that we've stopped breathing for most of it? 
It took me many years to understand and grasp what was meant by the concept of listening to and being guided by my own breath. In theory I understood what was being asked of me, but in practice I wasn't so sure. 
As I've become more advanced in my practice, I've become more attuned to my breath and how it travels around my body. I I notice that if my breath is erratic, my body is stiff and my thoughts unclear and jumbled. When my breath is steady, my body is steady, my mind is steady - and the irony is - not only do I feel strong , and capable to take on anything that comes my way, I also feel light and free.

Whilst we cannot change what goes on around us, our external environment, we can change how we respond to it. How we feel in response to it. And that change comes as a result of our breath. 
Take time to truly understand the concept of being led by your breath. Then you will come to understand yoga.

On Saturday I held my first public yoga class. My class theme was about letting go what doesn’t serve you purpose.

12 months ago I lost my brother to suicide. And it was 12 months ago that I learnt to let go of the things that didn’t serve me. To let go of the small stuff. To prioritise self care. To only invest in what is truly important. To focus on what resonates with me. To focus on whatever is good for my soul.
.
AND HERE WE ARE 🤸🏽‍♀️
.
I have taken a step back from a demanding career which wasn’t serving me what I needed. I have found a pathway which serves me, guides me and allows me to grow in a way that nourishes my soul as well as others.

So, what I want you to take from this is...
Don’t wait for something to happen for you to change. 
If something isn’t serving you, let it go, change it up. 
Be what YOU need.

Day 14 #KapotasanaRules  I am not a bendy person oh man this is ....
you look closely at this month’s calendar, you’ll see that it starts with some seated poses, to warm up, goes into standing ones, gets to a few ‘milder’ backbends, arrives into more challenging ones (#Kapotasana specifically, as well as variations on how to help us get there), and finally unwinds the spine from the work done. I had a lot of requests on making a class, giving tips/exercises, to practice Kapotasana and thought ‘what better way to show that than in a challenge, not only dedicated to this powerful asana, but also order the poses progressively like I’d do in a master class or workshop?’ so, here you have it! The beauty about this month is that you can do this challenge a few different ways:
1⃣ the usual one: each day doing the pose called for,
2⃣ you build up: day 1 you do the first pose, day 2 you do days 1+2, day 10 you do days 1 through 10, until day 28 where you take the whole class and have built up enough stamina, strength and flexibility to do so (this is NO regular one, consider it more like a workshop/intensive, it’s tough!)
Towards the end of the month, I’ll publish the ‘complete’ class that’ll include ALL these asanas, plus further warm up/unwind, so it feels more wholesome. "I'm enjoying quite a slow and mindful practice at the moment employing aspects of Yin yoga, acupressure points from Traditional Chinese Medicine and a daily Kundalini meditation. As we're coming into Spring and the Wood element, I'm working along the liver meridian (which runs between the big/ second toe and the inner seam of the leg) and Gallbladder meridian (that runs along the outer leg and zig zags up the side body). Focus is on shapes and pressure points which stimulate and stretch these areas, using plenty of props including a tennis ball." ⠀

Thanks to @kmos_pilates for the inspiration... she definitely makes this look way easier than it is! Maybe after a few more times I could find similar control, but definitely think I’m far off doing it with my eyes closed!! 👏🏼

Breastcare.

No matter what age and shape or size your breasts are, it is important to take care of them as part of your selfcare routine. 
Our breasts are made of fat and the pectoral muscle is literally the only thing that's holding them up. Daily massage in  the shower will help promote lymphatic drainage as well as a healthy diet and tailored exercises.

YOGA: incorporate Gomukhasana (cow face pose) daily. Not only does this stimulate the glands through your armpit, it also creates lift through your breasts. Any stimulation for blood flow and lymphatic drainage around your breasts is super healthy. Try holding this pose for 2-3 minutes (3 times daily)  either sitting down, standing or at your work desk 😉

Connecting to and slowing down the rhythm of your breath is the quickest way to ground you in the present moment. Feel your breath come into to your body, graciously expanding your lungs and leaving your body taking with it anything that is not needed.
